ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

As many know, ULTA hosts multiple 21 day sales events per year where select items are on flash-sale for 24 hours at (usually) 50% off. This sales event goes on for 21 days (3 weeks) and each day new sales items are up for grabs. Personally, as a savvy shopper this is one of the events I watch closely for and like to plan ahead for since many times there are some truly best selling products offered up for 50% off.

ulta-21-days-of-beauty-2020.jpeg

This can be a great time of year to look out for those sought after products at a huge discount, introduce yourself to new products that you don't want to pay full price for (because now you don't have to) and stock up on some old time favorites. I have yet to see a thread made for this particular event and I thought it would be nice to have one dedicated solely to beauty that is the 21 days of beauty sale event. This is the place to discuss what you're looking forward to stocking up on, what you will be skipping and what you're going to take the plunge and finally buy this sales event!

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

The Daily (Belated) Recap (and some very blunt and unsolicited opinions)

Event: Love Your Skin Summer 2022

Day 10: Tuesday, September 6th

Screen Shot 2022-09-08 at 5.44.56 AM.png

Top Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Day Cream SPF 23-$35  (Original Price: $70)
This was my top deal of the day because of how popular this cream/brand are, the reviews are fantastic, the savings amount is very nice due to the priciness of this cream and because ULTA featured this as a first time steal. Due to this being included on the sale event day not only will people who already love this cream be able to get it at a great price but also those who were previously unable to purchase it due to high costs may be able to give it a go for the $35 price tag (vs. $70).

*Honorable Mention* Perricone MD Select Products-$9.50-$79.50  (Original Price: $19-$159)
I know a lot of people really enjoy a variety of products from Perricone MD and since these are on the pricey side, getting a 50% off discount is quite the nice perk especially for those stocking up on some old time favorites. Had to give this a shout out especially since ULTA is discounting multiple items from the brand. Kudos!

Flop Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
COSRX Lip Sleep Ceramide Lip Butter Sleeping Mask-$9.50   (Original Price: $19)
It's one of those situations again where a loser unfortunately had to be chosen and the axe fell on this lip mask from COSRX. I know this is an adored product by many and I truly don't have anything bad to say about it. The only reason it ultimately got the axe over the other product left that was not chosen as "top deal of the day" or an honorable mention (Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primers) was that those primers have been extremely popular and raved about for a decade (or more) and have truly cemented themselves as one of those staple iconic products that many people still use today.

giphy (3).gif

What I Ended Up Buying:

Spoiler
Surprisingly enough (mostly to myself), I didn't shop this day and overall have been pretty good in comparison to the numbers I used to rack up during these iconic 21 Day Sales. #Growth 🤣 In reality, the one product I use on a regular basis is the Urban Decay shadow primers but I already have a few on hand and lately, I haven't been using them as much or wearing a lot of eye makeup in general. There was really no "excuse" for me to shop this day but I'm sure many others did 🙂

Overall Thoughts:

Spoiler
I have to say, this was a very good day. It was difficult for me to pick a loser because no item truly stuck out as one from this lineup. The Perricone sale products were nice, the UD primers were a great popular add on, the Shiseido cream was another great luxury add-on and even the "loser" COSRX lip mask was a fairly solid product. Although I wasn't necessarily inclined to shop this day, I still believe this was a fantastic sales event day and wish that all of the days packed the type of punch that this one did. One can only dream. 🤣

Day 9: Monday, September 5th

Top Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
Belif Moisturizing Eye Balm-$24  (Original Price: $48)
This is a great eye cream that is being featuring on the 21 day sale for the first time, I definitely believed this product would be the one to get the most grabs within the checkout cart during this event day. By 9pm eastern time, this eye cream was sold out so I must've been on to something with this one. This product has nearly 1,500 reviews with a very commendable 4.5 star rating. Hands down our winner of the day right here.

