I realized we don't have an OOTD, outfit of the day thread, which isn't needed but can still be a lot of fun.  It's dress up for me, but make it adult.

This was part spurred by my natural hair journey, Tress Trek - A Transition Journal from Relaxer to Natural and NYFW and Zendaya.  99% Zendaya.

The Fit- this can be your attire, or what has arisen from the Capsule Challenge, your makeup bag.  Hair and fragrance "fits" count, too

Dandy-ish

The Fit: Simkhai asymmetrical shirt dress. I love the pinstripes, and while I have blue loafers, I wasn't sure about the weather that day.  I liked how the tan have contrast but also compliments my coloring. 

The Fab: I'm interested in seeing how many "menswear" elements I can combine for work.  I wish the dress had a upper pocket because I'd think a pocket square would be killer.  I also thought broach, but I don't have many of those and I'm pretty picky about pins.  The motorcycle jacket is on its last days, but it still works as a blazer.

The Face: If I can't work at the beach, I'll bring the beach to work with Ace Beauté Oceanic Palette and VIOLETTE_FR YEUX PAINT Liquid Eyeshadow & Eyeliner Dieu Bleu 

The Fit: "Corset for the boardroom" 😂 Normally, I'd wear a corset over a shirt or a dress, but this time, I had it underneath a shirt dress.  Gotta keep things interesting for myself. RTR for the corset and trousers.  Everything else (shoes, shirt, earrings) my own (D'IYANU and Marc Jacobs)

The Fab: Still dandying it up. Any way I can remix menswear , I'm going to do it. I like the detail on the back of the trousers in particular and the studded shoes. 

The Face 

Ace Beauté Oceanic Palette with Danessa Myricks Beauty Mini Pastel Dream Freedom Palette is 🤌🏽🤌🏽

The Fit: Been waiting to get my hands on this Boss Fit.  The sizing on this is crazy.  I am not a size 2, but this blazer apparently is 🙃🤷🏽‍♀️

The Fab: I didn't know what shirt to pair with this and I overslept, so I grabbed what I thought works and made it werk.  I feel the suit definitely calls to Miami Vice with my sunglasses pairing.  I also am not a soro, but felt the Green + Pink of AKAs would work.  The denim from my shoes and tote keeps it laid back.  I think of I had time, this would've been a very different look... Black loafers, slick back hair, but I'm not mad it.  It's giving "cool with chaotic undertone" 😂

The Face: Very soft Glam.... Again, not what I planned, but what happened.  Deets to be posted in

Where to start @danielledanielle ..? Rocking each fit as always. I'm loving the dandy look: what a great dress. I think the nude shoes look amazing but can see how blue would work just as well in a totally different way. You literally saved my you know what yesterday as I saw this post while I was getting ready to go with a friend to happy hour and flailing to find the right fit. I saw your "corset" just because look and was like...YASSS! Put a structured vest over my tee and finally felt like it was an outfit. Thank you, thank you! And that's not even mentioning the Boss look - I die.

Keep dandying it up @danielledanielle - dandy-ish, with a corset for the boardroom, and Miami Vice style! These looks are marvelous. I saw the earrings in the collage and thought, tell me those are hers - if not, I'd vote for you to buy 'em. Are they heavy on your ears?

First time, yes @itsfi because I went from basically not wearing earrings for years to this.  😂

I'm getting used to the weight on my Hoops again.  A lot of the time, they rest on my shoulders.

Uh, picked up a tip from IG: thebeautydebut, where she placed stickers on the back of the ears to help with the weight.  I realized I can use acne colloidal patches the same way instead of buying something, and also when I googled this later, you can also cut a band-aid into pieces and use the adhesive part the same way.  I also give my ears a break and wear them every other day.

Another look, or looks really, inspired by The Devil Wears Prada's Miranda Priestly. 

I had a few ideas in mind for outfits inspired by Meryl Streep's Miranda Priestly when I put together the first OOTD earlier this year - Miranda Priestly OOTD 1. I mentioned in that post having 4 MP-inspired looks. This is look #2 and it's 4 different outfits, one for each season, all inspired by the "trench coat" scene.

