I realized we don't have an OOTD, outfit of the day thread, which isn't needed but can still be a lot of fun. It's dress up for me, but make it adult.
This was part spurred by my natural hair journey, Tress Trek - A Transition Journal from Relaxer to Natural and NYFW and Zendaya. 99% Zendaya.
The Fit- this can be your attire, or what has arisen from the Capsule Challenge, your makeup bag. Hair and fragrance "fits" count, too
The Fab - What you loved enough to be inspired by or loved the most about your look
The Face - the proooodduccctsss, so I can add to my loves list, y'all. Or a pic of your face
Note: posting your actual self is optional. Feel free to post pics or lists of what you included. This really is about seeing what others are doing and getting inspired to try or retry things.
Also feel free to cross post to existing threads (and browse)
Capsule Makeup Collection Challenge 2025
What are you wearing in 2025??
Great thread! I would love to see and learn more of your style tips. I’m rarely very put together and Colorado is so casual most of the time, but always looking for inspiration! @danielledanielle
@sister13, I'm no fashionista, but I have to disagree - I love your casual and dressed up looks - clothes, hair and makeup. 😍
Exactly @itsfi . Your tinsel in hair is already 💯 @sister13 and I loved your looks at Sephoria, esp the sundress
Also r\t your comment - I am just happy to talk about clothing and style choices whenever, I always like looking at how people put things together, even if they don't realize how put together they are. Like, my BF hunt for comfy pants and trends from high school, but we have very different tastes. We can definitely shop together, and I can kind of guess what she gravitates to and she the same. She has specific nails and brow needs, so sometimes I all about those, but I enjoy her style as is.
I don't have hard set rules, but I kind of fall into specific trends or habits and go from there. Like if I like a look, I'll try to recreate it, but also if I enjoy a trend, I try to do it in a way that suits me (like the vest as shirt one). Apparently suiting is also a trend, but I just like wearing brightly colored suits.
Thank you so much! @danielledanielle @I definitely have done less shopping for clothes since the pandemic and working from home. I do like to add some fun jewelry when I have a moment!
These are from last week(?) before(?)
The Fit: Banana Republic, which is where most of my stuff comes from for work. Sales, y'all. It's a really flowy, ivory drapey jumpsuit with a reversible shawl
The Fab: This is inspired by Zendaya's red carpet looks for Dune 2, minus the robot suit
The Face: inspired by an ad, this used PAT McGRATH LABS Mothership I Eyeshadow Palette - Subliminal and then I went pretty neutral elsewhere. Definitely had Ami Colé Hydrating Lip Treatment Oil Happy and Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Fenty Cheeks Suede Waterproof Powder Blush Bakin' Cakez in the mix
This was a lot of fun. Hair was a work in progress, but I dove into the vest as shirt trend that I think was also Zendaya inspired
The Fit: on old old Navy vest with BR relaxed trousers
The Fab: I didn't love the vest as a shirt trend at first, but I was going through my clothes too give things away and found this. I liked the colors and I like argyle, so I figured, let's give this a shot. Easy work outfit because nothing needed to be iron vs a button up. I liked how it looks! Sometimes a trend can work. I also love my loafers.
The Face: I think this is Mothership I, but I opted for all neutral eye
The Fit: This was my second attempt at Bantu Knots, done loosely. Also used hair clips from kitsch. It's not immaculate or neat, but my hair is cleaned and styled, so I didn't give a 🤬. I was vibing off a forum post about natural hair and NOT having to do 1000 steps to manipulate it.. Just care for your hair and let it be, which I did. And yup, the same blue blazer is here, but I'm wearing a floral dress and sneakers.
The Fab: remember Riri circa Rated R? There's some of that, plus the fun of OutKast 's Andre 3000 and the mismatched eye liner look from a few years ago, only I decided to use shadow. I love how it came out actually.
The Face: Ami Colé Lid Joy Matte Liquid Eyeshadow St. Louis & Ami Colé Lid Joy Matte Liquid Eyeshadow Los Angeles serve as bases here with Danessa Myricks Lightwork III here.
You look amazing in both outfits! So cool! @danielledanielle
Thank you! @sister13
@danielledanielle awesome idea for a thread, I have been thinking that I wished we had an OOTD thread here on BIC!
It's funny, I saw your first outfit pic and thought "that reminds me of the costumes from Dune" and then I read that you were inspired by Zendaya's red carpet looks for Dune 2 😂 so I think you were spot on! Looks super stylish on you, and I love the combination of your stunning blue eyeshadow with the neutral look.
The vest look is super cute as well! And I love the Bantu knots! I think that is such a cool hairstyle and it looks great on you!
So much awesomeness and inspiration here! 💜
Thanks @caitbird for the kind words! I will admit that your comment in Re: BIC's 2024 Summer Kick-Off Thread! ☀️ about Bantu Knots made me try them myself vs getting it from a stylist. It wasn't as easy as expected, but easy enough for me to do it a couple of times.
Yay! Glad you like the idea, please also post up some of your looks. I always appreciate your colorways\use of color. I also saw a really cool collared shirt you posted in the Gallery (it was black and red) and I was like,,, "oooh where did she get that 👀"
@danielledanielle thank you, that is so nice of you to say! The black & red collared outfit I wore recently is actually a dress! It's by Hell Bunny and I got mine from Modcloth. It's one of my favorite dresses. This is what it looks like (pic from Google):
Oh, it's a dress?!? This is cuuuuutttee @caitbird . I would totally use this as an excuse to dress up like Lucille Ball, and don some gloves, orrrrr, oh a more vamp version of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's
@danielledanielle thank you! Ooh, Lucille Ball or vampy Audrey Hepburn sounds so cute...might have to save those ideas for later inspo 👀
@danielledanielle great idea for a thread!
Thank you! I hope you drop in with your fashion finds! @greeneyedgirl107
The Fit:
WEEK 38 of Capsule Challenge, Latinx Brands
I have a lip from Poundcake beauty and a palette from Ace Beauté that wanted to come out this week, in addition to my Rare Beauty Beauties
Clothes are Rent the Runway, which I highly encourage , it's fun to switch it up
The Fab:
The hourglass shape the skirt gives, fake it to ya make it...plus the colors give me 70s chic with a little fall
The Face:
It's definitely about Poundcake Bloodberry, here, but I've also been playing with more negative space/matte eye looks with the inner corners highlight/shimmer.
Gorgeous, love that fall vibe and the mustard too! @danielledanielle
@danielledanielle this is such a cute outfit, and I love your red lip and how you echoed it with your eyeshadow!
Lookin’ snatched from head to toe, @danielledanielle ❣️
Bloodberry looks stunning on you and your eye makeup! I’m always impressed that you’re always trying something new. I was looking at the lip oils from Poundcake Beauty (but I stayed strong and stuck to my low(er)-ish buy mind-frame. Their reds, are absolutely gorgeous!!!, but they make my inner red lip scaredy cat 🙀 retreat 🫣 😝
Thank you! @itsfi
Lip oils! I knoooooow, I almost caved, too. I was wondering if they were ever going to make another product, and low and behold, the lip oil!!! I almost picked them up from Ulta via BOPIS, but they weren't actually available at that store, so I'll hold off vs making a trip crosstown.
You can soft matte, blur these out btw, they have that mousse consistency like the Rare Beauty ones, so they don't really set, but you can get a nice stain with them... It's still red, but less so if you don't want a bold, bold red.
