Let's keep this thread on topic!
Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):
Item #1 - $53.50
Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)
* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x
Total Spent - $162
Base Points Earned - 162
Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)
5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)
5x Item/Brand Earned - 434
Total Points Earned - 1285
Links are not allowed. In lieu of links, please read this:
Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.
Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.
The product id is the number given to the item in the URL. So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number. If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.
It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.
Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar. It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204 Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.
My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:
(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward. E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward. Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase. Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.
Multiplier | 1 | 1.25 | 1.5 | 2 | 2.25 | 2.5 | 3 | 3.25 | 3.5 | 4 | 4.25 | 4.5 | 5 | 7.25 | 7.5 | 8 | 8.25 | 8.5 | 9 | 9.25 | 9.5 | 10 | 10.25 | 10.5 |

Sunday means Member Appreciation
And we've got a new Fragrance Crush
New gwp as well; select hair care includes over 3300 items, 2601374
(On a gwp-related note, the 5pc mystery gift with $25 purchase is STILL available...that's 25 days now 😮 )
I just added a few gift sets to my cart and it isn't reflecting the 5x points. I wonder if it will reflect at a certain time since I'm on the east coast.
New multipliers don't show in the cart until 2am Central (I dunno why, that's just the weird way it is); your items should start showing points in another hour or so (assuming Ulta programed them correctly, which is always questionable, sadly).
Hi beauties, quick q: Do the Nest candles ever go on sale at Ulta? - I figured this group would know best 🙂
I just discovered the Nest pumpkin candle through a GWP and am kinda obsessed now. The price though! 😩
@EsinaJ I believe Nest candles were just on GMA deals at 50% off 2 days ago, weren’t they? Sorry you missed them. As for Nest specific sale at Ulta, I don’t recall one… I imagine that a regular 20% off prestige coupon would work on them though, those should start popping up closer to the holidays. Alternately, you can always stock up points to get them, then the price won’t hurt quite as much. Ideally, both: 20% off coupon + paying with points.
Did I just miss the sale? 😭
Arg. I'll keep trying the coupons. Thanks @civ2ru @! I've found the non-Ulta candles often get excluded as fragrance, but it can't hurt to try.
I think the robe/throw GWP for fragrance is coming up soon too, so maybe I'll hold off till then. 😉
@EsinaJ Most prestige coupons include fragrance, unless specifically stated otherwise. Certainly those sent out around holidays include them, as people use them to stock up on perfume and get those robes/throws you speak of! 😊 I know I got one last year.
Perhaps start watching for point multipliers too, to rack up enough for your next 2,000-point haul full of Nest candles? 😁
The Dash to Beauty code has been released, 969342 for half off the ColourPop Malibu Barbie box set through tomorrow
Already that time, eh? Early Black Friday Deals are starting! Every Thursday through Saturday, there will be a new set of offers. This week has over 500 items on sale (ETA: 335 on the full site, 185 app exclusive)
And we've got some app exclusive items as well
@RGbrown SO, Ms Icon, looks like they launched that 30% off Hempz way ahead of their annual full size Hempz GWP – which, if my calculations are correct, should fall on next Wednesday 11/2. Last year both promos coincided. In your opinion, which is a better time to stock up on Hempz?
That's a tough call 🤔 A bird in the hand and all that jazz, so if you need lotion (err, well, or whatever Hempz products you have in mind), I'd probably go with the sale instead of holding out for a gwp that may or may not show later. I know it's tradition, but so is the Dyson coupon, and Ulta destroyed that one, so who knows how this will go.... Of course, Hempz will go on sale again too, so if you don't need it right this second, holding out to see if the gwp happens to show and also lines up with another nice deal (whether on Hempz or something else you want/need, since it's a sitewide gift) isn't a bad idea.
Math? Let's math it out, that's always helpful to me 😁
I'm going to keep it really simple, and for this exercise, I'm buying only lotion, regular $25, sale $17.50. There are of course a million ways to skin that cat and meet those thresholds, but we'll go for KISS 😋
Last year, we had a $65 gwp with two fs lotions and a hand wash, and a step up at $80 with another fs lotion and a lip balm.
Assuming you really want to stock up on Hempz, but it isn't on sale if/when the gwp drops, and you want both gwp sets, you buy 4 lotions at $25 for $100 total. Ignoring the other items, you wind up with 7 full size lotions for a net cost of $14.29 per bottle, which is better than the current sale.
Of course, there are some caveats here...what if this year's gwp has scents you don't like or is dominated by products you won't use? What if it doesn't have 3 full size products again? What if it never materializes? The current sale isn't a terrible price to ensure you get stuff you actually want without gambling.
I guess the biggest question for anyone is "do you need the product now, or is playing the waiting game a necessary part of the rush for you?"
YMMV of course, but check TJM/Marshalls too...my store had a ton of Hempz lotions last week for $12.99, lots of scents, including some of the more expensive CBD ones. Looks like Target has a couple of lotions on sale for $13.xx right now too, if lotion is what you're after and those scents are acceptable to you.
Personally, if I was in need of something right this second, I'd probably grab just one on sale (or even from TJM or Target...price rules for me when there aren't any other factors like a gwp or a multiplier at play) to tide me over for a bit, and then wait and see what happens with the gwp before doing a big stock up. Push come to shove, I know Hempz will go on sale again in the future, and I can wait to see if the next one lines up with a deal I find interesting enough to take advantage of.
Well, that turned into a novel. Not sure I'm sorry about it though 😂
@RGbrown I like novels! Thank you for your 3 cents. One more thing I might add to the mix is most Hempz lotions are priced $19.99 at Hempz site with a 20% off promotion currently running (code EARLYBF). But is that enough to stray from Ulta? 🤣
Hahahahaha, I have thoughts here too 😂
I'd rank that roughly equivalent with Ulta's current sale price...once you factor in the super hot basic offering of 17 points (or a few more for Plat/Dia members), that's another dollar+ back, putting Ulta around $16-$16.50 net. Free ship at $35 both places, so really, it's just a question of if you'd rather buy a few more points (or want spending for status) at Ulta, or perhaps Hempz direct has some other scents that Ulta doesn't!
(And dangit, I went to Hempz direct to check shipping, and now I see a couple of lotions on clearance for $10. The 20% code doesn't work on them (ETA: works on one, not the other), but they look like good scents and dangit civ, I have no need for lotion, but all this talk of buying lotion makes me want to buy more lotion 👿 🤣🤣
@RGbrown You had me at Plat/Dia! 😂 Has a nice ring to it. I think I might make that into a bumper sticker. Oh and there’s also free Dia shipping no minimum to factor in.
As for your sudden lotion craving, sleep on it! I bet, come midnight, Ulta will greet you with a shiny new GWP or 10% cashback or something. ⭐️ And then you’ll tell the rest of us.
Well, I was looking at some scents at Hempz direct that Ulta doesn't have...
...then I saw Nest on GMA deals and bought some candles instead, so Hempz is out for now 😂
Darn, I wish I'd known about that Nest deal!
I posted it on the Deals Too Good to Pass Up thread yesterday @iwantitfree. It was for candles and diffusers no bottled fragrance.
