Wallpaper, has a good write-up, by Mary Cleary. 3/2/22. Describes the concept(s) behind L.S. & EdP ranges. 'Street Pink' Sheer has my name on it. $78...gulp.
Puig* is behind this newest entry into the luxus beauty realm, per Dorit's blog. *also gave us Prada perfumes.
@MvLL thank you for sharing the story. He produces all of his own textiles? That is remarkable. It is also exciting to earn that there will be more to come.
Yes, it is outstanding, @eshoe. DvN hails from a family of tailors (3rd gen?); after reading a brief bio on famous fashion designers .org blog, it isn't a big surprise, as he has a strong Vision. And is maybe a lil' stubborn- in a good way.
Ooh thanks so much @MvLL , I will look for it! 💄Don’t you also just love/hate it when you see a shade that you know is probably made for you?! Best ever.
Yes indeed, @Sunnysmom. Happy to help.
'Street Pink' looks suspiciously similar to Giv. le Rouge 'Framboise Velour' #315, & Merit 'Fashion' (which is a Proper Cool Berry on me- only if I skip B.Bees lip Balm under it).
I do wonder about their Formulas more than the colors though. Just how many can be concocted?
That was a good quick article @MvLL , my kind of read these days. 🤓 I hear you tho I suppose there is a world for a sheer, balm, satin and matte. Considering how I have managed to buy some of each one too lol.
I’m sure there are so so many similar shades in the world. I mean how many of those can there truly be with but a tweak here, a tweak there?! Kind of seems like C Herrera lips which I have some of the satin and matte anyway. Did you try any? Hers are quite good. I was happily surprised as I was going to just dismiss them (and DVN as well maybe) as a fun boutique novelty and they are a terrific lip product imo.
@Sunnysmom We're just 'kids in a candystore' when we see l.s. (& other m.u)! Haven't seen Herrera l.s.(in person) - seems several designers have tried their hand at cosm., with quite mixed results. Remember Calvin Klein mu, circa '99-'01? or Ralph Lauren in early 80's? Good stuff.
So true @MvLL ! I do remember CK (both!) and RL, and I did have some of CK and even Halston! Oof yes I’m old! Lol The cases were so fun too, I loved the heavy lucite CK and bean shaped creamy Halston! The original CK were kind of different if I recall. Or basic I should say.
@Sunnysmom. The minimalist Lucite & silvery metal of Calvin Klein cosm.(1999) was so complimentary to the House's cool, sans-serif aesthetic. Totally dig it. I even considered a set of C.K.Lucite brushes- But quality and form just wasn't there. The color cosm. were very subtle thou'. Bit like RL's.
I missed Halston's foray. Was that in the 80's?
Do you remember Chas.of the Ritz? With money from babysitting, I bought 'Manhattan Brownstones' e/s quad. Its pigmentation was Miles away from Covergirl, Max Factor, et al. Did it spell doom for me? nah...
Yes @MvLL , I loved his minimal everything! Still do. They weren’t the greatest products true. Yup I think it was the 80s, had to be when I count back! If I can count back. 😆 Now I had to google it and it said he and Elsa P did collab sometime late 70s tho I know I would have bought in 80s. Found this old pic. I had the perfume, blush, powder and lip if I recall. Packaging had that nice heft like WA. They were actually really nice products! Wonder if I saved any.
I do recall C of Ritz!! Not sure I had any tho. Went from YSL to Revlon right if memory serves. Great use of babysitting money, good priorities even then. 🥰
Compliments, @Sunnysmom on your Fab taste.
Elsa P. was so influential back then- I'd venture to say that her sculptural forms influenced NY Fashion designers with a 'minimalist' tendency, ie Donna Karen, CK, Zoran. And H. -all the ultrasuede, and silk column dresses. Well, Japanese designers (Rei, Issey M, Yojhi Y) also had a Big influence on NY, London & Paris fashion-houses. A big topic..!
Over in the Besides Beauty group- '..favorite makeup moments in tv/movies?', there's a post with a still from a recent bio-pic of the late, great Halston.
Yup I’m very familiar with those designers from the good old days too @MvLL ! (Loved those oversized white shirts!🥰) Donna Karan was and is amazing. Great classic design lives on! Now if I could only apply that rule to cosmetics. 😳🙃 I did enjoy the miniseries on Halston, did you see it too? Over the top but it is what it was!
Ariana Grande’s R.E.M. Beauty Heads to Ulta
In its first brick-and-mortar distribution play, the brand is entering more than 1,000 Ulta Beauty doors next month.

This is interesting. I also wish it was in more stores. I actually really like the idea, that is super great for rural people like me that don't have the stores others do. We have an hour drive for Target, TJ Maxx, Ross, Ulta and SiJCP. That's all we have in a 4 hour radius. Luxury stores don't exist here. Now the downside. Walmart is really really a thief's paradise. I don't know about any of the other stores but I worked at a Walmart for 5 years. And this is a rural area. Our Walmart, had theft totals in the cosmetics department alone of 60,000+. That 60k was the year they introduced more anti-theft packaging and those things you need an associate to grab off a hook for you. The next year, it didn't take long for people to learn how to beat those, thefts went back up to it's usual number of 90,000+.
What will be the impact of that level of 'shrinkage'? A major increase in price of items? in a Retailer known for Low Prices! -brings to mind a puppy chasing its own tail.
That’s crazy @Samtian , the small (?!) percentage ruin it for the rest as it always goes. 😕 I had a discussion with an SA in Nordstrom shoes the other day and we noticed that Walmart was also carrying some shoes that they carry with some much higher price points. Wild experiment if so. My friend used to always say that the cleaning supply prices could not be beat however and she would go just for that. I remember that some stores were so clean and neat while others were just a disaster. A shame. I bet they were glad to have you! 😊
@Nahnom It appears that there are only select Walmart stores that will have this section included so these may be stores with a higher-class demographic in general than what we see in a lot of Walmart stores.
