Hello BIC! Whether having a set of makeup products all picked out in advance makes it easier to get ready in the mornings or if you're looking for a fun way to use the new-to-you and tried-and-true products in your collection, welcome!! ๐ Please feel free to join in as a theme suits your style or piques your interests. We love seeing and being inspired by what beauties everyone is using. ๐
Here we are, last month of 2025, and we have a couple more capsules to squeeze in before the year is over. We've been doing weekly capsules but for this last month, we're going to switch to 2-week periods. That said, if you like the weekly format, there are options this month that you can choose to do, to keep up with a rotating weekly capsule.
โ๏ธWeeks 51 - 52 (December 15 - 31) - The "Holiday Glitz & Glam" Makeup Capsule and/or The "Best of 2025" Makeup Capsule
Put together a capsule consisting of one or more makeup product(s) that aligns with one or the other (or both) of the themes -
[NOTE: I will provide a sneak preview of a couple early 2026 makeup capsule themes during the week of December 22. ๐ฒ]
Why weekly?
Years ago, beauty & lifestyle blogger Serein Wu, did a weekly series (on her blog and YouTube channel), Makeup Bag Monday, where she rotated her makeup bag each week with new product launches and makeup already in her collection. If weekly works for you, great. If not, feel free to join in based on what works best for you.
When are the weekly themes posted?
I generally try to post the themes for the next month about two weeks before the start of that next month (so around the 15th of each month, give or take a few days), except that, for this month, weekly themes for weeks 2 thru 5 for January will be posted by or before end of the day on January 2. Weekly themes are updated at the end of the then current week (e.g., Sunday). This year, I will plan to update the weekly themes the Sunday before the start of the next week's theme, around 9pm Pacific / 10pm Mountain / 11pm Central / 12midnight Eastern Time.
What if I don't have enough products to fit the theme for a full face?
There's need for your entire makeup capsule to fit the weekly theme(s). Just one item will do. And, even if you don't have one that fits squarely within a theme, feel free to post your makeup capsule. We'd love to see what you're using and hear your feedback on the products as you put them to use - are they a favorite or a potential favorite? Are they just 'meh'? Or, is it time to declutter the item(s) from your stash?
Is there anything else I should include in my capsule?
It's all up to you what to include in your capsule. Some weeks, my capsule consists of completely different items than the week before. Other weeks, I've swapped out just a few items or have included additional items in one category of products - some of us refer to this as giving us options for the week.
You may see reference to "fits." That was creatively coined by our fabulous @danielledanielle and refers to the bag or component that will hold the week's makeup and, specifically, does all the makeup for the week's capsule fit into the bag / storage component. You ca also include the makeup brushes and tools you use for application, if you wish.
A sneak peek at the capsule themes for the first two weeks of 2026. I'll upload a new post in the next couple of days.
๐ January 1 - 11 - The "New Year, New-To-You" Makeup Capsule and/or The "Mentally Minded" Makeup Capsule
The "Best of 2025" Makeup Capsule
There are a lot of categories I can have for "best of" when it comes to makeup. Last year's "best of" list was based on products I used for the challenge and I cycled through a lot of the products in my collection that year, donating and re-homing most of the items that didn't work for me and tossing those that were expired or not in a condition that could be donated or passed along to someone else.
I took a different approach to my capsules this year - instead of cycling through as much of the products in my collection as I could, I elected to primarily work through what I already had open and enjoyed using. This was intended to help me use what I had and not contribute to the cycle I often found myself in, namely, having a lot of open but barely used products just sitting around. The problem for me personally with that is that I don't get around to the vast majority of those products until either they are very close to expiring or worse yet, they've already expired. ๐ So, for 2025, I focused mostly on using products already open, but incorporated new or new-to-me products from time-to-time to get in the habit of using what I purchase and not letting them sit too long before doing so.
As a result of changing up how I rotated through my makeup collection, my "best of" for 2025 was naturallly going to be more limited in scope than the previous year. That said, below is what earned a spot on my "best of" list for 2025 for makeup. I'll come back later to tag / highlight what I can and to comment briefly on those products that are new to the list (i.e., that were not a carry over from my 2024 best of list)
The last of us:
Week 51/52
โ
For the ๐ชฉ ๐ฅ, we go Dior
Week 50/49(?)
I do not remember the reasoning at the moment.
I did like it enough to stick with it for two weeks, technically three
Ahhhh, that Dior capsule @danielledanielle! ๐
@itsfi love this capsule! And I love that you made it your own with your personal version of a glitz & glam look. I completely get what you mean about not having the patience to do a full glam/full face look - I haven't lately, either. Maybe one of these days...
@caitbird, thank you. I've figured out shortcuts to the more challenging parts of a full face routine but I don't often put it all together. I rarely do a full eye and cheek look in the same look, but I might next week.
Week 50 Makeup Capsule
I initially thought I'd keep to the one capsule for two weeks, possibly adding one, maybe two products this week, as a shout out to the new pantone color of the year, but, other than white tips for a French mani or nail art, I don't typically incorporate white into my makeup or beauty looks. Also, while I wasn't predisposed to a particular color, I was hoping it would be a color, possibly a deeper or richer shade or brown, or a hue along the lines of the blue that Rare Beauty is using for its new fragrance - what is that, slate blue? French blue? It's lovely. Serene. Sophisticated. Elegant. But, I digress.
Anyhow, with the year coming to a close and another quickly to begin, it got me thinking, about a lot of things, but in terms of makeup capsules, it got me thinking about what stood out in this year; what I gravitated to more often, and why; as well as my process of picking and choosing every week between the new-to-me products I'm excited to try and tried-and-true items I know work for me. So I decided to use this week, where there's not really a theme set in stone, to work through that pick-and-choose process with the goal of working my way to/towards coming up with the beauties for my week 52 best of 2025 makeup capsule.
