Skincare Routine of the Day

This is a place to share your skincare routine of the day!  Whether it be daytime routine or nighttime routine, I know you have one.  From simple to complex, expensive to inexpensive products: show and tell! If you are anything like me, your skincare routine changes daily. Skincare isn't as showy as makeup, but it is the quiet work horse of our daily lives. 20200118_005115.jpg

You might want to include with your post: your skin type, skin concerns (& the weather where you are).

Sometimes if all you can do is your skincare, that is enough.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Won’t post my AM pics for some reason, will have to try again another day! GRRR!

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Grrr!!! That’s so frustrating. Sorry you’re experiencing this @sister13

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

I've been meaning to come back to this thread for a while now, and finally remembered to grab a pic last night!

Skin: oily, sometimes dehydrated but also congestion-prone. 90+ and humid as heck lately. I tend to forget about a morning routine unless I'm going out (and I rarely go out, especially now), so allllll of my actives get smooshed into my night routine.

IMG_20200709_012900309.jpg

1. DHC Cleansing Powder

2. Omorovicza Ultramoor Mud Mask

3. CosRX AHA/BHA toner

4. Kitao Matcha & Chia Essence

5. Paula's Choice Resist 2% BHA (unmarked bottle)

6. Awake Beauty Glow Pill Serum (niacinamide)

7. Kate Somerville Retinol

8. Exuviance Vitamin C (half capsule) + Valjean Ferulic&E

9. Kate Somerville Retinol Eye Cream

10. Clinique Drama Gel + (oops, forgot to include in the pic) Clarins Lotus Oil

And the Sephora BHA peel pads (gratis), just on my chest.

Overall, I think my skin is in the best shape it's been in a while. Niacinamide was missing from my routine for a while (the ELF Hydrating Essence is oos every time I want to buy it, grrr), but picking up the Awake Beauty serum made a huge difference in my congestion recently. ❤️ I also rotate through 4% and 9% BHA occasionally, and that helps as well.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

The Kate Somerville retinol is amazing!! Great routine, @RGbrown!!

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Oh. So the Awake serum is a love @RGbrown??!!! 😍 I have been very curious about the brand and have a couple of their products, including the Glow Pill Serum, on my list for a while. Just going to mark it now with an “*RGBrown” approved. 🛍

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@itsfi

It's really nice!

For me, more than anything, I'm just excited about the niacinamide itself, but the formula is good too...it's a thin serum that soaks in well, doesn't pill, and isn't sticky. Price wise, I'm just as happy with something cheaper, like the ELF essence, but this has been lovely!

Ulta has the Awake travel sizes 3/$30 right now (oh, just looked it up, it runs through the end of Jan 2021, so there's plenty of time). Three travel Glow Pills is cheaper than a full size bottle, and offers more product, so that's how I snagged it up. I'm glad it turns out I like it! 😛

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@RGbrown For some reason I can't stop thinking about that Awake Glow Pill.  Does it make your skin feel supple?  Do you think I can use it as an essence?

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@greeneyedgirl107

Consistency wise, sure, it's thin for a serum, perhaps just a tad thicker than some of the thicker essences I've tried. It would work anywhere early on in the layering process 😊

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@RGbrown Thanks for the input!  Looking forward to trying it in the not too distant future 🙂

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Oh wow @RGbrown, that is a good deal! 😍 My skincare routine is a mix of price points but I love deals and steals! 😉 This one sounds fantastic! Love that it absorbs easily and doesn’t pill. 💗

Skincare Routine of the Day

My simple morning routine for combo/oily/aging skin in 90+F weather! It's taken some doing to figure out what to do with my face on very hot days without using any mattifying products because I'm too old for them. I've found that the key is multiple layers of light hydration. Hylamide is another brand from Deciem, the parent company of The Ordinary, and you can read my review of these products in my post history. Tl:dr, SubQ Skin is anti-aging magic, while the Mist feels like overpriced water, but I'm giving it a full trial and a mist feels nice in summer anyway. Before I got the Hylamide products, I would go cleanser>Ceramidin>The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid B5 Serum>etc. On less hot days, I would put YTTP Superberry Hydrate and Glow Oil before the Camo Drops, but not on crazy hot humid days, I don't have time to wait for it to sink in. The Camo Drops are fantastic for summer, giving me color correction and SPF with a very light watery product. I will wear foundation over it for fancy days, but it's perfectly adequate for running errands. With mascara and lip balm, I look "done" if I want to. Another great thing about the Camo Drops is that if you get into a situation where you're going to sweat your face off, Camo Drops do NOT sweat as rivers of melting color like foundation does. It just looks like sweat. Sometimes you're just going to sweat, and it's good to know you don't have to be embarrassed by your makeup if it happens. I don't have a vitamin c serum I'm in love with right now, so I'm getting my antioxidants elsewhere.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Oh, I quite like the ceramidin liquid too, @tg1973!!

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Simple, easy routines are great for when the weather heats up @tg1973

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Ooo now I've got to put those camo drops to the sweat test @tg1973. Though I know why my sample has been put aside (2021 expiration and I have lots of other products to use). How long have they been in your routine?

I think for a couple of months, though not every day. I h...

I think for a couple of months, though not every day. I haven't been as consistent as I should have been with my sun protection! I started with a sample of the Color Correcting Treatment, which is great for colder weather, and jumped in with the full size of the drops for summer, which I don't regret!

Skincare Routine of the Day

I won't list my whole regular routine right now, but I had to share how happy I am that I can finally use products after scratching my skin in my sleep a couple of weeks ago! I was going through tons of stress and sleeping very little, and I scratched the skin under my eye with my fingernail so badly that the pain woke me up!! I didn't even realize how bad it was for a couple of days but it broke the skin and will possibly leave a permanent scar. After eight years of deep study and practice of skincare, I may well have carved a permanent wrinkle into my left undereye area. 😞. My routine has consisted of very occasional use of CeraVe hydrating cleanser and constant use of Neosporin. My morning routine had evolved to include Dr. Jart Camo Drops for sun protection when going out, but last night with the wound finally fully closed, I got to use my Curology prescription again (tret+clindamycin+azelaic acid), and I am so freaking happy to wake up to smooth skin again!! Dead skin was building up so much!! Hopefully I can now resume my usual schedule!!

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Oh no, @tg1973!! I'm sorry that happened. Glad to hear you're on the mend.

AM ⏰AM

I did not do well this past week, especially at night. I kept staying up late to finish work and just didnt want to spend the time to mask or do any skincare. So between that a bit of mask irritation my skin is looking rough. I did use a sheet mask on Sunday and Honey potion on Tuesday I think. But gotta get back to a routine this week.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@haleyvvvv  How are you liking the Glow Recipe pineapple serum?

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

I really like it, @faeriegirl!! Right now its my second favorite or tied for first with the DE one. I like it a lot more than the Sunday Riley one. I do have quite a few more to test though. It definitely works. Doesn't entirely have a burnt popcorn scent. I like the consistency, it spreads nicely. I think there are minis available in some of their kits?

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

It happens @haleyvvvv. Just keep chipping away at getting back to your routine. 😃
