@ohheyitscindyk I totally forgot about that haha. My state is of course blank.
My Kohl's is on the list. I'm shocked, as I usually don't luck out with that sort of thing. I'm interested to see it. I'm also hoping for a coupon to use!
@ohheyitscindyk Yay. My kohl’s will be one of the first 200 to get it.
@SportyGirly125 You'll have to let us know how it is! My closest Kohl's stores unfortunately won't be part of the first 200.
@ohheyitscindyk I will definitely keep you all in the loop. It’s less than 2 minutes from my house near a Trader Joe’s and Ulta.
Which one is in between the inkey list and olehrnriksen? @lnum
Thank you very much, @lnum! I have the Burt’s Bees and am surprised (and happy) to see the concentration right where it claims to be. Also for the price... The INKEY List Bakuchiol Retinol Alternative Moisturizer 1 oz/ 30 mL is a little ⭐️!
@eshoe @lmaster @itsfi @faeriegirl Totally agree. At some point in the future I may try one of the others, but for now I bit the bullet and purchase the OLEHENRIKSEN Glow Cycle Retin-ALT Power Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL during the sale. I see no point to continuing to use the Herbivore knowing it is doing nothing.
@lnum please keep me posted on your experience with the OH. I don’t think I’ve met an OH product I don’t like! The BB does cause some redness on occasion so I don’t use it that often. The IL I use mainly on my neck/décolleté area. I wish this list was more comprehensive. I do like the Biossance and love the Mahalo, but I don’t see a big difference after using them. Or maybe I am just aging faster these days 😂
eta: I forgot that I actually went through a DS of the OH! Yes, it was pleasant-scented like Fruit Loops, even. And the violet hue had a slight brightening effect.
@lnum, the OH is a nice one. It contains an AHA and, at the time I was using a DS of it, I was already using an AHA so I had to be careful of when I used the OH. I have a Bakuchiol serum from TIL and Acure that have not been open so I’ll test those out once I get through my current Herbivore bottle.
Interesting read from AP News re: Bakuchiol. This would include the Herbivore reformulation, I believe. @itsfi @Kim888 (I thought you used this; sorry if I tagged you incorrectly!) @l8totheparty @lnum
February, 4th 2020, Boonton, NJ. Sytheon recently commissioned an analytical study to assess the level of Bakuchiol in nine commercial cosmetic products from the USA and Europe. Out of the 9 consumer cosmetics tested, 8 did contain significant concentrations of Sytenol® A in line with the declared or expected values for optimal performances, whereas one product (Bakuchiol Retinol Alternative Serum from HERBIVORE BOTANICAL) failed to show significant presence.
Bakuchiol has seen its use and popularity spiked after a publication from Dhaliwal & al in the British journal of Dermatology in 20181. Sytenol®A, commercial name of Bakuchiol was found to be a gentler alternative to retinol for topical skin treatment, with better photostability and similar performance in addressing photoaging.
Numerous brands have launched cosmetic products capitalizing on the claims associated with Bakuchiol, including reducing key signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines and improving acne-prone skin. Like other cosmetic active agents, its benefit is directly related to the presence of an appropriate level of Bakuchiol as well as its stability in the formula. Hence, Sytheon selected 9 commercial serums and oils and the level of Bakuchiol was assessed by an external lab.
The report confirmed that almost all tested products complied to their claims and contained optimal levels of Bakuchiol, from 0.5 to 2.14%. This also suggests the excellent stability of Bakuchiol in formulation, unlike retinol. A recent publication from Temova & Al2 revealed retinoid instabilities in almost all tested commercial cosmetics through long-term and accelerated stability testing.
From Bakuchiol analytical benchmark, only one product stood out. The water-based Herbivore Bakuchiol Serum contained only 2.27 ppm of Bakuchiol when 1% has been claimed by the brand on social media. This does not indicate a stability issue but rather the use of a water-based extract from a part of the plant Psoralea Corylifolia (as indicated on the INCI list), which cannot contain a hydrophobic substance such as Bakuchiol.
Over the years, Bakuchiol has become the popular alternative to retinol for sensitive skin, and unlike retinol it has confirmed to be stable in formulation. In a world where the need for transparency is higher than ever, it is the responsibility of the cosmetic industry to respect their consumers by providing safe, stable products that contain what they claim.
More details about the study can be found on (bakuchiol dot net).

Just came here to post this but you're on top of it. Very sad to see brands deliberately deceiving customers this way. So done with herbivore, no excuse for this.
@sarahshter I generally don’t pay much attention to the behind-the-scenes stuff that goes on, but this one hits close to home. I loved the original. I was crushed when it was discontinued. Elated when it returned. Now doubly crushed. Falling in love with beauty products is rarely worth it, it seems!
@eshoe I bought a new bottle,,, have not used it yet, looks like I'll be definitely done after using it 😩
@lmaster oh noooooo! I guess on the plus side, it hopefully shouldn’t cause any irritation 🤷🏻♀️ The up and down discontinued/reformulated/questionable ingredients roller coaster of this one really hurts!