*Honorable Mention* beautyBlender BIO PURE Makeup Sponge-$10  (Original Price: $20)
It would feel a little off base not to at the very least mention this ultra popular product. A lot of people truly love these sponges from beauty blender and even though I rarely purchase them anymore the only times I have recently is when they have been featured on the ULTA 21 day sale. Major thanks to ULTA for giving us all a solid discount on this very pricey sponge. 😆

Flop Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
Stila Stay All Day Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner-$11  (Original Price: $22)
I actually still own a few of these and quite enjoyed them back in the day. This eyeliner has a nice variety of some really beautiful colors that are hard to come across with other brands, I'll give credit where credit is due. However, overtime I definitely outgrew these mostly for the reason that they are prone to smearing/running. Furthermore, I feel like almost every 21 day sale features this liner and as of 9pm eastern time not a single one of the colors offered are sold out. A few years back, I remember buying these and having to snag them early because they were likely to sell out later. It's very clear these have lost their popularity but ULTA keeps continuously trying to make us purchase these liners.

giphy (2).gif

What I Ended Up Buying:

Spoiler
This day was a pass for me, nothing particularly caught my eye enough for me to want to make the purchase. Onwards and upwards!

Overall Thoughts:

Spoiler
Coming after a few extremely strong days is always rough and this day certainly faded into oblivion (at least for me) after some of the great snags offered earlier in the week. Was this a bad day? I don't think so. Was this a "good" day? Also no. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh but I would have loved to see something ~more~ from this sale line up.

Top Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
Estee Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue Moisturizing Foundation SPF 45-$25   (Original Price: $50)
This is a fairly talked about foundation and Estee Lauder has been known for knocking it out of the park when it comes to foundation. I haven't personally tried this one (yet) but the fact it has SPF and is a moisturizing foundation is certainly a huge plus. By 9pm eastern time nearly half of the colors were sold out, showing that this deal clearly got shopped quite a bit by beauty lovers. Racking up a 4.4 star rating with well over 4,500+ reviews this is definitely a successful sale item.

*Honorable Mention* NARS Afterglow Lip Balm-$14  (Original Price: $28)
It didn't feel right leaving this product out of a shoutout. Since I can remember, people have loved these NARS lip balms and raved up/down about them. This is another item on the 21 day sale that I think will get shopped quite a bit, similarly to our winner of the day this item had sold out of most of their offered colors.

Flop Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
Exuviance Targeted Treatments-$20.75-$47.50   (Original Price: $41.50-$95)
The truth of the matter is that Exuviance offered some lovely choices of treatments including a hyaluronic acid face concentrate. This sale day was filled with really popular staple items that have lasted the test of time and unfortunately this deal just did not stack up. It came down to me believing ultimately this deal would get shopped the least during the sales event day.

b5aa5840afb370336acd2c29acf3fc4c.gif

What I Ended Up Buying:

Spoiler
Alright, I was not really planning on buying anything but the Estee Lauder foundation sucked me in. I really enjoy their face makeup products and I thought the moisturizing effects coupled with the SPF would be amazing for my skin in the winter time when I tend to gravitate from my oily (summer) form into my more dry (winter) form. I picked them up in the colors Fresco and Desert Beige. 🙂

Overall Thoughts:

Spoiler
I have to give it to ULTA, this was a fantastic day especially for makeup lovers with their well-loved and popular list of sale offerings. The Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner has been a staple and is ~almost~ everyone's favorite gel based liner. I ended up purchasing the Estee Lauder foundation myself and this was a great addition to the line-up in order to let beauty lovers try out a sought after foundation that is on the pricey side. The NARS Lip Balm was also a great addition, with many people running to purchase these well-loved lippies. The Exuviance Treatments may have been the "loser" but they truly were not a bad product whatsoever, simply the product I had to award that title by default because I believed the least amount of people would shop it. ULTA did great on this day compiling a solid full list of items to shop. Well done!

Top Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
Benefit Cosmetics Precisely, My Brow Pencil Waterproof Eyebrow Definer-$12.50  (Original Price: $25)
It would be wrong not to mention this one in the top deal of the day, this eyebrow pencil has been dominating the scene for quite some time now and it's definitely gone down as one of the trail blazers of the eyebrow game. This product has racked up 11,000+ reviews at over 4.5 stars, extremely respectable product that has stood the test of time.

*Honorable Mention* Clarins Total Eye Lift Eye Cream-$44.50  (Original Price: $89)
This is a very solid offer from ULTA on the 21 days sale, many people enjoy this eye cream and the Clarins brand in general. I personally have used a different eye cream from them and have been very happy with the quality and performance which is on par for anything else I've tried from this brand. This one has 2,000+ reviews with a 4.5 star rating which is very impressible in it's own right.

