2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! We have outgrown the original thread started by the wonderful @Aaliaa and are beginning another masking journey. Many thanks to her and excited you are here. *Half-year update will be posted at the end of the month* To post:

Posting: Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Friday I tried the Lapcos Milk moisture mask gifted to me by the lovely @eshoe .

This mask is soaked in serum. So much it dripped when I was putting it on. When I took it off, my face just had so much serum on it I had to tissue it off. My face definitely felt moisturized but just too much serum, not sure I would want to use this one again, unless I was so dry I needed that much help.

Tried the Yadah Aloe for the Saturday meet up.

This mask had a nice refreshing scent and the fit was not bad. Had a lot of serum but the philtrum area dried on me a little. Must be me. Either way it was an overall soothing mask. I was out in the sun earlier that day and wanted to soothe my skin. This is a nice filler mask to keep in the stash. It did stay slightly tacky on my skin so a little moisturizer to help with that and all was good.

For the PTR meet up, on Sunday morning I tried the Irish Moor, the 24K gold mask and the Skyn eye mask (I've used these before and love them). And Sunday evening, I tried the Cucumber mask.

I multi-masked and used the mud mask on my T-Zone and U-Zone and used the 24K gold mask everywhere else. I really enjoyed the Irish Moor mud mask. This one didn't dry down hard and it was easy to wash off. Left my face feeling clean. The 24K gold mask was very pretty. I don't know if my face felt firmer but I think it gave it a little brightness. I would have to use it more to see if there are any real results with it. So I look forward to using the rest of the sample. The cucumber mask was nice and refreshing on my face. It did feel a little hydrated but I still felt the need to apply moisturizer. I think I want to try this cool and as an overnight mask.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@GalPalVal17 I found the Yadah masks dried in the nose and philtrum area first while the outer edges still had serum but was able to wear them 30 minutes before the dryness was to the point I wanted to take it off. How long did you wear yours? I left my PTR at home so after vacation I must dig in! Nice masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@GalPalVal17  thanks for your reviews! I think I'll start to use my PTR masks more since I already know I like the Irish Moor mud mask.

Maybe the 24k gold mask could be effective if we use it constantly??

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sounds like a pretty good round of masking, @GalPalVal17!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

IMG_8364.JPGLast night’s late night masking consisted of 2 of the masks from the PTR set I received as a gratis. One is a favorite of mine and the other is one that has been ‘meh’ for me in the past. PETER THOMAS ROTH - Pumpkin Enzyme Mask Enzymatic Dermal Resurfacer is pumpkin pie in a tube (or jar if you have the FS), but without the calories. 😊 It sloughs away dead skin and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth and looking clean and refreshed. This has been one of my favorites and continues to be so. PETER THOMAS ROTH - Cucumber Gel Mask Extreme Detoxifying Hydrator, on the other hand, is one I find to be just ‘meh’ – very much in the “it’s not you, it’s me” category. It’s not a bad mask; just doesn’t really standout for me. I decided to use it as an overnight mask as @PrettyPaint had used hers and I still find it ‘meh’ but it seems like my skin likes it better as an overnight mask and it does seem like it works better in the warmer months. I’ll try to remember to reach for it again when we’re in a heat wave and see how it fares under those conditions – I can see its cooling and hydrating effects working well coming out of the fridge when it gets really warm this summer.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks for your PTR thoughts @itsfi. Even meh sounds okay for certain times. What’s your 2nd favorite? 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks for the great reviews @itsfi . I'm glad to hear the Pumpkin mask worked great and I need to try it next. I also like the Irish moor mud mask to unclog my pores.

The cucumber gel mask is good for after sun treatment. I usually store it in my fridge and this could nicely calm the redness down.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

We love to hear about how you're enjoying & mixing and masking! Definitely good to try Cucumber as an overnight mask for an extra bit of hydration.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thank you so very much for this amazing gratis @peterthomasroth! 🤩 I’ve given this set before as gifts and received one as well. I packed them for my work trips this week so they’ll be put to good use! Thank you again for your generosity! 💗💕

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

These two are my favorites of the set, @itsfi but I definitely still need to try @PrettyPaint 's idea of using the cucumber as a sleeping mask. Hopefully that one will work a little better for you later in the summer.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@quspork  Can't wait to hear what you think about using it as a sleeping mask. I actually hadn't even thought about using it as a sleeping mask until @Loretta55 mentioned it. I don't think the little tube says anything about keeping it on overnight, but the description on the sephora website does mention to leave it on overnight for intensive treatment. My skin happens to like aloe quite a bit, so I think that's why I've had good luck with this one.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks for the great review @itsfi. I have to say that my favorites from the set are definitely the pumpkin and irish mud as well! They have the most noticeable results for me.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi  of all the masks in the set, the pumpkin one seems to be the fave. I am looking forward to trying this one out.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@GalPalVal17, the pumpkin and Irish moor mud masks are my favorites from the set. I’ll be interested in hearing your thoughts on the pumpkin mask.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Definitely agree with your masking experience @itsfi! Even with my skin sensitivity, I still loved the effects of the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask. My skin felt so velvety smooth!!! I would probably only use it ever few months though because I don't think my skin could take that every week. The Cucumber Mask was good to bring some much needed hydration back to my skin, but I wouldn't go buy the full size mask.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@sephoraaddict918, I definitely like using a hydrating mask following an exfoliating mask like the pumpkin one but like you, the PTR cucumber mask is not one I’d run out to buy to perform that function. Do you have a go to hydrating mask you like?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

My current go-to hydrating wash off masks are the MEMEBOX Cake My Day and DEARPACKER Black Tea and Black Rose Mask, @itsfi. I slather on a thick layer, let it sit for 20 minutes, then massage the product into my face. Then, I top it off with a hydrating sheet mask because my dry skin can never get enough moisture. The sheet masks from Mamonde, TONYMOLY Master Lab, and DearPacker are some current faves They are affordable and have sooooooo much serum!!!!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oooh good to know about the Dearpacker @sephoraaddict918, I’ve been eyeing that one for quite awhile now. I didn’t know a mini set existed now I will have to seek that out!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh, that’s good to know @sephoraaddict918. I have a set of mini DearPacker wash off masks, including the black tea and black rose mask you mentioned. I’ve wanted to give that one a try and am even more excited to now. 😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

great masking @itsfi and I agree this is a fab combo! Love an exfoliating mask followed by something calmer!I agree on both masks as well ! I've always loved the pumpkin one and have the full size but I've tried the cucumber a few times and I never felt motivated to buy
