2019 Mask of the Week Main Thread & Misc. Info:

To Post:
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas.

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Mask Hacks - Here are a few to get started thanks to our lovely BIC-ers, a big thank you for these fabulous ideas!

Trim off long chin and add to forehead for sheet masks

Squeeze tube lip balms (like Bite) into pans and place in magnetic palette

Layer lip sleeping mask (such as Laneige) over regular balm

Derma plane prior to a peel-off mask to ease the pain of removal

Warm water helps remove clay masks quicker than cold

Lay sheet masks flat prior to use so the serum is more evenly distributed

Remove clay/difficult masks in the shower to keep towel clean and removal easy

Use an HA serum prior to trying a mask with alcohol high on the ingredients list

Use a Makeup Eraser to remove wash-off masks

With a detox mask, apply a thicker layer where pores are

Use a resurfacing exfoliating spray (such as Kate Somerville’s Liquid ExfoliKate) before a detox mask to better clear out your pores

Re-use a large sample jar for a blank sheet mask pellet and fill it with essence/toner

Use a nail clippers to trip a mask if scissors are not on hand

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@ather I usually get them in my eyes 😯

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@lmaster  I’m glad they didn’t get in my eyes!!!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@ather sometimes I feel like those bubble masks take away from the ease of sheet masking -i like to just take it off and go. It sounds like it worked well at evening out your face though!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Kim888  I was hoping it was a sheet mask but I’m glad it wasn’t. It was easy to wash away all the  bubble

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

So I am not in the challenge with this but I wanted to share my thoughts on the PEACE OUT - Microneedling Anti-Wrinkle Retinol Patches, especially since so many reviews seem to be from influenster.

So as instructed I used this twice a week for at least two weeks for at least 6 hours each time. I used it on my forehead as I have fine lines there.

1. Does it Work? In my experience, it is not going to permanently alter fine lines. However, it temporarily does. It's funny, because when I was reading all the influenster posts and people were saying saw results after 1 use I was like that has to be a lie. But when I used it overnight, the next morning I could see the spot where it had been was significantly more plumped and smooth than the area around it. Results for me lasted about 1 day, maybe slightly more. I did not notice longer or better results the additional times I used it, it was about the same each time. These are basically in my mind like one of those vitamin c masks you use when you want a little extra glow for a night out.

2. Use - so it's easy enough to use, adherence is good. it does sting when you put it on, and I could feel sort of stinging for probably 20 minutes after I had laid it down. Adherence was good - did not fall off overnight, but did not hurt to take off either.

3. Cost - so this is here it falls short for me. First of all, considering you need to use 4 to follow their instructions for 2 weeks, and you only get 6 in the box, if you wanted to do more than 1 spot, or do something like smile lines, you need to buy more than 1 box which seems like a pretty big ripoff to me - they could have at least put 8 in so you could treat 2 spots. Additionally, these are fairly small, if you want to treat the sport in between your eyes for example, it's a good size, but as someone who have liked to use them for forehead lines, I'd probably need to use  like 4 of these for 1 treatment so I wish they had additional size options.

Would I use these again? Maybe before a special event if I wanted my forehead to look extra smooth - but at the price point, and considering the results are temporary, it's a lot of money to invest.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Kim888  I love your honest and informative review. Thanks!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Kim888 yes! We are in sync here with these! Where did you use them? I had good luck the first week with them, then the second week,,I went to apply one and it would not stick down! I did actually lose one in my sleep too! For the price,, heck no, now if I didn't have the trouble that second week, my opinion would be different, but spending 28$ for six patches, no thank you,,, I have way better results with NUFACE - Fix Line Smoothing Serum

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@lmaster thanks for the suggestion I will check that out! If I sort the reviews for the patches from lowest I see a lot of other people commenting adherence as well! I wonder if it's a batch issue, because I slapped mine on over serum and it still stayed. I used it in the middle of my forehead because that's where I have some fine lines now I'm not very happy with

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Kim888 yeah I'm not trying to gamble with whether or not it will stay adhered 😣

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Thanks for the great insight and review, @Kim888.  I've been wondering how well this was working out for people because it honestly SOUNDS too good to be true.  It's nice to know the conditions under which you'd purchase it again as well--I understand how something like this could be nice as "special occasion" prep but I probably honestly wouldn't bother.  Glad that you shared your thoughts!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Thanks for the review @Kim888! That's super good insight to have

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Kim888  Thanks for the awesome review!! It’s nice to hear an honest opinion!!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I love this for a special event, @Kim888. I always use my Bakuchiol the night before when I want my skin to look extra-plumped, and this sounds like it might work well in tandem with the Peace Out.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Kim888  What a great review! Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Sounds like a nice product, but I agree, they definitely should include more for the price!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I've been very curious about these, so really appreciate the review @Kim888!  I may pick up a pack during the next sale to hold onto for a special occasion.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review @Kim888. The format is great; very helpful feedback on the product. 😃

2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

A week behind because I over-exfoliated right before NYE and my skin has been revolting. For Week 1, I need to finish off this Biorace Pore Tightening mask. I got it in a FFF thing I think. It's okay, and it definitely immediately shrinks pores but I don't find that the effect lasts long enough. It's a bit harsh and can sting a bit if you accidentally use an acid before. For Week 2, which I am sure has been posted a lot, is the Farmacy Honey Potion mask. Honey is delicious and "B"ees make honey, lol. Because of the over-exfoliation I've been using a lot of moisturizing products more than usual. I do like the warming sensation of this. I've never had a negative reaction or anything, but that's just my experience, YMMV. It's fairly moisturizing, but not like to the same level as an overnight moisture mask, more like inspires my skin, if that makes sense. I can't decide if I like this or the PTR Hungarian Water warming mask more. I'm really looking forward to the year! FARMACY - Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hydration Mask

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I'm jealous of the warming masks! It is way too hot for me to think about them but it sounds delightful @haleyvvvv! Glad to hear you have two favorites - sometimes it is nice to rotate.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

It just starting snowing here for the first time this season, so it was the perfect time to use, lol! The warming doesn't last very long though for either product, in my opinion, so it could definitely be used all year round, @ShortErica.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@haleyvvvv thanks for reminding me about this one!  I've never tried it before but I know I have a mini in my stash that I was purposely saving for a chilly winter night since it's supposed to be warming.  I should pull it out and try it...

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Hope you enjoy @CookieGirl1!!
