Supporting Trans Folks

Hey friends!

so I’m not transgender, or non-binary, but many of my friends identify as trans or a third gender. I support their identity 100%. And as a fellow member of the lgbt community, I feel obliged to be completely supportive. So how can I be a true ally to trans folks, and be by their side through the entire journey?

Thanks!

I’ll accept makeup and non-makeup related replies, anything works!

Re: Supporting Trans Folks

Also, keep reading and learning whatever you can.  When supporting anyone, it's allyship to also know the foundation of things, so that your friends/loved ones aren't constantly in the position to educate you.  (Not that you shouldn't ask questions, or know everything, it's nice and seems like you do it anyhow @Sam013 )

I'm not a part of the community, but as a WOC allyship and inclusivity is uber important.

Re: Supporting Trans Folks

@Sam013 I can’t speak for everyone, but for me, it’s little things that show someone you respect them. When you ask for their name, ask what pronouns to use if they haven’t indicated and then do your best to address them as they wish. And listening to stories. Everyone has one to tell and they deserve to be heard. I don’t always need my problems solved, sometimes I just need to voice it a listening ear.
