Let's keep this thread on topic!
Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):
Item #1 - $53.50
Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)
* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x
Total Spent - $162
Base Points Earned - 162
Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)
5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)
5x Item/Brand Earned - 434
Total Points Earned - 1285
Links are not allowed. In lieu of links, please read this:
Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.
Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.
The product id is the number given to the item in the URL. So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number. If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.
It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.
Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar. It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204 Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.
My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:
(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward. E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward. Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase. Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.
| Multiplier | 1 | 1.25 | 1.5 | 2 | 2.25 | 2.5 | 3 | 3.25 | 3.5 | 4 | 4.25 | 4.5 | 5 | 7.25 | 7.5 | 8 | 8.25 | 8.5 | 9 | 9.25 | 9.5 | 10 | 10.25 | 10.5 |

Most multipliers are targeted, and unfortunately, no one really knows how Ulta decides who gets what. New accounts usually get stiffed for a while until they build up a bit of purchase history, but there's speculation that other factors might help as well. Adding stuff to your loves list, browsing the site, searches, reading emails, etc. It's all a guessing game though...
Ah okay, that makes sense. I just figured I might at least get more than just one the whole time I’ve had an account... 😞 I guess one of these days I’ll have to go through and make up some activity to fool ‘em into giving me multipliers haha.
@Anonymous you would go to more on the lower right hand side then go to Ultimate Rewards and then go to Beauty offers for it to show up. From there you would click on activate.
Her screenshot shows 0 next to bonus offers, so she doesn't have any.
@RGbrown I have never had that happen to me so maybe customer service can help her with the offers.
I've been meaning to ask this but...
I got the free Diamond Perk (Clinique Foundation) a couple of weeks ago. It is a horrible match for me. Literally orange. Does ULTA allows exchanges?! I haven't even opened it but when I saw the bottle, I gasped lol
I had to exchange mine, the sales associate gave me a hard time because he didn't understand about Diamond Perks and thought the color was standard. I had to show him the email and code for him to process it. So, I'd just have it readily available in case.
I exchanged the Smashbox Studio in store last year because the match was so poor @ArmyChick84 . An Ulta sales associate even color matched me.
Does Ulta no longer allow brand specific multiplier points earned on purchases made with points?
Trying to buy the Drybar hairdryer set + its not giving me the bonus points 😞
@Anonymous
Sadly, they seem to have shut that down a few weeks ago. Points don't roll anymore, no matter what sort of multiplier is offered 😥
BREAKING NEWS: I have just received an Ulta email. 😮
Woohoo @treestar86 ! I wonder what's up with their email system...not getting their emails has become too common.
I know that toggling email sub/unsub, changing emails, etc. sometimes works. Or Ulta stops sending emails if the customer stops clicking on them. A mystery
@RNGesusPls yes, I think doing the yes or no to email thing seems to work, but it can take a while. so it's worth trying. now I'm afraid with all this, that even emailing them to tell them you're not getting emails will irk them! lol.
but yeah, I probably wasn't really looking at them much anyway, or shopping much, bc I already spent a lot and have a lot of things...but you wouldn't think you'd stop getting their emails and offers, just because you stop shopping there...especially only after a month or two (I just got diamond at the end of last year, so I've only had a few months anyway!). that's just stupid. 😞
@treestar86 Hip, hip, hooray! Whatever you do, don't return anything you bought online to a store. It may be just our experiences, but a couple of us have noticed that pattern with our transactions.
This is so concerning though @Ispend2much6 ! I haven’t had any issues yet but what are we to do if we can’t see a product or color etc in store and it doesn’t work out! We shouldn’t have to keep it! I think it depends on the store also, I really do. This really makes me rethink online orders from them! Sephora has always been so good and the girls always say “oh no we never want you to keep anything you don’t love or doesn’t work out!” Within reason of course! Why I’ll stick w Sephora for sure I think! I have really liked Ulta at times and happy with their rewards system and new brands but this isn’t right. 😞
I'm sorry but, to me the whole thing is bologna! I'd tell ulta to hit the bricks if they cut me off. They are far from the only place to shop for beauty products, plenty of other retailers and manufacturers do great gwp's. And selling makeup and other products online and not expecting people to need to do warranted returns is bs. I will buy and return as I need to and if they don't like it, bye!
@Ispend2much6 yes, I noticed! I never have though...but last time I ordered something in-store, is when I seemed to stop getting them...seems like you have to tread carefully with these people! lol
@Ispend2much6 @treestar86 I still receive emails after I returned something to the store 😮
I've returned a lot of times in store something I'd purchased online. I'm not sure that this is a reason the emails stop for people as I've never had that happen.
I used to have a problem getting emails because my account was set as an email I use with the word spam in the name. I figured this caused the problem with the missed emails, and so I changed the email on my account. Since then, I've never had a problem and it's been years, plus many returns. So, who knows.
