Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

Hoping my Sisley shadow arrives soon also @ms123456 ! I think they are in high demand as many shades sold out! Let me know when you get yours please too :).

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@ms123456 thx for letting me know.  I will get Carnelian for sure.  I love my Tourmaline 😉 It's so fun!!! I love TF lipsparks as well.  Looks liked Neiman Marcus will have full line of lipsparks soon 😉

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@blackkitty2014 @Mochapj I doubt it's a dud - but I do think people will have different experiences with the TF glitters. Take the Shadow Extremes as an example - vastly different reviews, depending on the person. I will say that I think brush fibre and method does play a role. In a similar vein, does anyone else remember working with original TF specialists and how they'd mention they never tap off the brush during application? They'd build slowly, only work the product into their hand, if there was excess, and then go in, so as to avoid fallout/maintain luxury service composure. I've done similarly with my TF shadows, and maybe that's why I haven't received much fallout. To each their own, though - personally, I prefer the pressed powder formula to the prisma, so I know I'm the oddball here!

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@Nuwc1998  That’s one thing we can actually agree on; the Prismas have always been my least favourite of TF formulas, but I always end up buying them because the colour combos often speak to me more than the powder formula ones.

That said, in terms of TF glitters I am one of those people who enjoys the Extreme eyeshadow range. I own all 21 singles and with the exception of 1 or 2 duds that have no pigmentation at all, I’m really happy with them. 🤷🏽‍♀️

At the same time I’ve never understood the hype for Nude Dip so different strokes for different folks...

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@MochapjI actually agree with you on all of that! I love all the extreme singles (minus the green and lilac glitters...unless I feel so inclined to scrape them out and plaster them on lol); and I've never found Nude Dip that amazing. I'll forever prefer Enchanted and Suspicion over Nude Dip.

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@Nuwc1998   The Suspicion quad is also my favorite!

Re: Tom Ford Updates

So has anyone been able to try out Soleil D'Hiver?  I was ready to buy it sight unseen until Temptalia mentioned the highlight shade wasn't terribly pigmented.  I'd love to hear people's impressions of the texture, quality, and pigmentation of that quad.

RE: Re: Tom Ford Updates

Your skin tone will be the biggest marker. Shades 3 and 4 (the rose gold and deep brown) are exactly what you’d expect from the formula. Shade 2 (the peach) is interesting - it runs almost pastel in compared to the opacity of the other colors. As for Shade 1 (the highlight), I haven’t had much issue with color payoff or fallout. Tbh, I haven’t had fallout issues with really any TF quad, but it comes down to how one uses them. If you’re packing or sliding, even dry, you won’t get any. If you’re applying with a fluffy/natural/blending brush, you might. That said, Shade 1 does have micronized glitter closest to the green in Emerald Lust...it’s not as drastic as the bottom shades in Soleil Neige IMO. Because of that, this isn’t exactly as smooth as Nude Dip, which is truly just metallic sheens for the first three shades (with a slightly more matte fourth). Arguably, it looks less plain as a result - and, Nude Dip 1-3 tend to run together on anyone who isn’t fair...Soleil d’Hiver a little less so.

RE: Re: Tom Ford Updates

@Nuwc1998 we’ll have to agree to disagree on that point. I never apply glittery shades with a brush. I either use my fingertips or a silicone paddle applicator to press/pat them on. As you said, the micronized glitter is very similar to that one shade in Emerald Lust (which is also a shade I have this issue with, along with the bottom 2 in Neige) and all 4 of these micro glitter shades tend to separate on my skin and leave particles of glitter everywhere. They’re beautiful but too messy 🤷🏽‍♀️ I also have hooded eyelids though which I’m sure contributes to the continued fallout throughout the day, but not the amount I get during initial application.

