Skincare Routine of the Day

This is a place to share your skincare routine of the day!  Whether it be daytime routine or nighttime routine, I know you have one.  From simple to complex, expensive to inexpensive products: show and tell! If you are anything like me, your skincare routine changes daily. Skincare isn't as showy as makeup, but it is the quiet work horse of our daily lives. 20200118_005115.jpg

You might want to include with your post: your skin type, skin concerns (& the weather where you are).

Sometimes if all you can do is your skincare, that is enough.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Great line up, @sister13!! That GWP sounds amazing. I really liked this formulation of the Dr. Jart micelle water, and it sounds like the newer one isn't as good.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Oh,I didn’t realize they changed it! I may actually have a backup of this one, plus a target micellar  water I really Like too! @haleyvvvv

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

So many lovely skincare beauties here @haleyvvvv! 🙂 How's that Sephora micellar water? Would you repurchase? My heart has belonged to Bioderma micellar water for ages but I am very intrigued by the inclusion of zinc in the Sephora formula.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Thank you, @itsfi!! I like the micelle water, I think the Zn is clarifying, which is nice. But I use micelle water a little differently than a lot of people, I think. I sometimes use it to add a layer of moisture, so I like to keep one that's not too lipidly and requires a wash off. So I think this a good one for that, but right now I prefer, PHILOSOPHY - Purity Made Simple Micellar Cleansing Water. I do want to try the new Drunk Elephant E-Rase™ Milki Micellar Water 8 oz/ 240 mL and I have the Bioderma to try. As for makeup removal, its not the best, but I don't think micelle water does a great job of that to begin with because so many of them lack enough lipids.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@haleyvvvv, I hadn’t thought of using micellar water to add another layer of moisture. As I think about it, I’ve used essences or sometimes another serum for that.

Bioderma is my HG micellar water; I use it as a pre-cleanse - primarily to remove my eye makeup and to break up sunblock and makeup in the areas where I am more sensitive, like my neck and jawline. Then I start my first cleanse.  Even though I love Bioderma, I am interested in the DE as it contains ceramides. I am not expecting it to top the Bioderma but there’s one way to find out... 😉

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@itsfi I guess I misspoke a little there. I use it a layer of hydration after my other cleansing, especially if I feel if I need a little more cleansing. Then I go in with toner and the rest of my routine, but I feel like my toner goes on best on damp skin. But I find that most micelle waters just don't remove makeup well. I am excited to try the Bioderma!

@haleyvvvv this is all I can think looking at your routine detailsgiphy (7).gif

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Yessss, love a good Wayne's World reference, @sprocketta!! But I just have a large backlog of items I want to try out (plus its the whole week at once, so it looks more than it is per day).

RE: Skincare Routine of the Day

My nighttime routine consists of the cerave foaming facial cleanser which I’ve just started using but I already really like. Then I use two serums by the ordinary, niacinamide 10%+zinc 1% and 100% plant derived squalene, which both work really well together. The niacinamide is great for making it seem as though the size of my pores has been reduced. The squalene is amazing for the skins hydration and can also be used in your hair. Finally I use the cerave moisturizing lotion which has also been really good for moisturizing.

Re: RE: Skincare Routine of the Day

@kat1kat, love that you mentioned using the squalane oil for your hair. I'm making a mental note as I definitely want to give that a try! 🙂

Re: RE: Skincare Routine of the Day

Nice routine, @kat1kat!! I have the Ordinary Niacinamide serum in my stash to try, glad to hear it's giving you great results.

It is definitely going to be a scented summer. I noticed sunscreen is missing which unfortunately is kind of accurate. My daily use is subpar but I've been using more heavy stuff when I spent so much time outside moving so at least there's that.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Great line up, @ShortErica!! I have to check put that snail essence. 🐌

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Thanks @haleyvvvv! I think it has worked well and I don't mind snail 🐌

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Last night's routine, it's very, very hot (although I'm inside all day) and my skin is normal.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

I gotta take a picture of mine @eshoe - using the snail, SEPHORA COLLECTION - Brightening Eye Cream – Hydrate & Depuff and GLOW RECIPE - Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream too! Looks like your skin is getting lots of love. Is that watermelon mist empty?

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

How are you liking the CosRx, @ShortErica? I try to use mine every other day at a minimum. Alternating with a Bakuchiol (on my two week trials, now). So yep, my skin is very happy:)

The Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist 2.53 oz/ 75 mL is about empty, sadly. So very sadly!

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@eshoe I hardly ever join the best products of the month thread but I think I might do it to give a shout out to the snail mucin. It was a slow start for me. I used it in place of when I typically do an HA serum. I didn't get maybe those immediate plumping benefits and wasn't wowed. I've been using it anytime I do skincare without a sheet mask (usually I have those count as my essence/serum step) and I feel it has improved my lines. I'm curious to see if using both it and an HA will be a good thing or overboard. I always used HA on a damp face so I did the same with this. I won't deny that the product itself is stringy but when I apply on a damp face and then move in circular motions, I don't get a stringy feeling when I apply. Not that I think that would stop me since I'm not grossed out by snail. But just a tip!

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Thank you for the suggestion, @ShortErica! When first applying it is when I feel a little uneasy. A couple of pumps into the palm of my hand, and dabbing a finger into it is when I Monticello the stringy-ness. It makes me slow down, because if I move too quickly toward my face, it might accidentally go across my lips on the way to my cheek...which is what grossed me out 😆 But if I take my time, the stringy stuff pulls back and doesn’t bother me.

I’ve been using my Herbivore Bakuchiol again, and it has the exact same viscosity. Makes me think mucin is a secret ingredient, ha!

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@eshoe I do one pump at a time placing on each cheek, forehead and neck then rubbing. That's interesting about the bakuchiol. I haven't been using retinol since I've slacked on SPF and want to try again. Not sure it I'd did enhance some of my areas that get redness or not and want to test again.