It'll come as no surprise to most who know me (or who have followed along with the makeup capsule challenge for any period of time) that neturals are my sweet spot, where I'm most at ease with my makeup look. Neutrals isn't necessarily entirely browns (though it often seems like it), as I do like some color on my lips (and fine, cheeks, too, lol), but whatever the shade, be it pink, mauve, rose or plummy, or even a brown based color or with a hint of red, it's more muted, softer, more natural ... neutral. ๐
So, against a white backdrop (a towel, an ode to my very first background for photos, way back when!), we have the following beauties from a bevy of fabulous brands:
Complexion:
Eyes:
Cheeks: This category is a work in progress in terms of 'best of' as I really just started delving into cheek products in more detail this year. Definitely some standouts that make the best of list but still too early to cement anything in place.
Lips: Way too many favorites but we'll see if we can start to identify my top 3, okay maybe 5 this year, for each category. Ack!!! The though alone stresses me out a little.
Tools: a mix of brushes from Wayne Goss
Fraagrance (not shown): KILIAN Paris Angels Share Eau de Parfum with Tonka Bean & Cinnamon 1.7 oz / 50 mL eau de parfum spra... and Jo Malone London Ginger Biscuit Cologne Travel Spray 0.34 oz./10ml cologne spray and World of Chris Collins Forbidden Apple Croque Moi Eau de Parfum Travel Spray 0.34 oz/10ml eau de par... and TOM FORD Vanille Fatale Eau de Parfum Fragrance with Coffee & Mahogany 1 oz / 30 mL perfume spray
The "Fits":
It does. The bag is white for Pantone color of the year with sparkly snowflakes in a nod to the festive season and to add some sparkle, life and personality to the bag.
@itsfi , I think you did a fabulous job. A best of is really hard to do in BIC ๐คฃ, but I think I've seen most of these in your capsules throughout the year.
It probably would have been easier to list "things that didn't make the best of" list @danielledanielle but then, I probably should have decluttered most of those things, maybe? ๐คฃ I did use this capsule a few days. I'll post an actual "Best Of" capsule this and next week - going to approach it differently than I did last year.
I love those Wayne Goss brushes, too, @itsfi! I have my original ones although I love my Sonia G eye brushes, too.
The WG and Sonia G brushes are lovely @curlychiquita!
Thank you @Samtian! It's probably the closest I get to snow most year. ๐ I can't remember where I picked this up - either during a small business Saturday shopping outing last year or amazon - two very different shopping experiences, lol. The Wayne Goss brushes are marvelous. I really need to do a better job of rotating through my makeup brushes - it comes in waves. I'm usually really good when I don't feel like washing my brushes, easier to reach for other ones. Hahahaha!
Weeks 49 & 50 - The "Out With the Old, In With the New" Makeup Capsule
I will likely modify this month's capsule schedule in a couple of days, making a new theme for Week 50 (next week), once Pantone announces its color of the year for 2026, which should take place sometime Thursday morning.
I'll reach for these beauties this (and possibly next) week - a mix of oldies but goodies, new-ish treats and a couple of mocha mousse items. Depending on what the Pantone Color of the Year is for 2026, I may swap out or add a few products next week to incorporate that color into the capsule, or, alternatively, curate a new capsule.
Through a series of glitches and user error (I kept forgetting to copy my comments before hitting "post" ๐ฃ) my notes are not posting and I've already spent a couple of hours trying to post twice and including tags/links (how I would occasionally do them for product releases in previous months) so if I feel up to it, I'll circle back with more detailed thoughts another day.
Nothing here is really on the "outs" here, though the LYS Beauty mascara will likely go sometime early next year because I'll either use up most of it or it'll be time to rotate it out of my collection (shelf life is usually 3-6 months after opening subject to changes in sight, smell, performance, etc.). Also, the Gucci liquid lipstick was something that I thought I had decluttered earlier this year so I'm surprised I found it in one of my makeup bags (I don't think it's another one I had ...). May see how it pairs with the new Gucci gloss I recently purchased (and still need to post to the hauls thread, doh!!!).
And, with a little Tetris magic, it all fits!
This capsule is kind of a love letter.
There's things I've been gifted.
The eyeshadow palettes are my first two PMG Motherships, PAT McGRATH LABS Mothership V Eyeshadow Palette - Bronze Seduction and PAT McGRATH LABS Mothership VII Eyeshadow Palette: Divine Rose

Lots of 'ooohs' and 'aaaahs' as I was going through your capsule @danielledanielle. ๐ We'll have some twinning moments. Love the mix of tried-and-true and newness in this capsule. Ahhhh, PML Bronze Seduction!!! Such a gorgeous palette! ๐ Oh my goodness, I just noticed the progress you've made on that Ami Colรฉ liner - excellent work. ๐๐ I'm hoarding a few of my AC items. I know I shouldn't, but just a little longer on a few of them.
Oh, what's the product in the tin with the lashes? Lashes, I'm assuming, maybe?
@itsfi I love twinning here. We're like little makeup tunning forks, picking up on each other's vibes.
I love Cafรฉ Touba... It's MAC mahogany but a little different. I thought about saving it, but this one is well loved, so I'm keeping it going. And there are ... Duplicates. (How many, at least two? I dunno) I wish they expanded the range, these work well dull, work well with a point. They aren't super creamy, but they do the job and usually between Touba and Midnight, I can get a nice ombre. Plus, midnight is an easy nose contour for me.
Yeah, that's a lash case. Hubbs broke my bigger one that I got from Sephora. This one, is cuter and you can attach a strip for magnetic lashes.
