Re: THE PARTY THREAD

Yay!   Congratulations to your daughter!  @fatimamummy

I second the suggestions of the Rick Riordan books, especially the Percy Jackson series - soooooo good!  He is from my city (but doesn't live here any more 😞 ), so my kids even attended a few of his readings over the years and got all their books autographed! <3.

Also, what about the Eragon series if she likes dragons or the Narnia series if she likes fantasy???  And what do you think about the Hunger Games?  My daughter is a little older than yours, but I think she read that series in the 6th grade (I read it first, though, because there is violence).

Re: THE PARTY THREAD

Thanks @Tamara76 I am going to look into these series. I bet your kids felt lucky to repeatedly meet their favourite author!

Re: THE PARTY THREAD

Big congrats to your daughter, @fatimamummy! She sounds like a smart cookie! You must be very proud. 🙂

Here are some series suggestions (some I've read & others I've heard good things about):

The Spiderwick Chronicles by Holly Black & Tony DiTerlizzi

Magisterium Series by Holly Black & Cassandra Clare

Fairyland Series by Catherynne M. Valente

The Mysterious Benedict Society Series by Trenton Lee Stewart

Book of Ember Series by Jeanne DuPrau

Underland Chronicles Series by Suzanne Collins

I'd also check out Rick Riordan's books. I've only read his Percy Jackson books, but I bet his other series are just as great.

These ones are not a series, but I remember really loving these books when I was your daughter's age:

The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine

Running Out of Time by Margaret Peterson Haddix

The Music of Dolphins by Karen Hesse

Julie of the Wolves by Jean Craighead George

I hope this helps!

Re: THE PARTY THREAD

Wonderful! Thank you @lmi82 These are all going in Mommy's dairy so I have a good backup list for future reads as well!

Re: THE PARTY THREAD

@fatimamummy What about the A Wrinkle In Time Quad By Madeline L'Engle? I LOVED those at her age and they are sci-fi classics!!!!!

Re: THE PARTY THREAD

@mermadelove Yes!!!!!  This is an awesome series!!!! ❤️

Re: THE PARTY THREAD

@Tamara76 I read it when I was 12-- and then again in my 20's! Love it!

Re: THE PARTY THREAD

@mermadelove Interestingly she was looking for books at indigo website and just showed me this series a few minutes ago so it is on the list . Thank you!

Re: THE PARTY THREAD

@fatimamummy IT's truly a wonderful, groundbreaking series. MAin character is a girl!

Re: THE PARTY THREAD

WOW!  @fatimamummy congrats to your beautiful daughter! You must be so proud of her Smiley Happy  Here are two series' a coworker just got her kids who love fiction:

Re: THE PARTY THREAD

Ohhhhh!  Good suggestions, @ZombieMetroAnt!  My son liked the Charlie Bone series (my daughter, not so much).

@fatimamummy Has your daughter read the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series yet?  That's always a fun one series for boys and girls!   Other fun, light reads are The Babysitter's Club or Dork Diaries.

My son also liked the Series of Unfortunate Events books (I liked those a lot!) and Artemis Fowl series.

I have to admit, I LOVE the YA genre now and I may have picked up a book or two for myself at my daughter's school book fairs - lol!  Oddly enough, I think I graduated from Sweet Valley High books to Steven King in 6th or 7th grade - Maybe not the best choice, but my parents encouraged reading of all kinds, as long as it wasn't too terribly extreme.

Re: THE PARTY THREAD

Thank you @ZombieMetroAnt Im actually really proud of her and I want her to know it 🙂

These series sound really interesting, a book worm in me want to read them myself 😁

Re: THE PARTY THREAD

How about the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan?  My kids loved it. Greek mythology and fiction! @fatimamummy

Re: THE PARTY THREAD

I second the Percy Jackson suggestion! I loved that series.

Re: THE PARTY THREAD

Thank you @jozkid Wonderful suggestion! I'm going to note down all the suggestions I get and will show her at night. Given how keen she is about books, she may end up getting them all over time.

Re: THE PARTY THREAD

How exciting, @fatimamummy! Congratulations to her for all her hard work! I don't have any good book recommendations (mom to a 6 yr old boy).

Re: THE PARTY THREAD

Thank you @SheWhoSkis ! Your boy will grow sooner than you can imagine. Kids grow like weeds 😊

Re: THE PARTY THREAD

@fatimamummy  yay! Congrats to your daughter! Sorry I can't provide any suggestions though.
