Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@TraceyEB  I was thinking about the CT ones last night too, and hoping that if the TF ones do get discontinued she’ll keep making hers and come out with new shades from time to time.  I knew they were close but didn’t realize how close so thank you for the analysis.

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@Winthrop44I also enjoy CT cream eyeshadows  I updated my earlier post as I found that CT had some shades that were very close to TF's earlier formulation and others where mica was more prominent in the ingredients list, which different from TF's formulation. The ingredients listed for TF's current cream shadows are considerably different than his previous formula and CT's as well.

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@TraceyEB  Thanks for the clarification/update.  My skin has problems with cyclopentasiloxane so I won’t mind if they get reformulated again if they do ever come out with more!

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@Winthrop44, it looks like they're moving in that direction. Let's hope there are formulations that won't cause reactions and are comfortable and beautiful on the eyes.

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@TraceyEB  luckily I don’t notice cyclops bothering my eyes, just my darn rosacea cheeks, but yes, it would make me happier to avoid it completely. Anyway, when this paint pot  issue first came up a couple days ago I emailed TF thru their web site and asked if the current cream shadows were being discontinued and the answer was they may not be replenished as they are sold thru....which I take as a yes. I guess whether we’ll ever see a replacement for ones of this texture, or if the new paint pot variety will be it, no one really knows at this point, but my guess would be the paint pots will be it unless they sell very poorly. What do you think?

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@Winthrop44, it's certainly looking that way. Thanks for sharing that TF intel! There seem to be the same 5 shades listed on a number of retailer websites, including Tom Ford's. I think Mochapj listed the shades that had been removed. All very consistent with your exchange with TF.

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

@ShortErica this is fascinating!

Re: RE: Tom Ford Updates

That is interesting @eshoe. Now if we see similar products the first thing I'll think is see if they have the same parent company and then match ingredients. I'm sure there are plenty that have close if not exact matches. Though it stinks we need to hunt for dupes when products get discontinued.

Re: Tom Ford Updates

Are the tom ford bronzers really worth the money ?

I currently use the bobbi brown bronzer and think it is nice but a little too pigmented for my fair skin.

RE: Re: Tom Ford Updates

I love terra and gold dust but I’m more of the light medium to medium color spectrum so I’m not sure if you would love it. Honestly my most used bronzer is the Marc Jacobs’s coconut bronzer. You can go in heavy headed but it blends like a dream.

Re: Tom Ford Updates

@m3rc3d3s  The CCOs have stock of TF bronzers, so if you find a shade that suits you in the current formula, the CCOs would be a less expensive way to try them out. I heard the bronzers being released are a new formula.

Re: Tom Ford Updates

@TraceyEB  you're right, the Soleil Bronzers are a different formula, and Temptalia's review of Terra states it's a different color. I guess that makes my recommendation useless lol.

Re: Tom Ford Updates

@suzyoOn the contrary, your suggestion might just help someone in the community find the right bronzer in the TF's bronzer range. Still very useful information. 🙂

Re: Tom Ford Updates

Your recommendation is not useless @suzyo . Both formulas are still in stock at various retailers. I think eventually they will bring the Ultimate Bronzer version to COO. I have that one too. I enjoy it. I might hoard the new formula in different shade in Nov/Dec

Re: Tom Ford Updates

@m3rc3d3s I have the Ultimate Bronzer in Terra, and I love it. I have dry skin and most bronzers look so patchy on me, but the Tom Ford is so smooth. Mine doesn't have a scent though. It looks like they just changed the name to Soleil Glow, but the ones available now look like the same formula that I have. There was a $70 version that was a different formula, but had the same color names (lots of reviews noted a difference in color despite the names being the same).

Re: Tom Ford Updates

@m3rc3d3s I love the Tom Ford bronzer in Terra. If you are looking for a matte bronzer this is perfect for you. It does have a scent to it. I saw Patrick Ta use it and had to add it to my collection.  It looks great on my light skin tone.

Re: Tom Ford Updates

I swatched some of the Emotionproof shades in store today. They are pretty heavy duty; I ran my hand under a faucet and tried to rub them off and they wouldn’t budge. Even trying to take them off with micellar water I had to scrub really hard.

I've seen the chatter online that these are basically MAC paint pots; I've never tried paint pots so I don't know, but visually the mattes ones did appear similar to them - so if you wanted any of the mattes, you might want to check MAC for a duplicate shade first. These have a thick, heavy feel but once it set down, I couldn't rub them off. They're not moussey like the existing cream shadows; these are more like Armani Eye & Brow Maestro or Givenchy Ombre Couture.

In terms of shades that the shimmery ones might duplicate, Brut Rose is quite similar to Young Adonis, but with a pinkish tinge. Casino is very, very similar to an old discontinued shade called Illicit. Starmaker is pretty close to Sphinx, but without the peachy shift. I didn't find anything similar to Giggolo or Minimalist within the TF range.

Re: Tom Ford Updates

@Mochapj  OMG thank you so much for your detailed swatches and comparisons! Reformulation or not, I really like these metallic ones! Hope they work well on lids. The regular TF pots are working fine for me.

Re: Tom Ford Updates

The shimmery ones look nice. I've always regretted missing Illicit. I wonder if this means the end of the other formula?

Re: Tom Ford Updates

@Winthrop44 My SA mentioned something to that effect when I spoke to her about upcoming launches last week.

ive noticed the more colourful shades (Sphinx, Siren Blue, Midnight Violet) no longer exist on the TF website.

it would be a shame if they do, I don’t think this new formula will be as forgiving for textured eyelids.
