Mothership VI Eyeshadow Palette - Midnight Sun
@TraceyEB no problem! If you’ve got pink undertones, I would not recommend 3 and 5 as those have yellow undertones. From what I recall, shade 6 was the pinkest out of all the shades and shade 4 was the peachiest.
Thank you, @gonerogue! The Sephora color match matches me to 10 but I really want to see on store. It does look good based on your swatches.
@curlychiquita Yes, I do recommend you just check it out in stores. Color IQ matched me to shades 3,5,7 so I had to see the shades for myself in all types of lighting before I bite the bullet.
@gonerogue I'm usually pretty good at matching online too but I was torn between 5 and 7 as well. PMG's website was no help, all the model's skintone look the same lol what shades do you usually wear in other foundations?
When I don’t self tan, I match perfectly to: Too Faced’s Peach foundation in porcelain
Estée Lauder DW in 1W1 Bone
Bare Minerals Barr Pro in Sateen 05
Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion in Vanilla
La Mer in Crete 03
Dior Backstage in 1W
When I do self tan, I match well with:
It Cosmetics Matte foundation in Light
Estee Lauder DW in 2N1
Hourglass stick foundation in Linen
For my normal pale self, I will buy shade 3 in PMG and will consider shade 5 for my self tan days but it’s really not a priority right now as I don’t usually self tan unless I plan on going somewhere with warm weather.
I went to my sephora store to grab a sample of the new foundation (no way Id spend $90 CAD in case I didnt like it). I got shade 5 and it is a perfect match. I took a photo where I used it on half my face. It looked good at first but then settled into my pores (which are small) and wore away and looked patchy after only a couple hours. I even tried it with my Chanel setting powder and nope, didn’t help. No good for me 😞 also I found that it smells kinda strange. For reference I have light skin with yellowy olive undertones. My skin is combination, only sliiiightly oily on my t zone in the summer.
@sabrinas I am sorry that it didn't work for you - thanks for sharing! That color is a perfect match and photographed nicely as well.
@sabrinas Thanks for the review. Sorry it didn’t work for you. I have oily skin and my pores aren’t huge but aren’t very small either. I need to check which Toronto store has this available so I can grab a sample to try.
Sorry that this didn't work for you! Thanks for telling us your results.
Thx you for the review @sabrinas Sorry it doesn’t work well for you. I want to try this out but want to wait for more reviews first 😘
I went to the sephora store and got a sample of the new foundation. Just tried it today and loving it so far. I have sensitive skin so I hope I'm not allergic, I have been allergic to every liquid formula I've tried and it often takes a week of applications for a reaction to show up.
I have dry skin and don't find this to be drying, though it feels a tiny bit tight around my chin area. The rest is okay and it has a satin finish that makes me look radiant.
I actually applied with my fingers after the sephora rep told me she did and that's what pat mcgrath suggested and I was pleasantly surprised how well it worked. I did not use a primer today and it blended in perfectly on one side of my face - can't see the foundation at all. On my other cheek as well as my nose, it looked a bit powdery as those areas were drier/flakier. I always have problems with my nose. I will experiment with exfoliation/primer/sponge and see how it goes, but the initial results were impressive to me. My biggest gripe with foundation is that I can always see it no matter how good it is, and I'm hopeful that will change with this one.
I don't wear foundation much but my go-to is the Tom Ford stick foundation. I'm the shade 1.5 Cream and that and the PM Light 5 seems to be a match. One coat of this is much lighter, natural coverage than the stick foundation. It feels more lightweight than TF but also not as moisturizing.
My only con with the foundation is that like the TF stick, it feels a little wet/tacky after you apply and doesn't dry on it's own. I never set it because of my dry skin and this makes me wait longer to apply the rest of my face. It wasn't as wet as the TF, and after 5 min I applied my powder products and it turned out fine even though it still felt like it was wet.
I noticed that too but I wasn't sure when it happened. It's a shame but I love her products so I won't complain @Notyourbeyotch I think they're worth it!
Bummer about the raised prices, @Notyourbeyotch. Thank you for letting us know.
Not sure if this is helpful at all, but if though I’d post swatches of the PMG foundation in shade 4 and a before and after. On the top right photo I am only wearing skincare + foundation (no concealer).
I received through Influenster for free yada yada (I know some hate Influenster, but I though the images could be helpful!). I only tried it twice so I can’t give my final thoughts. I am doing more testing with different primers etc. I would say it’s probably a satin finish, but the skincare/primer you use will def make a difference in that. I moisturized my skin and used a more emollient primer in this photo and barely powdered with the CT pressed powder. I used only 1 pump and the photos are unfiltered/unedited under natural daylight.
I did have a very positive first impression. The formula was thin and liquid-y, it gave me a meaningful yet very skin like coverage. The final test will be how well this photograph at night with flash. It did oxidize a little, so if you're in store swatch it and wait 10/15 minutes for the final shade.
The PMG foundation looks beautiful on you! Your skin looks natural and it doesn't look like you have much makeup on (this no makeup, makeup look works well on you). <333