Flop Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
KVD Beauty Good Apple Skin-Perfecting Hydrating Foundation Balm-$20.25   (Original Price: $40.50)
This product just did not do it for me within this line-up and most of the reviews I've heard from people I personally know that have tried this out have veered on the negative end of the spectrum. I know a lot of people enjoy the KVD Good Apple Concealer which would have been a much better choice to feature within this sale opposed to this less-loved and less-known item. I would be willing to bet this product sold the least during this sale event day. This one is definitely a ~womp, womp~ for me... sorry.

NegligibleThirstyBeardedcollie-size_restricted.gif

What I Ended Up Buying:

Spoiler
I honestly did not feel a big push to purchase anything today, so I skipped this sale event day. Looking forward to the days yet to come that are more up-my-alley.

Overall Thoughts:

Spoiler
This sale event day had some nice choices including the Benefit brow, the Clarins eye cream and even the GlamGlow SuperMud Mask (which I personally do not enjoy but I know many other people do). I can't really complain too much but the clear "loser" of this lineup is the KVD Good Apple Foundation. I think this was a missed opportunity to feature an item that is much more liked from KVD Beauty such as their Good Apple Concealer but I was certainly confused when this surprise steal was revealed... I was certainly not expecting it and it was probably the last product I would have imagined being chosen as the surprise steal which I think soured the sale event day for me. Overall, a solid day with one clear miss.

Top Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
Lancome La Vie Est Belle Eau de Parfum-$20.50-$72  (Original Price: $41-$144)
I have to admit I'm being incredibly bias here because scent is such a personal thing. I really enjoy this perfume, it's been on my very long "list of perfumes to buy" for a minute now and I was incredibly tempted by this deal. I also know that this is quite the popular fragrance, some girls in my office wear this regularly as their "go-to" perfume. This was a fantastic deal, getting a perfume 50% off is nearly unheard of. Major shout out to ULTA for featuring fragrance in the line-up! ❤️

*Honorable Mention* Select Women-Founded Brands-$12.50-$34.50  (Original Price: $25-$69)
Love that this was an offering with multiple items from several brands, overall a very solid line-up. Featuring selections like: Teami Blends mask and serum, Indie Lee cream and cleanser, BeautyBio Gel Cream, Grande Cosmetics Lip Mask and Ere Perez Mascara. I've heard great things about most of these items, but especially the products featured by Teami Blends. A great variety, we love to see it!

Flop Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
Lancome Monsieur Big Volumizing Mascara-$13.50  (Original Price: $27)
This is by no means a bad mascara, it was simply the item that shined the least from this wonderful sale day. I'm sure many people added this to their cart and will get great use out of this deal. Admittedly, I believe mascaras on the 21 day sale don't give me as much joy and excitement as other categories of items do.

it-be-like-that-sometimes-like-that-sometimes.gif

What I Ended Up Buying:

Spoiler
This was a suuuuuper tempting day and I did want to shop a few items on this list specifically the Lancome perfume, the Teami Blends mask which I've been eyeing since even before the last 21 day sale when it was previously featured and the Elemis Resurfacing Cleanser was a sporadic want. However... I did not buy anything. Honestly, I shocked myself because I was fully wanting to splurge on this day... so, why didn't I? Two reasons, actually. 😂

1) Coming freshly off my no-buy and having intentions to continue making more careful choices about my purchases, I dragged my feet throughout the day. I made a cart and everything but simply never went through with the order. Truthfully, I wanted the la vie est belle perfume but I just purchased a perfume not long ago and I have SO MANY OF THEM ALREADY. Do I really need another perfume? No. Can I really justify another perfume with how big my collection is? Also, no. 😥 I wanted the Teami Blends mask but I also have an abundance of masks that I'm working my way through. Not justifiable. Too many cleansers waiting in queue to be used as well... 😫

2) I fell asleep at ~7pm, which was pretty much almost instantly after I got back from work. So there's also that 🤣 Hey, sometimes being stupidly exhausted can save you a couple of bucks. 😝

Overall Thoughts:

Spoiler
I always know when a sale day is great when it's difficult for me to pick a winner because there's a lot of great offerings, when it's hard for me to pick a loser because there really isn't one and also when I'm tempted to shop multiple items. This day simply checked all of those boxes. Even though I did not end up shopping this event, I think a lot of people ended up purchasing quite a few goodies on this day. Major hats off to ULTA for shining a spotlight on women-owned brands and doing a great job featuring a popular variety of items from well-liked brands.

