Let's keep this thread on topic!
Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):
Item #1 - $53.50
Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)
* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x
Total Spent - $162
Base Points Earned - 162
Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)
5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)
5x Item/Brand Earned - 434
Total Points Earned - 1285
Links are not allowed. In lieu of links, please read this:
Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.
Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.
The product id is the number given to the item in the URL. So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number. If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.
It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.
Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar. It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204 Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.
My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:
(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward. E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward. Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase. Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.
| Multiplier | 1 | 1.25 | 1.5 | 2 | 2.25 | 2.5 | 3 | 3.25 | 3.5 | 4 | 4.25 | 4.5 | 5 | 7.25 | 7.5 | 8 | 8.25 | 8.5 | 9 | 9.25 | 9.5 | 10 | 10.25 | 10.5 |

I'd love a diamond code if someone isn't using theirs, I'll use all I can get, lol. Please pm meโฅ
@silliluci I PM'd you ๐
Wanted to throw a couple of notes/thoughts out there:
The $25 Diamond gift isn't working, but I kinda assume it'll need a code from the email later. BUT, the pictures and the description don't match up at all, so I guess treat it as a mystery gift lol. (ETA: yep, code is in the email. The picture in the email has the same items as the picture on the website, so maybe that's right. Maybe not ๐ )
The nail polish gift is *really freaking nice* IMHO, BUT (why does everything need a but, Ulta?), I have found over the years that polish colors in gwps are rarely what's advertised. Normally they'll at least be shades from the same collection, just be forewarned that these are normally off.
Only one of the two Living Proof $40 gwps is working, at least as of this post. I assume it's one or the other, not a stack, but one doesn't work at all (the one with the aerosol).
The $160 bag loves glitches ๐
Wow, well I spent $125 worth of my hoarded points tonight. This platinum perk day is a jackpot! My fiancรฉ loves the Man Made body wash, so thatโs my gift to him! ๐
right!? I was looking forward to it as I usually am, but after last month's I was a little worried...guess I was right to be. ๐
Have you gone to every single thread that is not Sephora related to complain? What about Deals Too Good To Pass Up? How about threads for makeup brands that are not sold at Sephora?
If you're going to complain about something, at least be consistent...
@AlliGC We're bringing Ulta into a Sephora beauty community because some of us are makeup junkies and we don't care who our supplier is! I own 5 PMG palettes and not one of them was purchased at Sephora. I will buy from whatever retailer is making the best offer. Since Ulta has a great loyalty program and generous gifts with purchase, Ulta is usually a more attractive retailer to me over Sephora.
Ulta's loyalty program is a little difficult to navigate at first and I think this board offers a lot of assistance for fellow shopaholics in Ulta's incentives such as point multipliers and GWPs.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience with Ulta. Nobody here is an Ulta plant so we don't have a dog in the race as to whether you shop at Ulta or Sephora. I know Sephora has been copying a lot of Ulta's tactics (after Ulta copied a lot of Sephora's). My sense is someone at Sephora in corporate goes over this thread to see what consumers like about Ulta and they try to adapt it for Sephora. So, at the end of the day, Sephora is benefiting from this thread, and corporations don't have feelings so there's no disrespect.
it's actually a really smart way for Sephora to use their customers as unpaid data envoys. They can take everything discussed and use it to their advantage, which they have. As evidenced by the way Sephora now copies Ulta's big sales to compete, they are definitely getting as much out of these convos as we do so there's definitely no loyalty lost on either side.
Sephora allows discussion of ALL beauty, including items not available at Sephora, and retailers other than Sephora. As the other large player in the US market, it would be more surprising if there wasn't an Ulta thread, IMHO. And as the only decent rewards program among the two, of course Ulta deserves a little discussion ๐
I am sure there are other threads on the board that don't resonate with you either; you are absolutely free to ignore this one just like you would those. ๐
If you read back through the thread, @AlliGC this question has been answered previously. If you further check out the boards you'll also see threads for other merchants as well.
