ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

As many know, ULTA hosts multiple 21 day sales events per year where select items are on flash-sale for 24 hours at (usually) 50% off. This sales event goes on for 21 days (3 weeks) and each day new sales items are up for grabs. Personally, as a savvy shopper this is one of the events I watch closely for and like to plan ahead for since many times there are some truly best selling products offered up for 50% off.

ulta-21-days-of-beauty-2020.jpeg

This can be a great time of year to look out for those sought after products at a huge discount, introduce yourself to new products that you don't want to pay full price for (because now you don't have to) and stock up on some old time favorites. I have yet to see a thread made for this particular event and I thought it would be nice to have one dedicated solely to beauty that is the 21 days of beauty sale event. This is the place to discuss what you're looking forward to stocking up on, what you will be skipping and what you're going to take the plunge and finally buy this sales event!

The Daily Recap (and some very blunt and unsolicited opinions)

Event: Love Your Skin Summer 2022

Day 4: Wednesday, August 31st

Screen Shot 2022-08-31 at 10.59.37 PM.png

Top Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
Smashbox X BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter-$20  (Original Price: $40)
It would feel wrong to not put this as a winner being quite the collector of these throughout the last half decade or so (back when BECCA actually existed as it's own company). I'm so glad that Smashbox chose to revitalize these because this truly is a great OG highlighting staple. At first, they only had one color of it available but now I see all the previous shade range has been returning. If you don't already own these I highly recommend picking up Moonstone, Champagne Pop and Rose Quartz if you have fair/light/medium skin.

Flop Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
Smashbox X BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector-$16.50  (Original Price: $33)
This is not a bad item by any means and I know it has a bit of a cult following (another revival from the departed BECCA brand now under the Smashbox umbrella) however there had to be a "loser" throughout the day and out of all the things offered this item was simply the one I found least likely to be purchased within the beauty community and the least enticing.

What I Ended Up Buying:

Spoiler
Honestly, this was a good sale day but unfortunately nothing offered was "for me". As @Loretta55 mentioned the Too Faced brow products seem interesting, but I already own a lot of back-ups of my usual ABH brow products which I tend to use less as it is since I started coloring my brows more frequently. The Smashbox (BECCA) highlighters are amazing, but I own them in every shade and then some therefore without a some kind of new release, does not make sense for me to buy. The Lash offerings are also super nice but I have a ton of them (some from the same companies) laying around waiting to be used. For that reason, I'm going to pass.

Overall Thoughts:

Spoiler
As I stated, I genuinely think this was our first hands-down GOOD day where all of the items offered were solid. I know when a day is good when it's difficult for me to narrow down a "flop of the day" because it feels off to call any of the items flops. This day did just that! Love that they are offering the Smashbox (BECCA revivals) for those who missed out on them when BECCA closed down in 2020 and thought they were gone forever at such a nice discounted price. The lash offering line-up is fantastic I've been using House of Lashes for ages and the other brands offered such as Lilly Lashes and Velour Lashes are extremely well-loved. Kudos to ULTA for this one.

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

If I did not have so many eyebrow products in my stash I would have tried the Too Faced ones @QueenMarceline . I am curious about them.

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

@Loretta55 Yeah those are fairly new products as well 🙂 I've heard good things but I'm stocked up on my ABH brow products from the last few 21 day sales, haha!

Event: Love Your Skin Summer 2022

Day 3: Tuesday, August 30th

Top Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
Select Black Owned Beauty Products-$5-$12   (Original Price: $10-$85)
There's a solid variety of some well-loved beauty items within this sale pick, in particular: the Juvia's Place Lipstick and Lip Liners and the Keys Soulcare Sacred Body Oil. I love that ULTA is highlighting black-owned beauty brands throughout this sale, one could only wish more products were featured solely because of how many great beauty items there are which could have gone in this category.

*Honorable Mention: Anastasia Beverly Hills Luminous Foundation-$19  (Original Price: $38)
Although I don't never tried this foundation, I know it's quite popular within the community and that a lot of people will get good use out of this deal being featured. This product has an above 4 star rating with 3000+ reviews on the ULTA site, had to give it a shout out even though it isn't something I would have purchased.

Flop Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
Clinique Quickliner & High Impact Easy Liquid Eyeliner-$11-$11.50   (Original Price: $22-23)
Honestly it was difficult to choose a true "loser". On the outside looking in, all products are fairly loved within the beauty sphere, have 4 star or above ratings with a high number of credible reviewers. However, out of these items the Clinique liners are something I feel like the general public will get the least "use" out of. The TULA Blackhead Scrub comes from a newer up-and-coming brand that many people are excited about and buy from frequently and the First Aid Beauty cleanser is a coveted item especially by people who don't want to spend a fortune on their beauty products. Unfortunately, the Clinique eyeliners are going to get the boot within this line-up.

200w.gif

What I Ended Up Buying:

Spoiler
This is another day that I'll pass on. Unfortunately nothing from this line-up is something I particularly want and need and I'm still on my no-buy until the end of August. If I weren't on a no-buy I would probably end up getting a bit tempted by the Keys Soulcare Body Oil and the TULA Blackhead Scrub.

Overall Thoughts:

Spoiler
Out of the last 3 days of the sale, I feel like this has been the definite winner in my book without much contest. I see goos value in the products that were featured and feel like this was a really solid day especially in the amount of variety in products offered. Could this day have been stronger? Absolutely, but I really can't complain too much... this day gets the first thumbs up of the event in my book. 👍

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

I totally skipped the past 2 days of the event @QueenMarceline. Nothing interesting!

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

@Loretta55 I wholeheartedly agree, the past two days have been a snooze fest 👀🤣 Luckily, I think this day packs more of a punch and the upcoming days look a lot more promising.