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

La Vie Est Belle will be on sale again @QueenMarceline @but you may need to purchase from Lancôme direct. I enabled my coworker to purchase it last year when it was on sale.

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

@Loretta55 I definitely should pick it up sometime in the future. I really enjoy the scent. 🙂

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

I’m excited to see what the Buxom and YSL surprise deals are (I really want to stock up on some fragrances and I love Buxom’s lip plumping products) So far I’ve only participated in the Juvia’s Place sale but I’m hoping something else catches my eye soon!

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

@CairoSimone Me too! I'll have to check what BUXOM products I do not already own. They usually feature them during the 21 days sale and it's to the point where I already have back-ups of my favorite lip creams 🤣 Super excited to see what they will offer as well as the YSL! ❤️

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

I don’t know if you have been reading through this thread @CairoSimone, but @QueenMarceline has enabled me to try the Too Faced Pillow Balms which will be on sale 9/12. It is truly life changing! I might even call it my favorite new to me product for 2022. The banana kiss and the cocoa kiss balms are colorless. The watermelon kiss and the mango kiss leave a very light stain. Of course the original is colorless.

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

I missed that reply but I’m honestly sold! I’ve been seeing good reviews online since the 21 Day rollout happened so I’m definitely going to add it to my list. I might as well give it a try while its 50% off lol

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

@CairoSimoneHighly recommend! As @Loretta55 said, I've been enabling this within the community for 6-ish months now and I'm so glad everyone (thus far) is also really enjoying them. So excited to finally get one to slide into every purse. 🤣

Event: Love Your Skin Summer 2022

Day 5: Thursday, September 1st

Top Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
Foreo LUNA Mini 3-$89.50  (Original Price: $179)
I definitely think this one is the winner, I love seeing higher ticket items on the 21 day sale event. Usually, in the past they would offer up the non-rechargable Foreo devices so I was thrilled that they are finally offering a more permanent device during this sale. I've been wanting a Foreo ever since 1) Clarisonic went out of business and 2) since my discovery that I actually really enjoy using silicone on my skin, after purchasing my very well loved silicone bath brush.

Flop Deal of the Day:

Spoiler
Clinique Even Better All-Over Concealer + Eraser-$14.50   (Original Price: $29)
I'm sure many love and enjoy this product but out of the line-up I definitely found it to be the least strong item offered. I feel like a decade ago, Clinique was all the big buzz and almost everyone used a handful of items from them. However, I feel like their popularity has really dwindled over time. Even my aunt who is a huge "Clinique gal" has stopped using some of their products in favor of others on the market in the last few years. I just don't think this deal will be shopped as much as the others in 2022.

200.gif

What I Ended Up Buying:

Spoiler
It's no longer August so I do not have my no-buy excuse and that was good enough for me to finally pick up the Foreo LUNA Mini 3. I simply could not pass it up. I also tagged on some other necessities and got my total as close as possible to $125 then redeemed 2,000 ULTA points. My out of pocket cost was $7 for the Foreo, 2 shaving oils, 3 face masks, 2 foot masks, a banana body wash and a set of hair clips that I desperately needed. 🙂

Overall Thoughts:

Spoiler
This was a very solid day with the high ticket item from Foreo as well as the StriVectin serums and the Beekman 1802 probiotic moisturizer. I cannot complain too much, although I would have loved to see some variety in this day. We got 1 device, 2 skin care products and a concealer. If we could receive another makeup deal within this day, I think it would have been a lot more well rounded. I shopped this day, so it was solid but it was abundantly clear that this was a "skincare type-of-day".

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

I am glad that you used points to purchase items that you have been interested in trying @QueenMarceline. You missed mentioning the Too Faced brow products . @Ispend2much6 purchased the new brow gel and she really liked it. I commented that too bad I did not see her review the day before.

Re: ULTA: 21 Days (of Beauty) Sale Event Thread

@Loretta55 The Too Faced brow products were available on August 31st, this line-up is from September 1st. 🙂 I unfortunately have way too many brow products from ABH that I need to go through which I'm finding super hard to do every since I started getting my brows done/colored so I wouldn't have been able to shop this product without some major guilt but I've heard some amazing things about these. One of my best friends started using this a couple months back (she looooves Too Faced), seems like a promising new product that might have the potential over time to reach the likeness of the Benefit brow or the ABH in popularity. ❤️
