Is this in French, because I don't know any French.  Unless you count "au contraire ", which means "in the country".

I was "au contraire" today, making many cow and sheep friends.

@AmdSeph @Babypeachist @greenchilli I don't want to pile on, but I just have to say I do think this is an important point, and one of the things I love about BT is that people are willing to stick up for the right thing.  We all make mistakes, and I know how frustrating that experience must have been for you.  The important thing is to realize when you have made a mistake and move on.  I know people on BT are (in my experience) very kind and accepting.  

My research in college was on implicit attitudes and stereotypes, and not to bore you, but one of the main implications of my research was to avoid furthering stereotypes via implications that align with our implicit attitudes.  What that implies is that while what you said may not strike you as wrong, it does further harmful stereotypes by associating an ethnicity with a derogatory term.  Implicit bias decreases more slowly than explicit bias, so while I know it can feel oppressive to watch that what you say is "politically correct", it is important to create a more equitable, less biased future world.

All I wanna do is to politely point out, "that snob corrected me when I pronounced it in French" would serve the purpose of delivering you message, unless you@ArvSeph think the salesperson being Asian played an important part of your bad experience.

I'm also sorry that I'd like to try as politically correct as possible in order to respect those who post on this board and everyone else in general.

There's a difference between "unnecessary" and "honest mistake". Please don't try to turn this around on somebody else and own up to your comment.

Sadly, in this case, I don't think any of us are being overly sensitive. You might not have intended to offend, but adding race into your statement is not needed and comes off as derogatory, especially since it would not have changed how we interpreted/understood your post. That's all we're trying to tell you; we're not calling you racist, but just trying to point out that wasn't necessary.

Why did you feel that it was more important to use somebody's race to be 'descriptive' ? How does that affect a person's ability to sell a product?

If you're talking to a Bay manager about your 'unsatisfactory' experience then it could be useful to use descriptive adjectives to help identify a person. However, on a message board, that's all just abstract and (irrelevant) information.

Rather than tell people that they're oversensitive or sexist, use this opportunity to engage in a constructive dialog that may help you understand where others are coming from.

Otherwise it's just poor behavior and acting no better than the SA.

@AmdSeph I would correct the incorrect pronoun I used then. It was unintentional, but apparently inaccurate. 

Also, no one has called you racist.

Ok, I rarely vent here, but just that one last inbox notification...I cannot wear a lipstick shade named "deceased".  The name grosses me out, and I almost never use that word (as well).  I get all of the cute, dark analogies though I outgrew them at 16.  But at a certain point things aren't cute any more.  They're just in bad taste (looking at you JS).

Lipstick is pretty; it isn't supposed to make you feel like a corpse.  Ick.
