March has made its way to us, and to celebrate, we’re breaking out the beauty brackets for our second annual Makeup Madness Challenge in the BIC! For the next few weeks, eight popular makeup categories will go head-to-head in a showdown to snag the title of 2022 Community Champion makeup category. It’s up to YOU to vote on the winner … and share some tried-and-true beauty recs along the way (because why not?!). 😉
We kicked off round 1 with a matchup that sparked serious passion last year: lipstick vs. mascara. 🔥 Mascara ended up taking the crown in 2021, but who knows what will happen this year… especially since we’ll be adding new makeup categories to the mix in future rounds. 😏 Stay tuned!
TO VOTE, hit the reply button below and tag a product you love that represents the category you’re voting for. For example, the lovely lipstick lover @WinglessOne might reply with “Lipstick! PAT McGRATH LABS MatteTrance™ Lipstick” 🥰💄
Let the games begin! Each new round of voting starts Fridays, and ends the following Thursday at 2pm PT:
Click the “Reply” button below and vote for your favorite product (lipstick or foundation!), use the “#” sign to tag a specific one you love, then check back for the results and the next round of voting!
UPDATE 4/22/21: Thank you to everyone who participated in Makeup Madness 2022! This year's champion is 💄lipstick💋 - no pouting for our fellow lip lovers! Here were Community members' top-tagged lipsticks from your votes throughout the challenge:
We're also showing love to the most-tagged products in all the Makeup Madness categories this year - check them out here:
Mascara for sure @Ispend2much6 lol! While I will own up to having a ridiculous lipstick collection, the tinted balms and balmy lip glosses are my jam in that department. Mascara always feels more 'complete' to a look for me. I'll get over the disappointment of the loss.... just gonna need to seek out a new lipstick for the sale now I guess lol
@missjeanie. That kind of reasoning sounds reasonable to me!
I'm going to go with powder! Powder just keeps the makeup in place. I've skipped out on setting spray because I was rushing but that beat stayed on!! My all time favorite powder has to be the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder Translucent and the MAC Cosmetics Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Face Powder. I want to try the HUDA BEAUTY Easy Bake Loose Baking & Setting Powder because it looks sooooo good when I've seen it!!
I vote for primer even though I love powder as long as I remember (sigh). We have many great primers available at Sephora
Tatcha The Liquid Silk Canvas: Featherweight Protective Primer 1.0 oz / 30 mL
Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Face Primer Blur Primer Gold
GUERLAIN L'Or 24K Gold Radiance Primer
Absolutely setting powder!!! @TeamBIC I have so many favorites though ughhhh Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder HUDA BEAUTY Easy Bake Loose Baking & Setting Powder Pound Cake Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Mini Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder Lavender
Ok, this is another easy answer for me. I have to go with SETTING POWDER. I have dry skin but my skincare routine covers all my needs. I use a sunscreen as my primer with great results and then a luminous foundation that I tone down on my t-zone with setting powder. I am trying to finish my MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Microfinishing Loose Powder Standard Size Translucent - 0.29 oz/ 8.5 g to get the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder which has been in my wish list for years (I just can’t get to finish the HD setting powder, it is eternal! 😅) I also have used and loved Hourglass Veil™ Translucent Setting Powder - Talc Free Translucent
@Saradestin Those are excellent products!
Thank you @Ispend2much6 ! I am anxious to try Charlotte’s
@TeamBIC I’m with @LCResz on this one: I’d vote for setting spray if it was on the list. Since it isn’t, I’ll go with the LAWLESS Mini Seal The Deal Loose Setting Powder Classic Translucent that I use. I’m interested in trying the Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Blot & Glow Powder Puff Refill 0.21 oz/ 6 g that comes pre-filled though!
Ok, I’m ready to rejoin the BIC society after that tragic outcome of week 1!
Definitely going with Primer in this matchup. I have dry skin and am all about that glow life, so primers are a must.
My favorite is still the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid ! It gives me the perfect base every single time.
This is another favorite I discovered through the Sephoria Swag Bags 😍 Any Sephoria news to report @TeamBIC @EventsAtSephora ? 👀
I am going to go with primer. Because the one I use is a 2 in 1. LAWLESS Set The Stage Hydrating Primer Serum 1.7 oz/ 50 mL has been my go to lately. Helping me achieve a great glowy look!!
@ather Glowy is my love language! This sounds like a great primer!
I beleive that all great make up looks start with a good base. The winner for me, hands down is Primer!!
It is hard for me to pick a favourite as I am still shopping my stash. I have enjoyed Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Pore Diffusing Primer - Always an Optimist Collection 0.94 oz/ 28 mL and Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen Invisible Broad Spectrum SPF 40 PA +++ 2.5 oz / 73.9 mL
@Mellmars1185 Agreed! It’s all about the base 🙌
@Mellmars1185 I agree!!
As someone with super dry skin I have to go with primer - specifically a hydrating primer. I just need that extra boost of hydration along with my moisturizer/hydrating setting spray/hydrating toner (my skin is a hot mess when it comes to putting on foundation and concealer).
with that said I'm in the hunt for a new primer. I've been using Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Primer - Hydrating 1.7 oz/ 50 mL but I think I need to bite the bullet and actually pick up the La Mer The Hydrating Illuminator Highlighter and Primer 1.4 oz/ 41 mL this time around during the spring sale. I have (quite a few 😬) samples of GUERLAIN L'Or 24K Gold Radiance Primer that I know some people with dry skin like. I just need to get it in gear and try something new. Having to actually go out yesterday with a half full face of makeup to see how dry my skin was and how badly my makeup had worn, especially where I had put concealer, was not cute.
@niki172 @SportyGirly125 y’all have me intrigued by this La Mer The Hydrating Illuminator Highlighter and Primer 1.4 oz/ 41 mL of which you speak! I’m running low on my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid so this may be the time to try something new.
@Mcakes Wow you haven’t tried this either? I would go to a counter and maybe ask for a sample.
@niki172 I definitely agree. Super dry sensitive skin is way better with primer.
@niki172 @Have you tried Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Face Primer Blur Primer Gold ? I feel it’s similar to Guerlain but I like the YSL one better. Also yes to La Mer The Hydrating Illuminator Highlighter and Primer 1.4 oz/ 41 mL I’m picking up another tube during the sale.
