I realized we don't have an OOTD, outfit of the day thread, which isn't needed but can still be a lot of fun.  It's dress up for me, but make it adult.

This was part spurred by my natural hair journey, Tress Trek - A Transition Journal from Relaxer to Natural and NYFW and Zendaya.  99% Zendaya.

The Fit- this can be your attire, or what has arisen from the Capsule Challenge, your makeup bag.  Hair and fragrance "fits" count, too


The Fab - What you loved enough to be inspired by or loved the most about your look

Fit: Shacker + Plaid pants and Multi colored loafers

This was before the dreadful cold came in, the Fab was how everything actually worked well together.  The plaid pant wasn't what I though it'd be, but the orange lent itself to tying everything together.

The Face... Thank goodness for timestamps, because I forgot.  This was a cheek Challenge, I think it was a very Villainous one I never posted.  I love the lip, it's Fenty's Arcane Kaboom and MUFE artist color in whatever black.

The Fab: Pantoning It in

Pantone Colour of the Year 2025 - Mocha Mousse I should also post a battle of browns... But yeah, I've leaned into this and I think it's a persona for me now(?) and you all are so kindly co-signing this madness😂 as I become Miss Mocha Mousse .

The Fit RTR Ulls Johnson.  I might just buy this sweater, I keep thinking about it..the pants are rented, too... But brand new.  I think I might just pay the hold fee for these for a couple of months...Shoes, second appearance here, BR boots

The Fab: Inspired by @itsfi and her Lost Pattern Scarf... I've been on the hunt for houndstooth, and finally found some.  Bantu Knots are becoming more and more my protective style of choice for my hair

The Face: this is Miss Mocha Mousse week for the Capsule Makeup Collection Challenge 2025 

The Fit: I love this Gap sweatshirt, it's from a collab with Cult Gaia.  It's cropped just right, and roomy without looking too baggy.  And the hat, is Ami Colé, y'all!

The Fab: all things 90s. The Gap. Bucket Hats.  Brown lip and liner.  Gimme gimme.

I'm glad I got a chance to wear them before the artic temps...I haven't seen three toned loafers before, so I had to have them.  They are aerosoles @itsfi

Oooh, 7 years, that's pretty good.  I don't think I have the willpower.   Refresh that wardrobe!  A wardrobe refresh doesn't always require something new, it can also just be pairing things up differently, layering differently, or just ysing something else a different way.  For awhile, I used to have certain outfits, like things I would always wear together, but it's sometimes good to mix them up, you might find new fave outfits from what you already have.

@danielledanielle I am loving all of your Miss Mocha Mousse looks! I just LOVE your style!! RTR seems like a great concept. It is something I have never tried. Can we also talk about your animal print shoes and Ami Colé hat?!? You have an amazing ability to put outfits together. I will be over here taking notes! I keep reading great things about the Dior Forever Glow in the Community. What technique do you use when applying it?

Yes! I love my leopard boots! @Mellmars1185 , Animal prints are awesome, I think I have mostly leopard print things, but some others sneak in.

R/T Dior show, you can use it pretty similar to the Rare Beauty one, but it's a little more forgiving.  I can use my fingers, my half magic baby paw blush brush, Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Soft Pinch Blush Brush and occasionally a Beautyblender Biopure Sustainable Green Makeup Sponge ... They all work, except with the latter I sometimes have to go in with more product if it blends it out too much.  I also use the lighter shades like gold and nude as an eyeshadow base... That's usually finger applied.

For this highlighter, wet

For a baked highlighter (like hourglass, the Fenty Demi one, rare beauty etc etc) both dry and wet. Dry makes them opaque, wet makes them gleaming

I went with a feature film inspired capsule for Capsule Makeup Collection Challenge 2025 this week, with The Devil Wears Prada as my movie inspo. I actually think I'm going to take inspiration from a few of the outfits from TDWP for future looks here. For the first one, it's one of the outfits from the makeover montage for Anne Hathaway's character. 

The Inspo:

I made some changes to better suit my style and what I have in my closet, as well as the weather.

The Function:

No special occasion, other than wanting to put together a look for this thread. 

The Fit:

• Long emerald-green single-breasted wool coat
• Oversized rectangular sunglasses
• Faux-leather gloves, from about 5+ years ago
• Plaid tights, inspired by a look our fabulous @heartsmyface posted last month
• Gold earrings
• Leopard-print infinity scarf that I found while unpacking; this was from years back. Leopard print reminds me of our marvelous @Mellmars1185 and Sephoria
• Knee-high boots with 3" block heel and a square-round toe - ha, the toe shape of my boots match my fingernail shape - that was not planned, but it's a different way to go about being matchy-matchy! 😅
• A-line black knit dress - it looks like short dress, but mine hits just above my knee because I'm a bit vertically challenged. 😉
• Black quilted purse - I've had this for at least a decade - it's roomy, holds a lot of papers, my water bottle, wallet, keys, phone, a small makeup bag, etc. and the padding on the handles keep it from digging into my shoulders

The Fab:

💚  The coat - The Loft, circa winter 2022. One of the best things about this piece is that I thought it was 40% off but it turned out it was 75% off. Needless to say, I revisited the rack to see if there might be another coat that called to me.

The Fingernails:

These are my natural nails, with 3 thin coats of OPI Bare My Soul. Base and top coats are Deborah Lippmann Hard Rock Nail-Strengthening Top & Base Coat. Went with a square round nail shape.

@itsfi What a wonderful outfit! I love your style. Pairing the paid tights and leopard peint scarf will add som fun layers and depth to the outfit. I wish I could put outfits together like this. Maybe it takes practice? Have you seen the movie before? Your nail polish is going to go so well with the outfit. It is such a great neutral that will go with other outfits also. The jacket is definitely the star of the show. What a great steal  deal you got on it!
