Hello beautiful Beauty Insider Community members! 

 

We’re starting this thread for you guys to report any issues and weird things that you are seeing or ask any questions. We have a number of issues logged that we are already working on a fix for, so this is a work in process.

 

Some things to note as you are reporting issues:

  • If you are looking for a thread and can’t find it, please post here. We’ll need to manually move some threads that got lost in the migration to their correct groups.
  • If you are reporting a bug please be specific about the issue you're seeing, how you got there (“I clicked here and it did *this*”), the device you're using and which browser you're in. 

 

Some tips:

  • If you are looking for a thread that you commented on in the old community, go to the front page of conversations and click the “My Posts” tab. This is where you will find all of your conversations activity, including your heart count.

 

It’s good to see you all and thanks for being patient!

 

Whenever reporting a bug we need as much info as possible or our tech team cannot reproduce the issue and verify it's actually occurring. If they can't see the issue they cannot fix it. You cannot overshare details, test on too many devices or share too many screenshots... The more detail the better!

Hey @TeamBIC, a recent .com homepage update for mobile web removed the “Community” icon/link from the bottom nav bar. I thought maybe a Community link was added to the profile menu (I see it was moved there for desktop web a while ago), but I don’t see it there for mobile web.

Those screenshots are from my iPhone + Chrome, but I see the same issue on iPhone + Safari.

 

Workaround: I can just directly visit community.sephora.com which is how I’m here right now. But I need to log in via .com first, otherwise I get stung by the .com vs. BIC sign-in bug. (Signing in to BIC instead of .com always causes login issues for me.)

@WinglessOne @danielledanielle @PrettyPaint @Titian06 @curlychiquita Hi all - thank you for flagging your concerns about Community navigation, especially as it impacts the mobile web version of Community. As you can imagine, digital 'real estate' can be tough to come by during the busy holiday season, and so we periodically share the love (and our space) with other features to help shoppers navigate to what's most timely -- including our Holiday Gift Guide and in-store services. We totally understand the confusion this can cause when things aren't where you expect them to be, especially when it makes the features you love (like Community) harder to find when they were once just a quick tap away.

Since Gallery is also part of Community, we're hoping that by at least preserving a Gallery link to under your 'Me' profile menu, you can still navigate to the Forum this way (acknowledging it's a few additional taps compared to before), or by going directly to Community through community.sephora.com, like @WinglessOne mentioned. We appreciate you continuing to hang in there despite ongoing login issues you're experiencing, and for coming to each other's aid by sharing tips and tricks to accessing Community.

We will be sure to share your feedback and concerns with our UX and tech partners -- we hear you!

You can always try to access community through the gallery on the app.

 

I don't like the button being replaced, but last year after the holidays they put it back, but it seems so arbitrary to do this.... Like you're going to get gifts if you're shopping , no matter what, a specific button 🤷🏽‍♀️

@danielledanielle  If I ever used the app for BIC, that’s what I’d do. Eh, I could also do that on mobile web since Gallery’s a persistent profile menu link. It’s just faster to plug in BIC’s url on the mobile site. (I know that’s not possible in the app.)

 

You’d be surprised how many shoppers use the Gifts icon/link. I mean, I don’t know Sephora’s usage stats so I’m making a big assumption here. But I do know the stats of my former employer each year we added specific “gift ideas” navigation. You’d think shoppers wouldn’t even need that since, as you said, they’re shopping for gifts anyway. But they always flocked to those gift-themed pages. They were handy one-stop places to browse, especially for folks who weren’t sure what to give as gifts. I sat in on some usability test sessions (with “actual shoppers” aka non-employees as test subjects) and the insights were interesting. Anyway, it’s all probably part of a marketing push to drive more sales of gift sets and specific products. It’d be fun to see Sephora’s traffic stats, among other stats.

 

None of what I just rambled means I like having the Community icon removed in favor of the Gifts icon, even just temporarily. 😅 Just sayin’ I think I know why Sephora does that.

