Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):

Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.  

Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.

The product id is the number given to the item in the URL.  So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number.  If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta. 

It's not a search, but the direct url to the page. 

Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar.  It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204  Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.

My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:

(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward.  E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward.  Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase.  Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.

Update on ULTA fiasco (this is their latest response):

"We sincerely apologize for the confusion. However, we have already honored the 20% off on order H543747229 that was stated in the notes. Per policy, Guests only receive one 20% off coupon per account. We will not be honoring the expired 20% off for a second order. You have the option of refusing delivery and the order will be shipped back to us and you will receive a full refund. You may also return the order in store as well as this is the quickest way to be refunded."

Sooooo...they cant do more than one 20% percent off but they'll take an additional 20% off of an order that already has a 20% applied? (with points used so it doesn't quite work out the same way) At this point it's the principle of the matter.

I’m sorry. That’s ridiculous since CS already said they would. There is a lot of inconsistency with the 20% off codes. Some people get two and some can use the same one several times online. Ugh. I hope they fix this for you.

I love me some Ulta but they're hot mess! They need to take a page from Sephora's VIB sales playbook and email Diamond/Platinum customers a 20% off generic reusable code and all other Ultamate members 15% off and call it a day.  That would minimize all the nonsense, misinformation and confusion that come with their sales. You never hear about all this madness during Sephora's sales - they're straightforward, consistent and firm regarding the parameters of their sales.

I ended up signing up for twitter maybe I can get a second opinion. This is the latest reply and it sounds pretty final.

Thank you for your response. However, there is no way to reverse the adjustment for order H543747229. As stated, you already applied one 20% off coupon and the coupon is one per Guest. The notes stated that the coupon would be honored for order H543747229. The coupon was extended for Guests who did not have a 20% off coupon already applied to an order. We are unable to honor the 20% off for order H605153655."

@Maria88 - I experienced a similar situation. I only received one coupon this time around & called for a 2nd when I couldn't find one here. Then wasn't able to use it. Placed an order on Monday, called CS & was told that you only get one code. I said, but CS gave me this (unused) code. Didn't seem to matter. Was gonna email but it seems like it won't make a difference. Doesn't seem consistent since I'm sure there are ppl who placed multiple orders w/multiple different codes. 🤷🏽‍♀️

And that is one reason why I was iffy on placing another order with that original code that they resent me-it worked a second time before it expired, but I feared they might say it had already been used. I emailed CS asking for another code and never heard back. It doesn't seem like it would have been worth the frustration, glad I passed this time!

Sooooo.... not feeling good about how the honoring of the 20% coupon is working out so far for me.

When I first contacted CS on Sunday I explained I did use the 20% coupon but was unable to add more products to the cart because the system was glitching so I just checked out with what I had preloaded. When I heard ULTA was extending the discount I asked if there was anything that could be done to honor the 20% as I originally meant to purchase more items but was not able to due to the website having issues. She said to go on ahead and place another order with the additional items I wanted to get and then contact customer service so I could get a 20% adjustment: basically extend the 20% offer since I would have purchased these additional items with my initial order. Thus I placed an additional order.

So I contacted CS once the order shipped and they refunded some points and $11.70 (which is my out of pocket total) on the first order, saying they cant do refunds on the second. I wrote them back fully explaining my initial convo with the CS rep and now I am waiting for a response.

@Maria88@I am a bit confused...so you used the 20% off order 1, and then they refunded your amount paid on order 1, $11.**. So what should your discount on order 2 have added up to? If its $11.** or less they already gave it to you with order 1,right? So they only owe you the difference of what the discount should have been on order 2- $11.**. Am I understanding this correctly? What was 20%  off order 2

@Christinaco They refunded 20% on order 1, which yes I had used the 20% coupon on already. The thing is I used mostly points for the purchase so it wouldn't equal the correct amount (since points are tiered). Plus I don't need an additional 20% on this one. Order 2 was bigger and paid with credit card, no discount: it would make sense for them to refund me on this one. It would have been $40-something refunded on order 2.

@Maria88@Oh yeah, that's a big difference. I'd be so mad, I can't believe they're doing this to everyone! They're normally super accommodating, Im sorry they did that to you 😞

I was livid! Yes the money part hurts but it's just the whole miscommunication and bringing up policy that obviously isn't too much of a policy if it's not followed any other time. So I reached out to them via twitter and they had someone from CS look at it. They contacted me pretty quick apologizing and saying they're going to issue a refund. So it seems promising but I'll wait until I actually see it.

Also watch for your sales tax because I’ve read a lot about Ulta never refunding sales tax on their returns/refunds @Maria88

@Indy701 No.....I might have to get a twitter just for that. The e-mail is making me very angry. Basically they cant/wont honor what I was told because the notes the rep took (I gave them a case number) was different from what she actually told me.

@Maria88 I have a Twitter only to get customer service to respond. So many companies seem to respond quickly via twitter compared to email. I don’t like twitter but it saves time. Thats annoying and not your fault if they didnt take accurate notes. For the sake of the relationship, they should honor it. Their system failure and I regularly get codes that I can use more than once. Good luck. Hopefully they come through
