100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

So I’m here for day 27? Maybe? 🤷🏾‍♀️ 🤔🙄 Anyway, this is Smashbox Be Legendary Liquid Metal in Space Case with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Cuff. Interesting. I’ll probably put a top coat of something soft over it, but overall I totally stretched out of my comfort zone with this one. My daughter liked it and said I looked like the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz - complete with robot-like movements. 🤣 I really love my child. What can I say? We’re both nuts to our families. We just don’t conform. Speaking of that, check out my twists. I’m surprised they didn’t tell me at work not to come in until I fixed my hair. I love it. At least I’m not running around here looking like Albert Einstein anymore. 🤣

Thanks @Weetart! The more I look at this color the more I think I may like it. The formula has hella transfer, but since it’s not supposed to since it’a a liquid metal. It met my fiancé’s seal of approval. 😳 As for my twists, there are people who get penalized for the way they wear there hair. I’ve heard many stories - braids, dreads, twists, Bantu knots, you name it. I know some people get in trouble for color. Hair is a way of expressing yourself. I got hired at my new job  with my wild Afro. I’ll be in twists and one of my more sedate (blue, orange, purple? Nah maybe I need to work my way up to those. 🤣) But who knows? My manager has a nose ring and platinum hair.

@divaknits I actually like that lipstick on you! Also love your twists! Anyone who tells you to fix your hair while you’re wearing those twists deserves some serious side eye, at a minimum. 

When I was transitioning from relaxer to natural, I never big-chopped (wasn’t willing to sacrifice my shoulder length hair, despite damaged ends) and usually kept my hair in twist-outs and braid-outs. I don’t remember how long it took my natural regrowth to reach my shoulders, but I do remember cutting my ends once a month until finally there were no relaxed ends left. Twists helped me see exactly where I needed to cut. 😂 That was 15 years ago. It’s a memory your twists just brought back to me. 🙂

@WinglessOne I big-chopped my hair nearly 20 years ago before growing it back out for dreadlocks. They were down to my bra strap. When they got too heavy for my head when I washed them and a couple fell out I knew it was time to let go. So I BC’d again. My hair grows slowly now so I never get longer hair. It grows, just not as fast as it used to. I’m impressed that you had the perseverance to wait for your hair to grow out. I’m too impatient. 🤣 Thanks by the way. This lippie is actually comfortable, but the transfer is real. The fiancé said absolutely nothing when I picked him up. Guess he’s gotten used to what he’s getting.

Day 98, lipstick 115: Fenty Mattemoiselle in Turks & Caicos, with an ombré of MAC Liptensity in Stallion. When I saw a promo photo of T&C, I thought “oh, I’ll definitely put that teal to the test” and, well, it’s bolder and brighter than I expected! 😂 Today’s my first wear test and I chose to temper the brightness with a little black ombré at the corners. Feels as comfy as other Mattemoisells so no complaints there. 

I’m finally well enough to wear some makeup again, hooray! Skin’s still fussy, though.

Edit: Curiosity made me swatch T&C against my other 2 teal bullets to see just how much brighter/lighter it is. So...

T-B: Fenty Turks & Caicos, ColourPop Getty, MUFE C603. L is indoor lighting, R is beauty lighting.
C603 is really supposed to be midnight blue. On me, it sometimes reads very teal. Other times, in certain lighting, it does read closer to a dark blue. Getty is definitely teal. If forced to limit myself to just one teal bullet, I’d choose Getty over T&C. But I don’t intend to ditch T&C. 🙂

Omg my fiancé HATES T&C! Sooooo...that means I must buy it. 🤣 I do try to buy something he likes at the same time I get something I like. Two lipsticks. Yeah!

Thanks @divaknits ! This is the last lipstick I bought in a store: I grabbed at a local Sephora last month. It’s the only in-store lipstick I bought last month, surprisingly. I’m trying hard to stick to my lipstick low-buy this year. 😂 But anyway, you should definitely try it!
