I realized we don't have an OOTD, outfit of the day thread, which isn't needed but can still be a lot of fun.  It's dress up for me, but make it adult.

This was part spurred by my natural hair journey, Tress Trek - A Transition Journal from Relaxer to Natural and NYFW and Zendaya.  99% Zendaya.

@itsfi , TY! I know it's not an exact Lou fit, but the shiny shirt dress, the shades and the leopard details makes it more so.

I think these sunglasses were picked up at a lunch break during jury duty.  I needed some shiny stuff and there they were, never thought I'd get this much use out of them.  I feel like the best accessories are usually the ones we "just picked up."

The whole ensemble has Lou vibes @danielledanielle, but I agree, the accessories really bring it together - it's in the details. It's fun seeing how everyone puts together the looks, whether it's a replication of the original or an adaptation of it. 

I have to say I've discovered some of the best things before jury duty or during the lunch break during jury duty - a new-to-me coffee shop, a new perfume, a new lunch spot, etc.

Here we are, the last of my inspired outfits from the original The Devil Wears Prada movie 🎥 (shameless plug - The Devil Wears Prada 2 slated to hit theaters 5.1.2026). These outfits were inspired from the film's ending scene. As Stanley Tucci's Nigel would say "All right everyone, gird your loins!"

Starting off with the new assistant. A very small part in the film, but Emily and Andy were once Miranda’s assistants. I don’t even think they credit her character with a name and she doesn't have a verbal speaking part, but she's the one to whom Emily remarks (in praise of Andy) "You have some very large shoes to fill. I hope you know that."

The Fit: The outfit the character wears in the film is far more stylish, even just the one shot. I kept it classic, straightforward.

Emily Charlton is one of the film's characters whose background I wish we knew more about. We saw Andy’s first day; what was Emily’s first day like? She loves fashion, and does try so desperately to please Miranda or live up to what she (Emily) believes is expected of her. But, how did she arrive at Runway? And, what are the other facets of her when she's away from Runway - is she ever far away from Runway?

Emily's fashion style is like her personality in the film- fierce and sassy. I would not describe myself or my fashion style as fierce or sassy. To try to copy Emily's look would make me look like a small child who raided her older sister's closet. But, I wanted to use her look in her final scene as inspo and an homage. 

I love the jacket Emily wears in her final scene in the first film. I debated whether to go with a similar plaid print Black Halo Jackie O dress, but that dress style, while beautiful, seemed a smidge too mainstream and corporate for Emily. So, after scouring my closet, the internet and a couple consignment shops in town, here we are. 

The Fit:

• Plaid blazer, amazon of all places
• Midi length dress with halter top and pleated bottom, A.L.C. - this I found at a consignment shop, while out of a walk. I know, I know - how very convenient that I happened to walk past a consignment shop, right?! That's my story and I'm sticking to it. 😉

• Purple suede pumps, Sam Edelman - a nod to Emily's purple belt in this scene
• Clutch, Cuyana
• Earrings & bracelet, Alexis Bittar - these were part of the Jacqueline Follet inspired outfit earlier this year.

• Hmmmm, I went to tag the Gucci lip liner, but is Sephora no longer carrying them? It seems Gucci has discontinued (?) their lip pencils as they don't appear on the brand's site (but are available at Macy's online). Anyhow, Gucci Crayon Contour des Lèvres Long-Lasting Lip Liner Pencil 04 Rouge, a subtley orange-based red. I paired it with Rhode peptide lip treatment, unscented & clear.

Miranda Priestly is a force, for sure. Her outfits, of course, are always polished and put together. I mean, the pajamas she's wearing in the scene where Andy stops by to bring her the copy of the yet to be released Harry Potter book for the twins, look fancier than the fanciest piece I own. 😅

The Fit:

• Black, high bateau neck sheath, Karen Millen - yes, this dress appeared in a previous TDWP inspired outfit. My version of Miranda wears her pieces more than once. 😊
• Black windowpane coat - I found this some time ago at a boutique in Seattle, Washington. I'm pretty sure it's a design patterned off of a Lanvin coat. The Lanvin one came in black as here, and a white one with black windowpane patterning, but both were full length coats.
• Black oversized rectangular sunglasses, Burberry
• Coral, orange, rust gem necklace, Kate Spade
• Assortment of rings
• Black suede pointy toe pumps
• Quilted tote

Finally, we have Andy Sachs, who has left her job at Runway and is embarking on a new career, her dream career, in jounalism. I thought about replicating Andy's outfit from the ending scene, but opted to be inspired by it instead, making it a little more business casual.