The Inspo:

Many of these pieces have been part of other Fit, Fab, Face outfits of the day. There's 4 look boards so I'll try to be deep and brief with the FFF details, focusing primarily on pieces that haven't been part of a previous OOTD. Living in the city means mild temperatures throughout the year, for the most part. It also means that it's altogether possible (and in fact happened this week) that I can dress for spring and fall/winter weather within days of each other. A couple of these OOTDs were from earlier this year, but I've been waiting to curate a look with all seasons before posting.

Miranda Priestly OOTD 2.0 - Fall:

Fall Fit:

• Heather beige cashmere sweater and camisole. Sweater is from C by Bloomingdale's. fyi, these are great staples and routinely go on sale during the holidays. 
• Black pants, slim fit, ankle length
• Lamarque Quinn Trench Jacket
• Suede pumps, Christian Louboutin
• Flat hair clip, with an infinity loop design 
• Square aviator sunglasses, Victoria Beckham
• Black belt with gold detailing (from another dress)
• Mini red vegan leather clutch/shoulder bag, Mansur Gavriel - this was part of TDWP Jacqueline Follet-inspired OOTD in March of this year

Fall Fab:

• the cropped trench jacket, mainly because I got it on sale after eyeing it for months
• flat hair clip - I'm loving flat hair clips. They're gentler on my scalp, in general, and the many times during the day when I lean my head back (ngl, sometimes in deep exasperation 🙄). @PrettyPaint , I picked up a couple more flat hair clips since we last chatted  about them).

Fall Face:

• Gold, wavy, hoop earrings - I'm not sure where I picked these up. I noticed that Miranda Priestly often wears hoop earrings in the film, so I rummaged through some old jewelry. Thee might be from Express, way back in the day. Vintage.
• Oversized, rectangular sunnies, Burberry
• Multi-tonal, burgundy scarf - this was a gift from a while back
• Burgundy purse, Mango - I like the psuedo-retro feel to the structure of this handbag
• Black, high bateau neck sheath, Karen Millen
• Camel, double breasted, belted, wool blend coat, Reiss
• Black sheer tights, most likely from Target
• Black high heeled, knee high boots, DUO Boots

• the boots - I have wider calves and this brand specializes in wider-calf boots. 💗 

Winter Face: 

• From Week 1 of this years Capsule Makeup Collection Challenge 2025 with some adjustments to the lips. The standouts are Cle de Peau The Foundation + Yves Saint Laurent Couture Mini Clutch Eyeshadow Palette 100 Stora Dolls + Ami Colé Hydrating Lip Treatment Oil Romance - the CdP and YSL are part of this year's Pan It! - 2025 Challenge

Miranda Priestly OOTD 2.0 - Summer:

Summer Fit:

• Cotton-linen blend high neck top, from amazon
• White cotton linen palazzo pants - the one pictured seems to have more structure than my pair. I wear the detachable sash as a bow to the side
• Black cardigan, worn tied over my shoulders
• Red, square Mary Jane flats with basketweave design, Rothy's
• Raffia cluth with black leather trim, Liselle Kiss - it comes with a gold chain but I wear it more often as a clutch, I picked it up during one of half yearly Nordstrom sales last year
• Filigree earrings and bangle bracelet give the look an easy breezy feel

Summer Fab:

• the top - the back, with the buttons, adds a fun touch

Summer Face:

• Tinted sunblock of some sort + MAKEUP BY MARIO SoftSculpt Transforming Skin Enhancer®  as an all over shade (with a light hand) to match my slightly tanner mug + Finding Ferdinand blush in Pho (a blood/wine red hue). This combo was from Summer Cheek Challenge 2025: A Song & A Slay If I feel like I want to bronze or add contour, I would reach for the DIOR Forever 24H Skin Contour Stick Sculpting and Bronzing Face Stick

Ha!  You got to them!  I am loving how you've kept this going, I feel like the second one is right from the screen itself.  You could totally style characters in media @itsfi

Yeah, I think the big hurdles are getting the timing and weather for the looks I want to recreate or reinterpret. This has been so much fun to do, @danielledanielle. I won't be able to keep this going until the sequel premieres (May 2026) but I will be better prepared when that one comes out - I may have to see it twice, once for the actual story and plot, and another time (or more) for the fashion. Though maybe not in that order. 😂 

Oooh, that would be fun. I like putting togehter outfits.

