New Year,  New Thread, cheers to Year 10 of the  of the No/Low Buy Thread 🥂🥂

This thread was initially created by the amazing @lnum and this is how she described the purpose of this challenge: 

This thread is a support system for all of us who are trying to maintain a budget and keep our beauty spending limited. Post here when you have a weak moment, post here to hold yourself accountable, post here when you just need someone to talk to, post here when you have advice for all of us, and post here when you make mistakes but also make gains! Many of us post here to keep track of our monthly purchases. Anything you need to say, we are all here for each other. There's no judgement here.

Feel free to share your goals, items that tempt you, missteps (we don't believe in failures), and any successes.  Above all else, encourage and support one another.

Welcome to Year 3!

My motto for this thread is that I strongly believe, even on a budget, you can have the things you want that make you happy without feeling like you're limiting yourself.

I am so excited to spend another year with you all. If it wasn't for the first two years of this thread, I would never have been able to cut down my beauty spending. My goal for this year is to maintain low spending on beauty, and cut down my clothing purchases. I will be funneling that money into traveling, which is what I have done in the past and it's a great goal that truly motivates me. 

I'm still so proud of everyone for making it through 2015 and 2016, limiting ourselves in the beauty product area in order to improve our lives in other areas. We all did great and here's to another year of learning and saving!

@peculiarzmakeup  these are great strategies and tips, thank you for the inspiration! I really want to be more mindful with my shopping and spending, but I have such a hard time with it 😅 I think making a list of everything I have, and how much/how many I have in each category, would really be helpful! I just have to remember to do it and take the time, I have so much stuff that it is going to be a big project, so I have been putting it off 😫

I do find participating in Capsule Makeup Collection Challenge  when I'm able to is definitely helpful in getting me to shop my stash and use different things I have that I might not normally reach for otherwise. And I am on my second year of doing the Pan It! - 2024 Challenge  which I find so helpful for encouraging me to use and finish different things! But even so, budgeting and low buys are definitely a big work in progress for me 😅

I definatley have a difficult time with it too! I really have to assess how much I use something and yes those threads are amazing too because they take into account and the prompts just get the mind going about how to look at shopping and stacking up and declutter in a different way I love hearing everyone’s perspective and I also get inspiration from seeing your ideas too!

It’s so super difficult a couple things get me offers, points multipliers and hearing about new products  and being inspired by everyone on here that’s more then a couple but right?! I always try to keep this thread in mind, I’m right there with you 💕💕🫶 @lmaster

I absolutely love and appreciate this thread! It’s so great too see others ideas and mentions of what is beneficial.  

When I buy especially if a product is gonna be a rebuy I usually buy two without realizing there is a longer time span for the first one to run out. 

I am now waiting until there is 25% left of the product before restocking. 

another strategy I’ve been finding helpful is giving myself time to explore each product and recognize its usefulness in my routine. 

These have been useful for being mindful about what I need to add, what can wait, and helps give more time to plan 🫶💕
