Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.  

Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.

The product id is the number given to the item in the URL.  So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number.  If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta. 

It's not a search, but the direct url to the page. 

Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar.  It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204  Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.

My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:

(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward.  E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward.  Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase.  Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.

Hello everyone. I have 2 ultas near me. One by my house that I absolutely hate and another by work which is great. I know they dont offer samples like Sephora but if I ask will they give samples from behind the counter? Im just so tired of trying and returning because the color is off ect. Thanks all 🙂

If you ask, they'll make you samples from testers, the same way Sephora does.  That way you can check colors.  They won't give samples of the same products Sephora won't give samples of--things like lipgloss, mascara, and powder products.

Most likely not.  Ulta is strict. You need coupons to get those samples/GWP and why we share them here.

We usually sample at Sephora and shop at Ulta.  Ulta does have testers.  

I swatched a bunch of stuff yesterday.

You can also shop online as each week there is a Beauty Break and almost each month huge GWP bags.

Thats great to know. I used to be exclusive to Sephora until last week. Tired of having bad experiences there so decided to shop Ulta for now on 🙂 is there any tips or secrets to know for ulta? I see ladies posting about tote bags filled with samples ect. Is there a way of knowing when that is offered? Is there a site that girls trade unwanted samples? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks 🙂

Like Wheeeee said, sign up for their rewards program.  Be sure to check the box that says I would like to receive updates from Ulta ( or something like that).  You will then receive emails about new products, sales, special deals, etc.  Some of the offerings are for platinum level members only.  When you receive an email with a special or free offer, be sure you click the activate button because many of the offers must be activated in order to be used.

Ulta and Sephora have their pros and cons.  Both are overall great and why we shop online a lot.  More goodies and no SA hassles! ;')

Subscribe to this thread and  Deals.   This is how we spread the word on the street. 

Also, sign-up for  Ulta's reward program.  It is a cash back system. 

Then shop during offers whether point multipliers, sales or GWP to get the most bang for your buck.

I tried searching with both numbers and couldn't find the product, but here's a little ulta hack:

Click on any product.  Say it's a Smashbox lipstick.  If you look at the URL, all you have to do is swap the product id number out and you'll get the item you're looking for.

E.g. the url might say "Smashbox-some-lipstick-and-more-gibberish" and after that they'll list a product id number and and you just swap that id number out for the id number you want, and you'll end up with the right link. 

Sorry if this isn't the best example but I'm trying to give a good example that won't get edited out by the mods because they're not allowing even partial urls, even though the TOS only states urls and doesn't say anything about partial urls.

Is there a link for this or item#? I'm getting kinda antsy about picking up my new blow dryer and this beats nothing. Unless someone thinks something better is coming down the pike soon and I should wait 🙂

If you can, I would hold out until the end of the month when the 20% off coupons are sent out.  Also there is usually a multiplier event right before the coupons are sent.  Sometimes there are really nice GWPs as well to entice people to buy, buy, buy.

There's a 20% off coupon now, it just doesn't work on prestige cosmetics, but it does work on "prestige" hair care.  At least some of it.

I was in my Ulta store today and they had a sign up for special event in 2 weeks with makeup artist and preview of all the holiday sets (available to buy) there was one nice UD GWP and the SA told me there would be more..