@itsfi Did you get the same flat clips as before? I got the ones from Amazon - they're really great. Also, I'm wanting to watch The Devil Wears Prada once again after viewing your post - love that movie. I love all trench coats you posted as well. I may have missed it, but what's the brand of boots that works well for your calves? I often have trouble finding tall boots that fit my legs properly.

@PrettyPaint, the one in the pic is similar to the ones from amazon, though a little smaller, a bit trickier to use, but with a bow detail. A friend's daughter really wanted them, so I picked them up and kept the one shade she didn't want. I use the oval flatter more simple design version (the bottom one in the photo below) 99% of the time because it's easier to use. The bow has a hook and clip and, let me be real, I'm at that place/age/headspace  where it's gotta be a good and special reason for me to do an extra step with putting my hair up. Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty design but that hook feature to the bow design I only reach for if I feel like I should put the extra effort for a look. 😂

Putting together looks inspired by the film has been fun and it's gotten me to shop my stash - some outifts are similar to what I would wear or have worn and others have me putting things together from my closet that I might not have otherwise. Win-win! 

oh, the boots... from Duo Boots. Website is just that - duoboots(dot)com. They have a section where they walk you through how to meaure calves and legs to get the best fit. They're a UK based company, but I've not had any issues with shipping to the US. I still have boots that I first purchased from them years ago. The only thing is that some of their measurements are based on the metric system, which makes sense as that is what they use, so you may need to do some conversion from centimeters to inches. I just keep a screen to a conversion website, or I think I may also have an app for it.

@itsfi That bow clip is really cute too, but I am not sure I could be bothered with the hook and clip. I wish I was someone who put a lot of effort into my hair, but I'm just not. 

Duo Boots?!? I've never heard of that brand. Thanks so much. I just took a quick look at their site, and they have some beautiful styles. The ankle boots look really nice too! 

By the way, sorry for all of the questions. I realized I really put you to work answering them! 🙂

@PrettyPaint, I like that that brand has some great styles and variety of styles to choose from - it's a nice added touch. No need to apologize about the questions - they're good ones. lol, I was thinking, hmmm... I don't know off the top of my head how these would fare for someone who sleeps on their stomach and then, it was ... well, there's one way to find out. 💡

P.S. 100% with you on the hair. I've been doing my hair more but it doesn't take a lot of time and I've found ways to get in what I need to do while doing something else so it feels like I'm not spending much effort. But the flat clips I tell ya are coming in handy even for that!! I tend to air dry my hair unless I'm planning on styling it so one day when it was mostly dry, I put it up with the flat clip and by the time I got home at the end of the day, I had some loose curls/wave - I'm sure that can come in handy for some occasion, so I've made a "note to self" about it. 😅

Black Dandyism

I've really enjoyed the suiting I'm doing, and thrilled that the Met Gala have me extra life on this. 

The Fit: First time buying anything off a social media post, but I saw a completely different op piece (mini dress) and ended up finding this suit from D'IYANU, and I'm over the moon.  Blouse was also a happy find, I waited for the right discount and got it from Bloomie's, Generation Love.  And I'm back in my Hoops era.

The Fab: Pan Africanism. Juneteenth. Say less.

The Face: Summer Cheek Challenge 2025: A Song & A Slay It's the kick off to summer and Red & RED-dy week... Very much having a "Made For Now" Moment

The Fits: Errbody-RTR, My own. Banana Republic, Rodejber, Kate Spade, Thebe Magugu, Old Navy, Great Jones NY, etc etc.  I went on vacay, and I did a chaotic fit of 10+ outfits into my carry-on.

The Fab: everything? (I keep telling y'all I'm wearing all my pretty things, using my pretty things.  Those big studded sunglasses, I call them my funglasses...😂). I was inspired by just needing to vacate. And also, by an ex.... I once changed outfits 3-4x on a "date"...and he asked, "Who do think you are, Diana Ross?" And think my response was... Blank stare "And?" 😂 I've always loved the idea of day of outfits without having far to travel between places...it finally happened.

