I realized we don't have an OOTD, outfit of the day thread, which isn't needed but can still be a lot of fun.  It's dress up for me, but make it adult.

This was part spurred by my natural hair journey, Tress Trek - A Transition Journal from Relaxer to Natural and NYFW and Zendaya.  99% Zendaya.

The Fit- this can be your attire, or what has arisen from the Capsule Challenge, your makeup bag.  Hair and fragrance "fits" count, too


The Fab - What you loved enough to be inspired by or loved the most about your look


The Face - the proooodduccctsss, so I can add to my loves list, y'all. Or a pic of your face

This immediately gave me Debbie Harry, so to see you mention it after seeing your pic, it's *chef kiss*  I always enjoy your walkthroughs.  I am so glad you're joining in on using the pretties.  You are wearing that tweed!

Another look inspired by The Devil Wears Prada; this time, Miranda Priestly. The first of 4. 

The Fit:

• Aubergine sheath dress with boat neckline and bell sleeves, Calvin Klein, circa 2018?? The bell sleeves are a nod to the sleeves on Miranda's fabulous coat in the inspo outfit. 
• Black wool blend belted wrap coat, with faux-leather trim and belt, Tahari. He is one of my favorite designers when it comes to coats.
• Black stretch belt, circa the aughts. I knew there was a reason I kept it all this time, lol.
• Sheer black tights, probably Target or perhaps the Hanes outlet store
• Burgundy patent heels with black patent trim and bow, Prada. Because The Devil Wears Prada  😉
• Kate Spade Bristol Drive Croc White Embossed Leather Tote - this make for a great work bag
• David Yurman Crossover Hoop Earrings in mixed metals
• Black leather gloves, Coach Outlet, from at least a decade ago
• Black oversized "squectangular" sunglasses
• Blue light blocking glasses

The Face:

Makeup extracted from a larger capsule for the Week 14 makeup capsule challenge. Add-ons are the tor and sculpture (greys) shadows from ND Biba. In a nod to Meryl Streep's guest role in Only Murders In The Building in which Selena Gomez is one of the leads, I'm going with Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Soft Pinch Liquid Blush Hope  for a soft flush of color.

Awww, thank you @caitbird! The staples in the MP characters wardrobe are classic pieces so that helps a lot since my closet has mostly work basics. Her character definitely ups the looks with how everything is styled, especially the jewelry, which stretches me a bit. I used to wear more jewelry with my everyday looks, so this has been giving me a chance to go back into the pieces I have, and do some mixing and matching with a few newer items that come out every so often.

Yes, ma'am, one of 4 Miranda looks. They're actually the 4 from that Miranda Priestly guide in your post @danielledanielle. I was pretty sure I could cobble something that could be inspired by 3 of the looks, and have been noodling on how to go about making one last one work. I have some supporting character outfits too but some are more challenging than others.

@PDXXXX, thank you so much. This has made going through my boxes and my closet for "spring cleaning" so much more fun. Oh my goodness, I remember going back and forth on the dress - do I get it in purple. I usually wear it with black pumps but since the character has red suede shoes with a bow, I decided to give it a try, and to wear a belt with it. The dress is still available - if you do a search for "Calvin Klein bell sleeve" it should pull up images of it and other similar silhouettes.

My weight has been fluctuating, so I've been doing the thing where I'm trying on clothes to see what fits and flatters while channeling my inner "beauty at all sizes" muse Selena.

THE FIT: 

Leaning into the leopard trend with this skirt I got ages ago on sale at Nordstroms. I love me some neutral leopard without orange tones and the slip skirt silhouette makes it a timeless piece. 

Let's be honest, it's way too brrr outside for this AG cropped t-shirt. But I wanted to play with proportion a bit and create the illusion of a higher waistline and come up with a look I can reach for as it warms up.

Then I took the look 90s with my Frye harness booties. And added a vintage bracelet.

THE FAB:

A better view of the coloring of the skirt, a vintage coral bracelet I found on Etsy a few years back, and my current favorite perfume by Matiere Premiere, "Bois D'Ebene."

THE FACE:

I've been playing with the Saie Glowy Super Skin Tint Foundation with Hyaluronic Acid 1 and the color is a dream but it's not blending well! Still haven't given up on finding a primer/foundation cocktail for this one yet.

I also just picked up #Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Soft Pinch Liquid Contour in the lightest shade and I am blown away by the color. Same with #Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Positive Light Liquid Highlight in Mesmerize (rose/gold).

I've finally found a nude lipliner I like with #Makeup By Mario Lip Sculpting Pencil in Dmitri. I'm loving it with Summer Fridays Dream Lip Oil for Moisturizing Sheer Coverage Bare Sand .

@PDXXXX  this look/outfit is so cute! I love the boots and the bracelet especially, I would totally wear both! The overall silhouette of the whole outfit is fantastic, too. I normally hate leopard print, but I actually like this - I think because it's very neutral, like you said.

@itsfi thank you - it was such a fun find. I'm not so much for jewelry but when I do wear it it's usually one statement piece. I love that that one packs such a punch when I'm wanting a pop of red!

Wow @PDXXXX I LOVE the big black boots with the leopard print skirt ,very sexy. I'm a big fan to of #Saie Glowy Super Gel Lightweight Dewy Multipurpose Illuminator Roseglow and Summer Fridays Dream Lip Oil for Moisturizing Sheer Coverage . I always go for a pinkish tint. Kinda close to a  nude look. I think u look amazing.

The Fit: Red BR suit with Kate Spade dress worn as a blouse

The Fab: For the dress from RTR, and the idea to pair a red suit with a leopard print.  The red suit becomes kind of a neutral against a print IMO

 

The Face: Kinda Riri inspired, but using all sticks because it's STICKWEEK in Capsule Makeup Collection Challenge 2025 .  The red lip is all Ma'Damn the Mattemoiselle which was MVP before there was MVP, IMO