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

Not much has caught my eye @QueenMarceline. At least my coworkers let me certain items for them so I can accumulate points.

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

@Loretta55 Same here, I haven't really felt like any of the items have stuck out to me enough to actually take the plunge and buy. There's a handful of days that I'm looking forward to in the future but the rest I'll likely be skipping.

Top Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
Benefit Cosmetics Select Mascaras-$13.50  (Original Price: $27)
A lot of people have been enjoying this line-up of mascaras from Benefit for a very long time: BADgal, They're Real and Roller Lash are all up for grabs during this day. I'm sure many people will pick up their long-time loved mascaras during this event.

*Honorable Mention: ELEMIS Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Pads-$30  (Original Price: $60)
Personally, I find this product to be an exciting addition to the sale day and happened to peak my interest the most. I've heard great things about this brand, these facial pads seem great and they have a 4.5 star rating with over 500+ reviews.

Flop Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
NUDESTIX Select Kits-$13.50-$22.50  (Original Price: $27-$45)
I feel like I heard all about how cool/amazing/awesome these were for a whole 2 months all over YouTube 5+ years ago and then... ~poof~ all the hype and talk seemingly vanished overnight never to be heard again. Everyone just stopped talking about these and using these. I'm not exactly sure why and have never tried them myself therefore I can't judge the quality of the product but out of the entire line-up this one sticks out as particularly lackluster for me.

bye-poof.gif

What I Ended Up Buying:

Spoiler
I skipped this day not only because I'm on a no buy but also because there's truly nothing that really makes me want to shop within this sale event day. Bummer.

Overall Thoughts:

Spoiler
I'll give credit where credit is due, this was a much stronger day compared to yesterday but unfortunately still left me longing for something a bit more special out of what was offered for half price. I'd definitely rate this day at the higher end of the "mid-tier".

Top Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
MAC Select Lipstick Bullets-$10.50  (Original Price:$21)
People have been raving about these lipsticks for well over the past two decades, this one was a clear winner for me. If August was not my no-buy month I would probably splurge to pick up a lippie or two. These lipsticks are truly iconic and not having them be the top deal of the day would simply be unfair. This lipstick is the definition of: oldie but goodie

Flop Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
L'Occitane Ultra Rich Body Cream-$24.50  (Original Price: $49)
I instantly knew this would be the flop of the day, but I couldn't figure out why? This cream used to be super popular but it seemingly fell off in popularity, my mom used to use this but I haven't seen it in her home in a solid few years. I was shocked to see this had a whopping 2 stars with well over 100+ reviews on the ULTA website, how?! Upon reading some of the reviews it turns out this product was reformulated and a lot of the die-hard users are not so pleased about the new formula. What a bummer.

What I Ended Up Buying:

Spoiler
Nothing. 🙂 I'm currently on a no buy and this day honestly was not very tempting for me.

Overall Thoughts:

Spoiler
I have to be honest, the fact I was not even mildly tempted to shop this day means that this day (in my opinion) was not particularly exciting. Although I can say, there are some solid picks on here that many people can enjoy and likely will pick up so it isn't a total ~womp, womp~ type of day either. I'd have to say that "it's okay".

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

Truthfully I’m not a fan of Mac lipsticks @QueenMarceline. I am bad at enabling but 2 points I will make, if you purchase anything in the Ulta app today you will get 5X points for your order. Also this is an event to spend your hard earned points.

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

@Loretta55 I have too many lipsticks as is, tbh and I'm already eyeing so many more 🤣 as per usual with me. I'm going to shop this event come September when there's more things that tempt me while still trying to remain on a "low buy" and be as selective as possible with the items I shop. This is a great day for huge MAC lipstick fans to stock up on their lippies especially with the 5x points multiplier! ❤️

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

I don’t have any items in my cart from the 21 Days of Beauty but I did add the new Manes by Mel Verb Curl Foaming Gel. I first got it during the 10X event. I only tried it on Friday and I am amazed by the results. It is so humid at my workplace that I must wear my hair in a ponytail for any relief. I also have the Persona blush that @CookieGirl1 recommended. Also my cart is still letting me use the 20% off code from non prestige items for an Ulta Strawberry Jam shower gel. It looks like a another good day to accumulate points to spend later during the event.

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

@Loretta55 That curl foaming gel sounds amazing 👀 my job requires me to sometimes (oftentimes) work out of a huge retailer/almost warehouse and I swear it so humid and dusty in there. I have to wear my hair in a pony tail whenever I'm in there for both humidity and safety reasons. My hair has hated my the last 4-5 months. 😞

Get those points!!! I love that ULTA coupons sometimes work past the date, it's one of my favorite things about them. I actually think I have an ULTA body wash on hand, it even might be the strawberry jam one bahahhaha.

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

@QueenMarceline I've never even tried using their coupons past the expiration date.  Why have I not known about this?!

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

@CookieGirl1 To be fair, I didn't know until I went in store and didn't realize one of my coupons was expired. The cashier pointed out it's expired but I still had it on my app so I asked if she could scan it and it worked! I then started doing this online with their coupons. They don't always work, but some of them do and usually it's usually about 24 hours after expiration although I've seen them more infrequently work 48-72 hours after. 🙂

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

@QueenMarceline Shoot, I'm gonna try it.

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

You probably have the banana body wash in your cart @QueenMarceline. I have 2 of them in my stash. The next item that is in my rotation is the Native Mint Cookie Cupcake body wash also enabled by @CookieGirl1 . I am currently finishing up the philosophy lemon custard. It is not an item that I plan on repurchasing. I wish that Ulta would carry the Vitabath lemon and cream body wash. It appears that the best deal on it is on Amazon.
