@danielledanielle @greeneyedgirl107 Yeah, he (Scott-Vincent Borba) joined a seminary 5 or so years ago… asking Google for the year… ah, 2019. Last year he was ordained a deacon. This weekend he’ll be ordained a priest.

A friend of mine who went to Catholic school through 12th grade used to wear lots of e.l.f. makeup. Last year I remember one of her rather religious aunts saying something like “see, if he can give up all his possessions and serve, so can you” to her. That same aunt’s been trying to guilt-trip her into becoming a nun since we first met in the 1980s. 😂 I wonder if her aunt’s still keeping tabs on Borba. Anyway: yeah, he had a vision and completely changed his life 7 years ago.

@haleyvvvv Just wanna mention, for anyone worried this means the end of the brand, that chapter 11 doesn’t always mean a business is closing shop. From what I’ve read elsewhere, Pat McGrath Labs filed chapter 11 to stop a potential liquidation (preempting the asset auction @danielledanielle posted about in this thread a short while back). This way, the brand gets more time to find a buyer, do more debt planning, and probably restructure itself. I’d rather see the brand in chapter 11 than sold to a liquidation-happy investment firm.

This also keeps products in stores, so I don’t feel pressured (yet) to start panic-hoarding like I did with Ami Colé. 🫠 Eh, I’ll wait and see what happens. I assume Pat will stick around, even if it’s in a Creative Director role instead of CEO. I keep thinking of François Nars as an example there, though NARS has never filed bankruptcy. (Mr. Nars sold his brand and stayed on as Creative Director.) Pat’s partnership with LV seems like a backup plan.

Yes, @WinglessOne !! 💯 Agree. I posted a bit about this in the PMG thread (and I thought this thread but I see it didn't actually post), how I liked this article about to because it talked about Bankruptcy as not closing and discussed other brands who had reconsolidated (i.e. Morphe). I agree that stocking up isn't required as of now, but it'll be something to watch over the next bit.
