Hello, BIC Beauties! If the idea of makeup capsules piques your curiosity, or you're interested in seeing what's in the beauty collection or weekly makeup bag of your fellow BIC beauties, jump right on in - with questions, comments or a capsule of your own to share.

To add a fun take on putting together a makeup capsule, I've included theme(s) for the weekly capsule - some weeks, I have enough products in my stash (eek!) to make a whole capsule based on the prompt; other weeks, I have just one or two items that fit neatly within theme.

Week 49 (December 2 -8) - The Beautifully Bold or Delightfully Demure Makeup Capsule and/or The "Savvy Shopper" Makeup Capsule  

🌺  The "Beautifully Bold or Delightfully Demure" Makeup Capsule prompt was inspired by a comment by the mom of our marvelous @caitbird. Mama caitbird is a gem - bringing broken mugs back to life, making delicious meals and treat. She's a superwoman and it just made me laugh heartily when caitbird shared about an occasion when her mom gave her major side-eye over one of caitbird's stunningly vibrant and beautiful makeup looks of the day

Curate a capsule with the one or more products you use for a beautifully bold or delightfully demure look. Or, a capsule with a mix of these two looks. Also, for this theme, you may want to consider a tie-in with Cheek Challenge Winter 2024/25, The Frost, The Glitz and The Wardrobe for a princess / prince - like flush of color.

What is a capsule makeup collection?  

A capsule makeup collection is a selection of makeup products that can be used to put together different looks for a variety of occasions. For some of us, that may mean a group of essential products for your everyday look plus a few extra items for a more glam or dramatic look; and, for others of us, that may mean, a lineup of our holy grail product(s) in each makeup category. My ideal capsule makeup collection probably falls somewhere in between - we'll (hopefully) find out at the end of the year! I don't see myself as a minimalist, but I don't have an extensive collection of makeup either. I appreciate the collections of people who fall within both camps but I float somewhere in between - on the one hand, my brow product collection would earn a gold star if we were using a minimalist approach to makeup; my lip product lineup, on the other hand, would not. 🤣 It would most definitely not.  

Why have a capsule makeup collection?  

Everyone will have their own reasons for having (or not having) a more streamlined makeup collection. Over the years, I've just become more interested in having less beauty products on hand (well, except for lip products, lol) - a handful of items I use or reach for more frequently with maybe a few additional products that are go-to's for me for special events or occasions.  Don't get me wrong, I love trying new products and I don't see that changing. I just like the idea of having a simpler collection (I appreciate that "simpler" can be relative), curated to my needs and lifestyle.

Why weekly? 
A few years ago, beauty & lifestyle blogger Serein Wu, did a weekly series (on her blog and YouTube channel), Makeup Bag Monday, where she rotated her makeup bag each week with new product launches and makeup already in her collection. Every Monday, she shared the products she selected for the upcoming week and provided detailed makeup reviews on the makeup she used for the previous week. I may not post detailed reviews, but will at least try to include a weekly recap (probably at the end of the week) of what products I like and which ones didn't work for me.  If weekly works for you, great. If not, feel free to join in based on what works best for you.

What if I don't have enough products to fit the theme for a full face?

No need for your entire makeup capsule to fit the weekly theme(s). Just one will do. And, even if you don't have one that fits squarely within a theme, feel free to post your makeup capsule. We'd love to see what you're using and hear your feedback on the products as you put them to use.

Yeah @missjeanie, I feel like I’m more inclined to be choosy now with what I keep in my stash; well, maybe not for lip products which I’ve been admittedly slow to move through. That’s by choice. In my head, I have a plan to make my way through them and to pick what stays and what goes. But I’m not super motivated to put that plan into effect just yet. 😂 

Ooouh, a stick capsule would be great. I do like the convenience of eyeshadow sticks. Right now, I’d say my favorites are from Bobbi Brown and Thrive. Interested in how the NARS fares but I wouldn’t plan on picking one up until the fall, maybe. Trying to be good. 😉

You inspired me @itsfi  I had the day off today so I did a lot of over due house cleaning. But I took the time to make a package of lightly used products that aren't getting the love they deserve with me, I'm going to try to find them a rehome. Thank you for the motivation. 🙏

The only items I am not ready to drive into sorting out are my eyeshadows. 🫣 I'm just definitely not ready for that at this point in time.

@ather, it’s funny (read: eye opening!!!) how many brands I have in my stash that I can do a full (or close to full) face with. Some I knew that to be the case; others were a surprise. It’s so easy to accumulate but takes a while to use up. 😆 I am reminded though that I should use what I have when I pick it up or near that time.

There are some products that I look at and as I use them now; it occurs to me that it would have been better or best suited for me to use around the time I purchased the product (because of my skin type, color, needs, etc). Lesson learned and one I’m hoping I can remember to put into practice with current and future purchase.

 Week 23 recap.

I started out strong, then my eye decided to get inflamed.  I wanted to do a pride look midweek, but had to relent.  Did get a lot of use out of highlighters, so half of my picks were loved.  Love is love!

I think it's magical you got it all in the bag, @danielledanielle how satisfying is that! 👌🤩 I find that part a really enjoyable part of this capsule. Like the first fun part is picking it all out and then trying to arrange it all inside.😄

I do the same thing I think @itsfi said, I went through everything you picked and admired your choices. I haven't brought myself to pick up D'ior's liquid highlighter but I really love the sound of it.

I think they're pretty good.  They aren't troublesome to blend, and the finish on them is nice.  I think I would love to add DIOR Forever Glow Maximizer Longwear Liquid Highlighter 013 Gold , but I think I can dupe it with my stash.  DIOR Forever Glow Maximizer Longwear Liquid Highlighter 017 Nude is the one that gets used a lot at the moment because it basically blends with anything.

@danielledanielle, ugh, so sorry to hear about the eye. I say treat yourself to ice cream. It makes everything better. You know, you could still do a pride look - anytime, also the last week of the month has an "on repeat" component - a "Do Over" / "Take 2" theme, if you will. Juuuust sayin' ... 

I'm going over your capsule list and have found myself saying on multiple occasions "oh, yeah... that's a good one" or "I should grab that one to use". Interested in your thoughts on the Ami Cole lip liner!