• Deep navy single breasted trench with dark tan trim - no idea where or when I got this; it was in the back of the closet in the guest bedroom.
• Pointy toe, ankle wrap heels, Steve Madden
• Dark red skinny belt
• Top handle bag, Mulberry
• Red tiger's eye necklace - this was part of the outfit inspired by the Nigel character, an ode to Nigel who helped Andy navigate the fashion world and Miranda.

There's been leaks / sneak peaks of the fashion for the second film and that's sparked some ideas. Also, I've gotten it in my head to try reinterpreting some outfits worn by the Oceans 8 cast. heehee, this has been a fun movie to find inspiration for outfits @danielledanielle! The characters are great, too, so it ups the fun quotient even more. I'll work on inspo from Ocean's 8 and The Devil Wears Prada 2 on parallel tracks - should be easier with fall around the corner. I need to do a little digging, but I'm fairly certain I can do a full Fenty face for Rihanna's Nine Ball inspired look. 😍

The Fit: RTR, Stella Nova Out of Office topwith Sephora Swag 😎 (the Daphne Dover bag, bag charm and sunglasses from a virtual event)

The Fab: Riding the Devil Wears Prada wave with @itsfi , this is from the sequel.

The Face: after a brush washing day, I go either very light on makeup or do "all hands on deck" or what i sometimes call "fingerpainting". I did a decent smoky eye with the Makeup by Mario Eyeshadows 

The Fit: Kahindo. I thought the jacket was going to be too much, but sometimes you just gotta go for it. 

The Fab: I love a graphic print, especially something that's connecting me to my heritage, and in a suit form!  The jacket makes it suit-y, underneath is actually a romper.

The Face: ugh, I don't remember.. Will have to look back

The Fab: the dress is voluminous in the right places, but still gives a bit of snatching.  I went back and forth on purchasing this, gave in.  I also love my fro in progress 

The Face: I was definitely into face mapping this week, needed to blend out the eye just a bit more, but it still kinda works

Oh goodness, I can't pick which outfit I like most @danielledanielle. Tell me they are taking up permanent residency in your closet! If any of these are from RTR, get them Get. Them!!! These are fab. That green geo print suit looks stunning on you - the necklace and cat eye sunnies, girl!!! 😍 And I love that eye look and the whole ensemble with the mint green suiting.

Ummm, Anne Hathaway and the DWP2 team should be taking some inspo from you with your outfit! The ice cream cone on the shirt adds such a fun touch and, is that the Sephora x Dagne Dover phone sling and Sephora x Bauble Bar lipstick charm?!!!

We're back with another round of looks inspired by The Devil Wears Prada. This time, I took my cue from various characters in the infamous Cerulean scene. Some of these outfits go back to late winter / early spring. I thought I would revisit other characters in the fall but since yesterday was the first day in over a month that the sun was out for the entire day, I've had plenty of occasions to try a couple of other outfits inspired by this scene.

Since today is National Lipstick Day, "The Face" entry will be about the lip products I wore with each look.

I've been dying to do the pop of red (again, I think I was subconsciously channeling Janelle all along) and saw a good smoky neutral eye with a red lip by (IG: paintedbyspencer), so with a neutral outfit, this was the time.

This whole look, from head to toe, is amazing @danielledanielle. Dandy with a modern flair. The sleeves on that shirt has some good volume to it - enough to hold its own with the wide leg pants and your obi cumberbund ties the look together while letting the top & bottom stand out on their own. 😍 A big YES to a red lip. It's the perfect pop of color for your lips and the entire look!

Dandy-ish

The Fit: Simkhai asymmetrical shirt dress. I love the pinstripes, and while I have blue loafers, I wasn't sure about the weather that day.  I liked how the tan have contrast but also compliments my coloring. 

The Fab: I'm interested in seeing how many "menswear" elements I can combine for work.  I wish the dress had a upper pocket because I'd think a pocket square would be killer.  I also thought broach, but I don't have many of those and I'm pretty picky about pins.  The motorcycle jacket is on its last days, but it still works as a blazer.

The Face: If I can't work at the beach, I'll bring the beach to work with Ace Beauté Oceanic Palette and VIOLETTE_FR YEUX PAINT Liquid Eyeshadow & Eyeliner Dieu Bleu 

The Fit: "Corset for the boardroom" 😂 Normally, I'd wear a corset over a shirt or a dress, but this time, I had it underneath a shirt dress.  Gotta keep things interesting for myself. RTR for the corset and trousers.  Everything else (shoes, shirt, earrings) my own (D'IYANU and Marc Jacobs)

The Fab: Still dandying it up. Any way I can remix menswear , I'm going to do it. I like the detail on the back of the trousers in particular and the studded shoes. 

