Let's keep this thread on topic!

Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):

Spoiler

Item #1 - $53.50

Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)

* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x

Total Spent - $162

Base Points Earned - 162

Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)

5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)

5x Item/Brand Earned - 434

Total Points Earned - 1285

Spoiler

Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.

Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.

The product id is the number given to the item in the URL.  So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number.  If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.

It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.

Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar.  It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204  Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.

My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:

(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward.  E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward.  Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase.  Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@greeneyedgirl107  Ulta's been redesigning their site for at least a month. For a while, I couldn't even log into my account because the "sign in" link kept quickly disappearing from the main nav of all Ulta pages. 🤦‍♀️ I complained to them about it (hopefully I'm not the only one who did) and about a week later, I noticed it was fixed. So if you're having site issues, try using Ulta's site feedback link to report bugs. Their dev team (whether in-house or contractor) might not know of all current issues—and considering the way Ulta seems to do IT/design-related things, that wouldn't surprise me.

Some pages are still in the old site design, like all my account pages. That's fun because those pages are missing the persistent top nav, including the cart link. 😂 On a positive note, I notice I don't get randomly logged out nearly as often as I used to. And I kinda like the recent updates to the cart page(s). Kinda. I also like how they changed the method of filtering product results; the old way always drove me nuts from a usability perspective. (Scrolling through the old filter boxes was an unexpected challenge via certain browsers.) I'm still getting used to the new overall navigation scheme, though.

That reminds me that you might wanna try clearing all your Ulta-related cookies if you haven't yet, and if your browser lets you delete site-specific cookie. (Chrome does.) The cookie dance doesn't always fix issues, but it's worth trying.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@WinglessOne thanks so much for taking the time to type all this!!!  I cleared my cookies on my desktop but the problem persists.  I contacted CS and was informed by Ulta that they are unaware of any site issues!  I wish I could find that email and copy and paste it here. I'll have to look more closely to find that "site feedback link" you mentioned.   I'm being pulled in so many directions recently it's hard to keep up.  Bookmarked your response.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@greeneyedgirl107  Heh, I'm not surprised Ulta CS doesn't know what's happening with the redesign, especially if CS and/or design/dev/IT are contracted out.

On the homepage, look at the far right edge of the screen and you should see a small black "Feedback" box. (If the sign in pane slides open, close that; it covers up the feedback box.) That black box is a link to where you can submit website issues.

If you don't see the little black box, look down in the site footer > “Get Help” column of links > “Feedback” link (showing as last link in that column for me).

Re: Ulta GWPs

@WinglessOne this is excellent info!  I'm bookmarking this for when I have more time to let them know in more detail what's going on.  It's driving me crazy.

Re: Ulta GWPs

It’s that prestige coupon time again! Check your emails, title may be “Ooo, $10 off? 😉👏 All right here!”

P.S. Since the member offer last Sunday was “5x new and exclusive” instead of “5x fragrance” like last year, do we think Ulta might do a switcheroo and drop 5x fragrance multiplier THIS Sunday? I sure hope so.

Re: Ulta GWPs

Is this a unique or generic code?

Re: Ulta GWPs

@Maria88 @It’s a unique code.

Re: Ulta GWPs

Re: Ulta GWPs

Just saw on Reddit that there is an in store only $10 bonus card with purchase of two $25 gift cards. There may still be the $20 bonus with $100 e-gift card purchase later on, or there might not this year.

IMG_2584.jpeg

Re: Ulta GWPs

@civ2ru I made a special trip in-store for this.  What the fine print on my promotional e-mail didn't say, is that the $10 bonus only starts 5/15/23, and it only good until about mid-way through July or something.  This is my first experience with this sort of deal, and I was not impressed with the shadiness.  I plan on contacting CS.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@civ2ru I didn't realize until after I purchased,  so I'm doubly irritated.   I just contacted CS.  I thought by law GC couldn't expire.  @RGbrown are you able to weigh in on this?  I know you have good knowledge at this sort of thing.  Thanks!

ETA: I see the $10 is listed as a "bonus" card.  I guess that's how they're getting around the GC law.  I couldn't read that or the dates on my email.  Jeez.  How much scrutiny do I have to go through?

Re: Ulta GWPs

@greeneyedgirl107

Yeah, it's not a true gift card, it's a "bonus" or "reward", same as when they do the online bonuses. After the 15th though, you should be able to merge it with one of the regular gift cards (hopefully, at least...we've always been able to in the past, but goodness knows if Ulta has changed that since Xmas), so you won't have to worry about the expiration date.

Gift cards can expire; federal law says they must be valid for at least five years after activation, but there's no stipulation that they last forever.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@RGbrown thanks so much for the info on both points!!! Good to know.  Should I call CS to merge the $10 bonus card with the GC, or can they handle it in store?

Re: Ulta GWPs

@greeneyedgirl107

You can do it yourself! Two ways:

1. In the app, select "contact us" from the main menu, then "chat", then "merge gift cards". The system will prompt you to enter the card numbers and pins of the cards you want to merge, and combine them together for you.

2. Huh, well, I saw it a few days ago, but I'm not seeing it today. This stupid site redesign is driving me nuts. Anyway, sometimes it's on the GC page on the full site too, I assume it'll eventually be permanent, but for now it comes and goes. From the main menu, select "shop" then "gift cards" and sometimes it displays below the check balance tool.

You can handle it in store as well, if you'd rather. Buy a $35 or $60 GC, and pay with your bonus card and one or both gcs.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@RGbrown this is really helpful info!  Thanks so much for taking the time to type it all out.  I'm bookmarking it for 5/15.

Re: Ulta GWPs

I have never been able to use two gift cards on one purchase.