RE: Re: Tom Ford Updates

@Anonymous I have Soleil d’Hiver and have tried it a few times. If you mean the top left shade, yes I would agree. It has mild pigmentation but also suffers from the super chunky glitter fallout that the bottom 2 shades of Soleil Neige have which is quite annoying. Using it wet makes it a tiny bit brighter but still doesn’t do much for the separation of the glitter from the base. Otherwise the other 3 shades wear beautifully but as it was mentioned below, this is basically the metallic equivalent of Golden Mink (replacing the glitter shades with satin metallic ones) it isn’t very exciting to me. I found that on my skintone (fairer skin may have better luck) the 3 looks I tried all ended up looking mostly the same, regardless of using a different shade as a feature each time.

Re: RE: Re: Tom Ford Updates

@Mochapj oh man, that's a shame 🙁  I was hoping for another workhorse palette like Nude Dip but super chunky glitter fallout is kind of a deal breaker.  Thanks so much for the information, that's very helpful!  Heart 🙂

RE: Tom Ford Updates

There will also be an extreme Bada$ lid lacquers coming out with that quad

RE: Tom Ford Updates

The quad

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

This looks interesting but I’m so hesitant after that Soleil Smoky quad debacle that just bummed me out with so much glitter fallout and little color payoff. I was so excited. Nope. You felt same correct @Mochapj ? This swatches so strongly but I have no trust now lol. And it isn’t a cohesive color story for sure. Kind of random. Waa wah sorry! Lol Glad if others like it tho! 🙂

RE: Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@Sunnysmom yeah, I’m debating returning it. As to the glow sticks, I love the original (Sunstruck) and really enjoy one of the two new ones I bought (Megeve) The other one (Courchevel) looks sort of plain by comparison. Again, perhaps because it’s meant to be the deeper skintone option but I found the blush side to look kind of flat; something about it feels like the berry tone has too much brown in it (instead of red or purple) that it ends up looking bruisey to me. I might exchange it for the Soleil Neige one... am undecided. I really like the highlight side of Courchevel, just not the blush 🤷🏽‍♀️

Re: RE: Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

Interesting good info thanks @Mochapj .  I’ve been so happy with my Ilia and Gucci Westman blush and highlighters  that I haven’t felt need to try others but I’m always so curious. 😊Tho I know they probably don’t have the deep tones you need and like. Have you tried any of them? Bronzer good too.

Re: RE: Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@Sunnysmom I haven’t tried Gucci Westman but I’ve heard nothing but good things. I wasn’t crazy about Ilia but for ‘natural’ brands I’ve really loved the cream cheek products I picked up from Kjaer Weis.

Re: RE: Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

Yes I hear you @Mochapj . I do like one blush and highlighter from Ilia , A Fine Romance and even a Color Haze and Liquid Light but it’s def hit or miss. KW are great, I forgot about them! Such luxe packaging also. Try GW I bet you’ll really enjoy them! Good skin loving ingredients in all. I have a foundation stick, bronzer, highlighter, and a few blushes. Wish some lips. Mascara also out now I see but haven’t tried. So many things on my list! Never ends!! 🙄😖

RE: Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@Sunnysmom yeah, that was my experience with Soleil Neige, too. I had glitter in my eyebrows, on my nose, on my lipline, cheeks, etc every time I used that quad. I tried it wet, I tried it with glitter glue, I used it with my fingers not a brush... didn’t make a whit of difference. It’s a shame because it’s a beautiful colour combo but I will probably never wear it because of how much mess it makes.

Re: RE: Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

Ugh yes @Mochapj .  Truly a shame. Return it can’t you? 😞 Just not a good product. Feels like false advertising almost!! Lol . It looked so pretty in swatches too , agree @blackkitty2014 .( I didn’t even try the duo sticks. Do you guys like them?)

Re: RE: Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@Mochapj @Sunnysmom Thx you for  posting about glittering mess. I bought all 3 quads but was busying with work so I haven’t had time to play much. I wore the Et Lune quad yesterday. Not sure how I feel about it yet. And seems liked that is a best performing one, I probably return the other 2. I’m simply running out of space and don’t want to buy anything so they can sit there and collect dusts 😂🤣 I like the duo glow stick #3 though. Will try out #4 today. Ugh! What a disappointment! The quads look so pretty on their pans.
