Let's keep this thread on topic!
Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):
Item #1 - $53.50
Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)
* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x
Total Spent - $162
Base Points Earned - 162
Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)
5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)
5x Item/Brand Earned - 434
Total Points Earned - 1285
Links are not allowed. In lieu of links, please read this:
Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.
Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.
The product id is the number given to the item in the URL. So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number. If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.
It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.
Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar. It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204 Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.
My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:
(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward. E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward. Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase. Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.
| Multiplier | 1 | 1.25 | 1.5 | 2 | 2.25 | 2.5 | 3 | 3.25 | 3.5 | 4 | 4.25 | 4.5 | 5 | 7.25 | 7.5 | 8 | 8.25 | 8.5 | 9 | 9.25 | 9.5 | 10 | 10.25 | 10.5 |

Yass! The Pacman individual pieces are Buy 1 get 1 50% off @RGbrown 🙂
@Lazybeautybeast I missed them as well 😞 Hope they come back in stock soon!
I didn’t get the bonus points offer, but did get a coupon for 10 off 50. Expires the 13th. Would have liked the points more as I am 200 away from another 2000.
@dapt529I just came to say the same thing! (and I'm also 200 away!) and now I wish I had ordered yesterday instead...but it's confusing when they say 'check back on friday', and then they have something on thursday! urghhh...what's a girl to do? lol.
All sorts of newness tonight!
New gwp (pimprod2007435), new multiplier, new bonus points offer, and a new collab that looks like it might have potential! I don't see any mention of anything for Summer Fridays yet.
I really hate that Ulta's makeup brand is so terrible because otherwise I'd be all over this collection.
ARGHHHHHHH...the Bonus Points offer is one time use this go'round. Ulta did not figure out what makes me tick after all...woulda given them all my money today, but I guess I get to keep it now 😕
the main page still says 'check back every friday for a treat', so I think that IS the gift (sadly bc I'm not too interested).
@RGbrown No bonus points offer for me this time, I think this is a first.
Oh no 😥
Meanwhile, Ulta certainly figured out my number...7x definitely gets my motor running 😂
@RGbrown I have mixed feelings about the Frida Kahlo line. I’m rarely convinced that companies using her image are truly “celebrating her legacy” when they focus on her appearance, rather than dig deeper into who she was and all she stood so loud-and-proudly for. I read Ulta’s product description for all those Kahlo items and honestly, it sounds to me like trite ad copy meant to tie her to a bunch of products that might as well be tied to someone else. I mean, face primer? 🙄 C’mon Ulta.
I could launch a lengthy rant about this but maybe I’ll do that in the pet peeves thread instead. I just hope folks take time to learn all about Frida Kahlo—more than the poem inside Ulta’s eyeshadow palette box thingy says—instead of use her as a pop icon. She was so much more than her appearance. Hell, even if one focuses on her appearance, there are layers of symbolism there beyond “her unique sense of style” and “never apologize for who you are.” Sigh.
Okay, grumpiness over. 😄 The Daisy bag is cute. Gonna make sure a friend knows about the 5x hair jumbos points since she’s an avid B&B user.
I totally get it; it's anything to make a buck. But I think in the end, I'd rather have curious kids (and grownups alike...I don't know nearly as much as I should about her) googling Frida and perhaps learning a little something about art and history than just following the latest flash in the pan YouTuber that snagged a collab.
(And I don't mean to belittle YouTubers completely...it's a huge industry and it takes a lot to really be successful at it. But at this point, I don't see many of them being "historical"; pop culture moves quickly, and many are forgotten before their collab even sells out.)
@StTropezBarbie @RGbrown The paint/face primer is a stretch, but plausible. (I stretched, stapled, and “primed” many a canvas in my day.) Still feels like a marketing manager worked hard to tie this particular product to Frida Kahlo. 😂 And don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the sentiment of celebrating her legacy. I just think there are better ways to do that, maybe even through beauty products.
Frida Kahlo was more than an artist. She was a political activist. She was famously anti-capitalist, driven partly by her experience in the US. She was a bisexual feminist who wore indigenous clothing to rep matriarchal Mexican culture. She had chronic physical pain her whole life after her accident; you can see her pain in her self portraits. She was a communist. And sure, she never apologized for who she was and what she stood for—but simply slapping her image on a bunch of beauty products may not encourage people to research the in-depth who and what of her.
Or maybe I’m wrong and folks will learn lots about Kahlo. That’d be fabulous! If that happens, maybe they’ll understand why commercializing her image this way kinda goes against some of her ideals. A lot of people (like me) have this inner conflict whenever Kahlo is used as a marketing prop. But hey, at least the lipstick shades are pretty. 🤷♀️
A primer simply is a prep coating to get paint to adhere to its surface, whether its a canvas, your bedroom wall, or your face. But that's not the point. Your larger point about Frida not wanting to be commercialized, I agree. Unfortunately, her likeness being used like this was done b/c someone in her family sold the rights to her image. Thank you for describing more about this dynamic woman for those who aren't familiar. I suggest the movie "Frida", altho I hate the producer. But I think Salma Hayek did a great job. 🙂
@itscarin I got so annoyed at Ulta today. I purchased the Elcie Concealer during the 5x multiplier but I ended up picking up the wrong shade (why is the Light Medium shade "fair light with neutral undertones"? makes no sense- the Medium shade is "light with neutral undertones" wut) and when I went in store to return it, I was hoping I could do an exchange and just have them order the right shade for me since it's an online only product. Sadly, they can't do that and now I missed out on all those bonus points. Bummed in a first-world-beauty-junkie problems way.
