Let's keep this thread on topic!
Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):
Item #1 - $53.50
Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)
* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x
Total Spent - $162
Base Points Earned - 162
Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)
5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)
5x Item/Brand Earned - 434
Total Points Earned - 1285
Links are not allowed. In lieu of links, please read this:
Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.
Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.
The product id is the number given to the item in the URL. So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number. If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.
It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.
Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar. It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204 Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.
My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:
(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward. E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward. Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase. Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.
Multiplier | 1 | 1.25 | 1.5 | 2 | 2.25 | 2.5 | 3 | 3.25 | 3.5 | 4 | 4.25 | 4.5 | 5 | 7.25 | 7.5 | 8 | 8.25 | 8.5 | 9 | 9.25 | 9.5 | 10 | 10.25 | 10.5 |

Not cool, Ulta, not cool
I know, this is so disappointing! I thought maybe they'd put it up at 12 CST instead of EST since that's usually when they update their website, but still nothing 😞
I agree! What was the countdown for?
I know....but they didn’t deliver any news so ...why do the countdown. Hype On their part ( sigh)
I assume glitch/programming error on their part, not false hype. That's not usually Ulta's style. 🙂
A new multiplier!
Nice stack if you were lucky enough to get the 5x/anything last week (not me 😥) since that one is good through the 1st
And I dunno about you, but I typically try to wait and spend points with a 20%, stretching those points even further. $157 goes down $125.60 after 20% off, making the grand total $216.60 spent for $373 of product, making the overall discount 42.09%
9.25x is always a good deal 😄
Mmm. Mmm, did my ladies call it, or did my ladies call it:
I'm not impressed @ClassicallyFab If this is true I think Ulta is overreaching a bit unfortunately. Hopefully they don't take things away from the Platinum-level.
I agree a bit too...in and of itself, an extra .25 and fs at $25 isn't much of an incentive to spend $1000...but really truly we can't tell much until we see what the whole revamp is about. If there are other new levels, I'd almost guess "platinum" is gonna be renamed and benefits may change to make Diamond appear a bit more prestigious than the others.
I've said this before in other places around BIC, so it may be a repeat read (sorry if so!), but the free shipping Sephora offers is likely quite expensive and I would imagine that's why the rest of their rewards program is rather lackluster. I much prefer Ulta's points/gwp's/rewards as a whole, even if it means I have to cough up a bit more to get that FS. So I'm cool with still having to spend $25 even when (yes when, not if 😅 ) I hit Diamond.
And frankly, I've had Sephora slap my hand for "abusing free shipping" with orders that were "too small" (I was stalking Formula X polish earlier this year and placed tons of small orders as they went in and out of stock frequently and quickly), so I'd just as soon have a retailer tell me there's a minimum up front instead of deciding to place arbitrary limits on an "unlimited" service after the fact.
We should have full deets in 23ish hours, assuming they release the page right at midnight central. I'm perhaps overly nervous for what will in reality be a minor change in my life (it's just a rewards program after all...not life or death 😄) but I really just wanna know how this shakes out. 🤞
Well when you put it that way, @RGbrown, you're right. With Sephora I often find myself spending at least $25 despite free shipping because I figure I might as well snag a promo.
That said it's not a good motivator for (my shopping at) Ulta. As a very conscious shopper (not a jab at anyone just my shopping habits) $1000+ at Ulta is unrealistic to me at this stage. Now if they continue to grow and expand their higher end options that could change. Ultimately time will tell.
Ulta is definitely looking to become *the* superstore...more and more new brands practically every day. I hope they keep it up and really give their competitor a run for the high-end dollar! 😄
Yes! And considering recent additions it seems they may be going the Instagram /social media - famous route to get there.
Wow- I got Reprimanded for the Formula X, too, plus some of the packages that supposedly shipped, never came, and some even came empty. Now, Sephora doesn’t want to ship directly to my home because of *their* errors. It totally broke my heart how rude and inconsiderate the CSR’s were on the phone, the supervisor being the worst of all. It didn’t make any sense for them to disallow me from packages being sent to my home. Recently, my purchases have dropped and practically disappeared, because it’s so inconvenient. I can Get packages at work, but i don’t really long to have my makeup obsession in full view of my coworker, lol. Plus, the UPS guy eats lunch at my office everyday, lol. I’m so sad that because of the poor customer service, and nuisance to drive to a store 20-25 minutes away, I didnt Hit Rouge this year... I love the Leodugts Sephora offers, but, wow, my jaw dropped at their lack of help. It felt like the supervisor just wanted to punish me. I’ve spent about $850 at Sephora this year. Instead of appreciating my money, they slapped me on the wrist. So disappointing. I feel Like I’ve been blacklisted. It kills me. 😟😢😞😥
Sephora is so disappointing in so many ways. They have such potential, and yet they squander it by running off good customers. My spending dropped dramatically too...I still managed to rerouge, but I did it with a bad taste in my mouth and really have no plans to do so next year unless they really step up their game (which I find doubtful).
Feedback I've submitted to them included something along the lines of "legitimate customers feel like they have to stop complaining because your errors are so frequent that the customer is worried they'll be seen as a scammer"...I've seen many complaints, yours included, of customers being punished for sephora's poor practices, and it's just sad that a giant retailer feels like it can run off whoever it wants.
Anyways, I hate bashing sephora on their own site (and I swear I try not to, but sometimes it's so hard for me to keep my mouth shut lol). I have had one good CS interaction, so there's that, but sadly I've had so many bad ones that Sephora is a very very very distant second (maybe even third or fourth) in my beauty life, outside of BIC.
Go Ulta! 😅
It hurts me to write negativity about Ulta, because it’s one of my favorite places to visit, and had been an absolute favorite to shop from. All I can Hope, is for this to be seen, and practiced be corrected. I’m also really wishing i could get packages at home. I mean, something was missing from a sealed package, and the rep’s solution was to stop shipping to me. She said she called the warehouse, and everything was fine. Ummm, nope. The eyeshadow was not in the Box. On top of it, I was Told I’d be refunded for this missing product, and never was.
Yes, Ulta has never, ever let me down with my online orders.💖😄 Go Ulta 👊 🤛!
Ulta didn't put samples in my last order even though I requested them. I have heard that they sometimes block people from ordering on line for no good reason.
I'm not totally aboard the 'Ultra love train' because I don't seem to experience the wonderful customer service that others receive (no free samples in store and I practically have to beg for my gwp's). If you have switched most of your shopping from Sephora to Ulta, you should be able to make the $1000 level in no time and will be able to judge if the new level is worth it.
If you call customer service @Tarabotti, they’ll do something for you for the missing samples. I imagine I’m at the $1000 level, but switching my shopping from Sephora often leads me to purchasing from brand sites directly or department stores, unless Ulta does carry whatever product it is that I’m ordering.