The Face: This was the Vacation Week of Capsule Makeup Collection Challenge 2025 .  Danessa Myricks Beauty Mini Pastel Dream Freedom Palette was a perfect travel companion.  I also brought NARS Hot Escape Cheek and Face Palette (Deep), Danessa's Light work VI and Fenty's Sunstalk'r Face+ Eye Palette

I love that you were able to fit in that many outfits in your carry-on 🙌 If your OOTD were any indication, you had a fabulous time on vacation.

That Black Dandyism suit!!! The blouse with those bows!!! It brings that entire outft together. A plain white button up wouldn't do that suit justice.

Ah, I initially thought the bow would make it too costume-y, and I had a white shirt ready to go, but went with the blouse because I'm saving the white shirt for later this week.

Oh the ways we make sure everything fits into our suitcase, our toiletries bag, etc. I can see how that might be a concern @danielledanielle, but I think the bows are not so large as to overwhelm or compete with the print on this suit.

So, my phone was already dying, but then I LOST it 😭.  What a Monday.

My suiting was on point, but no pics, so here's what I piecemealed...

The Fit RTR with Rojedber Rodebjer and Ganni.  BR, too...my own.  The shirt I wore underneath was sheer, black tuxedo shirt and the shoes match the bag.  I also wore my GWP, my J'adore keychain.  I like to fasten it to the top button on a shirt with buttons so it looks like a bolo tie.  The sunglasses are block shaped like Gagas in her "The Fame" era

The Fab:  The suit, obvs.  I'm considering buying it, but oof, that's a purchase.  Also, the Met Gala just really motivated me to stick to my suiting.

I had rented the jacket once it was available before the Gala, I was sick last week, but ready this week...when the stars align, they ALIGN  😄

Fab/Face: Same Fine, see below 👇🏽

The Face: as part of Capsule Makeup Collection Challenge 2025 "Tailored To You" theme, I have four lip combos that I've selected, each with a liner and 2-3 additional products so that I can have a bespoke combo errvryday.  I got the idea from an IG reel describing a technique Sam Fine did + a lip combo from paintedbyspencer that was similar.  I really liked doing it last week with a combo of Mac's Chestnut+ Film Noir and Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Gloss Bomb Oil Luminizing Lip Oil 'N Gloss Rose Amber .

So for today and Monday, it was DIOR Rouge Dior Contour No-Transfer Lip Liner Pencil in Midnight with Rouge en Diable and Dior Sequin (I wanna say Divine)

Also, 3/4 combos have an engraved item in it.  I Tailored to ME to a tee this week 🙌🏽 shout out to @itsfi for this

 It's rainy, so we wore Converse and then changed into the heels

The Fit: Boss/Hugo Boss.  Shoes are a kitten heel from Old Navy way back when.  A little loose, but they fit and don't kill my feet.  🙌🏽😄  I discovered I don't own a leopard print scarf, so that will be rectified one day.  I have a zebra scarf I cannot find, but this flower one worked well.  And these are the same Chunks clips so smartly worn by @caitbird .The dress, got it at a sample sale, so glad I did.  Immediately saw it and thought of....

 

 

The Fab: Mad men, specifically Joan.  I also wanted that classic flight attendant look, so I added the scarf.  Tights because it's cold 🥶

The face: Same lip combo from above BUT I softened it today with what was leftover from my lip prep ( Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Fenty Treatz Hydrating + Strengthening Lip Oil Kalahari Melon ) so it was more of a soft matte.  I later applied Cherry Amour from Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Chocolate Cherriez 2-Piece Lip Set + Pouch set as it wore down after eating/drinking to pump it up

Also embraced some pastel on the eyes with Danessa Myricks Beauty Mini Pastel Dream Freedom Palette

Tailored to a T, indeed @danielledanielle ❣️ Joan would be proud. Flight attendants would be envious. If / when you get your phone back 🤞🤞, I would not be at all surprised if it was full of messages from airlines asking you to be their muse for updating their flight attendant uniforms, a project they didn't know they needed until seeing your look.

Who am I to enable, but I can't help but think that red suit would fit beautifully as a permanent part of your wardrobe.