The Face 

Ace Beauté Oceanic Palette with Danessa Myricks Beauty Mini Pastel Dream Freedom Palette is 🤌🏽🤌🏽

The Fit: Been waiting to get my hands on this Boss Fit.  The sizing on this is crazy.  I am not a size 2, but this blazer apparently is 🙃🤷🏽‍♀️

The Fab: I didn't know what shirt to pair with this and I overslept, so I grabbed what I thought works and made it werk.  I feel the suit definitely calls to Miami Vice with my sunglasses pairing.  I also am not a soro, but felt the Green + Pink of AKAs would work.  The denim from my shoes and tote keeps it laid back.  I think of I had time, this would've been a very different look... Black loafers, slick back hair, but I'm not mad it.  It's giving "cool with chaotic undertone" 😂

The Face: Very soft Glam.... Again, not what I planned, but what happened.  Deets to be posted in

Where to start @danielledanielle ..? Rocking each fit as always. I'm loving the dandy look: what a great dress. I think the nude shoes look amazing but can see how blue would work just as well in a totally different way. You literally saved my you know what yesterday as I saw this post while I was getting ready to go with a friend to happy hour and flailing to find the right fit. I saw your "corset" just because look and was like...YASSS! Put a structured vest over my tee and finally felt like it was an outfit. Thank you, thank you! And that's not even mentioning the Boss look - I die.

First time, yes @itsfi because I went from basically not wearing earrings for years to this.  😂

I'm getting used to the weight on my Hoops again.  A lot of the time, they rest on my shoulders.

Uh, picked up a tip from IG: thebeautydebut, where she placed stickers on the back of the ears to help with the weight.  I realized I can use acne colloidal patches the same way instead of buying something, and also when I googled this later, you can also cut a band-aid into pieces and use the adhesive part the same way.  I also give my ears a break and wear them every other day.

Another look, or looks really, inspired by The Devil Wears Prada's Miranda Priestly. 

I had a few ideas in mind for outfits inspired by Meryl Streep's Miranda Priestly when I put together the first OOTD earlier this year - Miranda Priestly OOTD 1. I mentioned in that post having 4 MP-inspired looks. This is look #2 and it's 4 different outfits, one for each season, all inspired by the "trench coat" scene.

The Inspo:

Many of these pieces have been part of other Fit, Fab, Face outfits of the day. There's 4 look boards so I'll try to be deep and brief with the FFF details, focusing primarily on pieces that haven't been part of a previous OOTD. Living in the city means mild temperatures throughout the year, for the most part. It also means that it's altogether possible (and in fact happened this week) that I can dress for spring and fall/winter weather within days of each other. A couple of these OOTDs were from earlier this year, but I've been waiting to curate a look with all seasons before posting.

• Heather beige cashmere sweater and camisole. Sweater is from C by Bloomingdale's. fyi, these are great staples and routinely go on sale during the holidays.

• the cropped trench jacket, mainly because I got it on sale after eyeing it for months
• flat hair clip - I'm loving flat hair clips. They're gentler on my scalp, in general, and the many times during the day when I lean my head back (ngl, sometimes in deep exasperation 🙄). @PrettyPaint , I picked up a couple more flat hair clips since we last chatted  about them).

Summer Fit:

• Cotton-linen blend high neck top, from amazon
• White cotton linen palazzo pants - the one pictured seems to have more structure than my pair. I wear the detachable sash as a bow to the side
• Black cardigan, worn tied over my shoulders
• Red, square Mary Jane flats with basketweave design, Rothy's
• Raffia cluth with black leather trim, Liselle Kiss - it comes with a gold chain but I wear it more often as a clutch, I picked it up during one of half yearly Nordstrom sales last year
• Filigree earrings and bangle bracelet give the look an easy breezy feel

Summer Fab:

• the top - the back, with the buttons, adds a fun touch

Summer Face:

• Tinted sunblock of some sort + MAKEUP BY MARIO SoftSculpt Transforming Skin Enhancer® as an all over shade (with a light hand) to match my slightly tanner mug + Finding Ferdinand blush in Pho (a blood/wine red hue). This combo was from Summer Cheek Challenge 2025: A Song & A Slay If I feel like I want to bronze or add contour, I would reach for the DIOR Forever 24H Skin Contour Stick Sculpting and Bronzing Face Stick
