Thank you for your courage and commitment.I waited until I was retired to explore my self. Having never been very attractive, I am pleased that I can explore making myself pretty/beautiful/sexy.And society has changed so that I can feel safe in some public places.(FlatIrons Mall in Westminster CO is very tolerant. And it has a wonderful sephora there.Tori has been very helpful.)Thanks for leading the way for the rest of us.Sissy

Hi @tamiwuff. I have seen 1 class for cancer patients and survivors at my local Sephora since the pandemic hit and shut everything down (and it’s a flagship location in a very busy mall). It has started offering individual lessons that last about 75 minutes as a part of the services they offer, so it might be worth checking out. I also know that you can also book standard makeup services and ask questions as they do your makeover, turning it into a lesson. I have done that before and I loved it!

Hi @EvieSnow. It’s hard coming into this world of beauty and cosmetics and trying to navigate it without any real help. There’s a TON of information out there, someone of it useful, some not so much, and some even toxic. It can get overwhelming trying to sort through it all. There are a bunch of lessons I’ve learned over the past year of getting into makeup. Firstly, makeup is for you. Whatever I think is beautiful is the way to go, what everyone else says doesn’t matter. Secondly, it’s just makeup. If I’m not happy with it, I just wipe it off! Don’t worry about messing up! I have my good days and my bad days with makeup, but I consider those bad days good because I’ve learned that what I tried doesn’t work for me. Thirdly, it takes some practice. I’ve watched so many tutorials but the best way to learn is to sit down and pick up the brush. As for products to try, I can see that you already have some great choices already. How do they make you feel? If you’re happy with them, then it’s just a matter of learning how to use them. I watched a few videos on YouTube. Stef Sanjati, NikkiTutorials, and even Sephora’s bold beauty were trans specific ones that I watched. I branched out to other YouTubers to learn specific things, but it was really overwhelming. The best thing I did for learning how to use makeup properly was to actually go into a store with makeup on and ask for feedback. The associates I spoke with were really supportive and helpful. Eventually, I sat down with a makeup artist for a makeover and she turned it into a lesson to help me recreate the look at home with what I had. If Sephora is a little too public for you, try calling a local makeup studio and see if they have private rooms for lessons. Some do and are willing to accommodate you. At the end of the day, don’t give up. It will take some time and patience, but hopefully you’ll find some peace in all this chaos. ☺️