Ahh, ok, when you give that context, that makes sense.  @WinglessOne  Also just tells me, I'm the odd one out, because I'm either gift card or a search bar user... And that I usually start stalking browsing gift sets once they start holiday releases 😂

 

Honestly, they could remove the store button and put the gift button there....

Noticed this too.  I workarounds by going to the desk top version and scroll down at the bottom to My Sephora

@CorgiMommy  Yeah, most of my BIC time happens on my iPad where I keep browsers in desktop mode; the Community link’s still available (in the profile menu) there. But when I’m out and about, I occasionally visit via phone—one place I wanna see mobile versions of websites. 😅

@WinglessOne I noticed this, too, it is near impossible to find the Community now unless you’re tagged in something. I’d hate did the community to die off because of this.  There has to be an easy solution, like the one you proposed.

@curlychiquita @PrettyPaint  I’m also worried BIC might die off because it’s less accessible and findable lately. I realize offline life-related things might be reducing community interaction too, but sign-in issues might be a main culprit—and now, just finding BIC in general. Though outside the app, folks can always just visit (and bookmark) http://community.sephora.com to go straight to the Community homepage. I always log in at the .com homepage first, so I’ll stay logged in when visiting BIC. 

 

Tangent: unfortunately, chat/spam bots have no problem finding BIC. 🤦‍♀️When we had lots of little kids posting here, the bots were especially problematic. I mean, bots are bad enough for adults, but kids are even more likely to fall for those fake interactions, requests for personal data/info, malicious links, spam links, etc. So I get super annoyed whenever I see a user that, to me, is obviously a bot. I know there’s no easy way to keep ‘em out of BIC without negatively impacting legit community members. But I wish there was.

@WinglessOne I'm worried about it dying off as well. That would be terribly sad for me. I don't understand why the community isn't accessible on the main page, though; I'm not sure how you would learn of it if you were unfamiliar. That's good that you are able to stay logged in. It tends to log me out almost immediately for some reason, though it's working reasonable well today!

@PrettyPaint  Glad you’re having less trouble today! I still get logged outta BIC if I visit any .com page while logged in. After I log in at the .com homepage, I have to go straight to BIC. Once I’m here, visiting any .com page (product pages, BI summary page, customer support page, T&C, etc.) will log me out if BIC. 😑 If I wanna see more info on anyone’s tagged products, I have to open those links in incognito mode (and remember not to log in via those incognito tabs while I’m already logged in via regular browser tabs). 

Hopefully a Community link will reappear on the .com homepage soon, or maybe after the holiday shopping season.

@WinglessOne agree that log in issues ate contributing to decreased engagement on BIC.

 

I also wonder if bringing back more frequent gratis (e.g. every 6 weeks or so, like when it was BT) might help.   I'm not being greedy but I want to keep BIC going.   Going to tag @TeamBIC for this feedback. 

 

I also encourage BICers to check out Brainstorming for how to get the message boards more active!

@TeamBIC @WinglessOne - I noticed this too.  It looks like the gift link replaced the community link.  I now go in through my profile since I can't find the community link anywhere else.

@Titian06  Yep: that’s the update they recently made. Interestingly, they also recently removed the Community icon/link from desktop web, replacing it with a new “Shop Store & Delivery” icon/link. When they did that, they moved the Community link into the profile menu:

So I expected to find that a Community link in mobile web’s profile menu too. Especially now that the Community icon’s been removed from the bottom nav bar. But nope, it’s not there. 

 

I wonder if the Sephora app’s also missing a Community link now? I remember that issue coming up a while back but don’t recall if it was resolved. (I don’t use the app unless I absolutely need to.)

Same here! I've been having a difficult time locating the community and logging in too. It seemed much more accessible when readily available on the main page.

@miss8 I'm sorry! For some reason, I can only log in if I click on "create a new account" and just enter my info from there. I'm not sure why that is.
