RE: Tom Ford Updates

Radiance Powders and Glow Drops.

L to R: Gilt Glow, Liquid Sun, Luna, Liquid Sky.

(Yes, the names on Sephora are wrong... the ‘white’ products have names that make them sound golden and the ‘peachy‘ products have names that make them sound icy)

Gilt Glow, Liquid Sun, Luna, Liquid SkyGilt Glow, Liquid Sun, Luna, Liquid Sky

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@Mochapj Luna powder looks nothing like the white in the pan!! Thanks for the swatches I may change my mind and get gilt glow instead.

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@blushnglow that's what I was saying in my post above; Sephora has them labeled wrong.

The white powder pan is called Gilt Glow, not Luna. That is how my pan is labeled and also what my SA at Nordstrom told me when she texted me photos originally.

The peachy gold powder pan is called Luna, not Gilt Glow.

The names don't make any sense in relation to the colours they are selling, but that is how they are labeled.

Same goes for the drops. The white drops are labeled Liquid Sun on the bottle. The gold drops are labeled Liquid Sky on the bottle.

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@Mochapj Thank you so much for the detailed clarification -  very confusing.  I hope Sephora sends me the white one if I order Gilt Glow.  We shall see.... Even so, the swatches still lean very golden to me.

Do you like the liquids?? Have you had time to play with them?

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@blushnglow I haven't put the liquids on my face yet; they all just arrived last night. Just from swatching I prefer the Liquid Sun (white) one, as it shows up more on my skin tone. The Liquid Sky (peach) one is too close to my skintone so it just looks kinda sweaty/greasy.

They seem very subtle and not super blingy (which ticks the boxes for my preferences for highlight perfectly). They both actually kind of remind me of these drops I love from Rouge Bunny Rouge called 'Sea of...' - they have a very similar appearance and texture.

I will say though, the drops have one of the worst smells I've ever encountered in makeup. They smell super vinegary (supposedly they're made with aloe) and since I haven't worn them yet I don't know if it lingers, but it was pretty strong when I had the bottle open.

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

Thx @Mochapj for mentioning the smell. I will skip the drops. I hate bad smelling products. I know I won’t use them no matter how good they are.

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

No problem, @blackkitty2014

I was talking to someone else about it and she mentioned that this is the same smell the TF Illuminating Primer has. So I guess I feel a little bit better that this is a 'normal' TF smell, but it's still gross LOL

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@Mochapj Yes, let's hope the "smell" dissipates fairly quickly as that would make it an ideal highlighter for me too.  I'll be using it extremely sparingly given the extremely small amount in the bottle.. 14ml!!

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@Mochapj What you think of the gilt? Impressed or no. 🙂 Debating.

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@Sunnysmom I like Gilt (white pan of powder) more than Luna (peachy pan of powder)

Gilt is a white gold highlight, but on my skintone it also has a tiny bit of a pink shift that makes it sort of interesting and opalescent. I think it might be similar to Becca Vanilla Quartz but I haven't sat down to compare them yet.

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@Mochapj Hmm good to know thanks. I have so many highlighters always looking for another great one but this one looks so pretty. Any similarity to Chanel any season’s? In color or texture, application etc? Sorry for 20 questions! lol. I’ve heard same in the States btw regarding such limited quantities and testers. Frustrating considering price points.

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@Sunnysmom I think Gilt bears some similarities to last year's Chanel Or Blanc in terms of colour. Also because it has so much gold shimmer drowning out the base white shade, it looks pretty similar to the old TF Black Bloom Nightbloom powder.

I'm going to sit down and swatch a few things later to compare. I definitely don't think either shade is terribly unique, but they are well done if you like subtler finishes.

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

Hey thanks @Mochapj. Don’t go to too much trouble but love you for doing it! I do have last year’s Chanel. I don’t love too gold cast to it so that’s why I’m quizzing you. Lol. Warm is good or pinkish also. Thanks as always! 😘

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

Thx for the swatches @Mochapj. I’m getting Gilt Glow for sure 😍 Edit: I bought both duo kohl pencils, haven’t used them yet. Temptalia has horrible ratings for them. I don’t agree with her always lately but it makes me question the pencil qualities. Have you had chance to play with them

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@blackkitty2014 out of the two I prefer Gilt Glow; I think Luna (peach) is a shade that is done quite often and we all probably have dupes of in our collection. I probably have a dupe or two of GG as well, but I'm sure I have 10-15 dupes for Luna, LOL.

I saw T's review of the pencils yesterday and was surprised. I think there are inconsistencies in TF quality this year. My SA was telling me they changed manufacturers this year, and said that has had a lot to do with launches having missing shades (Satin Mattes) and the smaller quantities being available for sale. I'm not sure if it's the same in the US but here my SA was saying for some recent launches they received so few pieces that they opt not to make a tester so they have one extra piece available to sell.

FWIW I've used both pencils and I haven't had an issue. I find the metallic ends to be pretty soft in texture but neither colour is super vibrant; they're pretty muted metallics. I've only used the metallics on my lower lashline (not waterline) and didn't find them tough to work with. I tried the brown end of Solaris this morning to tightline my upper lid (which I never do) and it was smooth and very pigmented so it sounds like T might have a dud. I haven't tried the purple half of Aurora yet but will let you know if it turns out to be troublesome.

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

Thx so much @Mochapj. I don’t mind if they’re not super pigmented. I think I will give them a try soon. 😘

Re: Tom Ford Updates

Both Soleil glow drops are up

TOM FORD - Soleil Glow Drops - Liquid Sky

Re: Tom Ford Updates

@blackkitty2014 First of all, yeah! Second of all, ugh- the ever-changing shade names. Do we think TF has fixed it for this batch (and that’s why Luna & Liquid Sky apply to the more white/pearlescent shades now and vice versa)? Or do we think Sephora has messed them up?

Re: Tom Ford Updates

@rose41 I bought them from a different retailer and it seems that TF themselves may have made a shade naming error and just ran with it.

In both cases the white powder and liquid are Gilt Glow and Liquid Sun and the golden powder and liquid are Luna and Liquid Sky.

They all seem a little backwards to me, but what can ya do? 😄

Re: Tom Ford Updates

@Mochapj @blackkitty2014 Thank you to both of you! I originally thought the names might have been a mistake, but it does make sense for TF to just go with it. Changing it around now would probably just cause more confusion! Hopefully Sephora fixes that on the website before the $25 off begins!

Re: Tom Ford Updates

@rose41, most likely it's Sephora.  Last week, i think around Black Friday weekend, i cant even add stuffs onto my cart.  lol
