Welcome to Year 7 of our Pan It! Challenge ElleElleG_0-1704168084184.gif

The "Rules"

To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections.  For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.

Getting Started (please share the following)

  • Which item(s) you would like to work on
  • How long you will work on said item
  • Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
  • Starting photo of item

Please Use This Thread To...

  • share what item(s) you are working on,
  • provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
  • ask questions,
  • encourage others,
  • motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)

Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:

Spoiler
  • Take photos!!  When you think you aren’t making a dent in anything look back at those photos, I’m certain you’ll see some changes 😃 *this is the number one recommendation for everyone, regardless of how long you’ve been panning! Those photos add up and can help you realize progress you might otherwise overlook.
  • If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
  • Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
  • Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades you’re not fond of).
  • Have shadows with a ton of fall out?  Use water
  • Watching the progress of others’ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs.  We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
  • Don’t restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.  It’s more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
  • Makeup should be fun….if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!  Do not force yourself to use up something you don’t like.  Move on to something else!  (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)

Ideas to Help You Pan Those Items:

Spoiler
  • Roll the dice: number your items and use a random number generator to pick what you will use each (day/week/month/etc.)
  • Layer/Mask: items you are less fond of under things you like
  • Pan a Look: at the beginning of the week pick a look that you can wear everyday
  • Recreate: a look worn by a fellow BICer, celebrity, etc.
  • Spice up an "everyday" look by adding subtle pops of color (in the crease or on the lower lash line, mix lip products to make shades wearable, etc.)

Are those Hudas full size ones @lmaster? Either way, that's such a great job using them up!

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Yes they are!! I'm absolutely crazy for the formula, but the last time I repurchased it, it had an off putting scent so I'm scared to reorder, I Guess I could always return it @AznAngelLiz thank you lovely

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

May 2024 Pan Check-In: Hard to believe we are almost halfway through 2024. There are some products that I need to turn more attention to, but overall, May was a great month for working towards my panning goals.

Monthly Summary:  Last month, I made a plan to spend more time in May focusing on the body care products in the Pan It! Challenge. I was able to keep to that plan and it paid dividends! 💖

May All Stars: Two (2) items completed and another that hit pan and looks like it's something I might be able to use up fully by next month or the month after that depending on how often I reach for it. I'm motivated now to reach for it often. 😅

Next Month's Focus: The cuticle oil was probably used twice this month. Not good. 😔  That will be a product I focus on using in June, along with the Olehenriksen eye cream, and the Westman Atelier lip palette.

5.2024 Pan - WA.jpg
Making progress on that light dusty rose shade (second from bottom); I'm hoping to finish that in the next couple of months. 🤞

5.2024 Pan - ND Biba.jpg
The shade: prairie (middle) is plugging along. Slowly, and hopefully surely we shall see pan, even a hint of it, on that shade. I have to remind myself that these Natasha Denona eyeshadows pack in a lot of product so it takes a while to hit pan. The dent is more noticeable and that makes me more comfortable.

More product is being worked through on the shimmery shades as well - shine (left) and rustic (right). Both the shimmery shades are feeling a lot more crumbly when I dip my brush into them so some of the progress is just from a lot of product being picked up (and then tapped off) - that's okay though, we'll be on 4.5 months in June so I'm taking what I get when it come to trying to finish up as much as I can with the Natasha Denona Biba Eyeshadow Palette

5.2024 Pan - Misc.jpg
A mix of progress to report with this group -
  • Olehenriksen eye primer is moving along at a steady clip
  • No movement on the cuticle oil because I only used it a couple of times this month. Must do better, Fi!
  • There was a big jump in usage for both the Oribe Nourishing Oil and the Ceremonia detangling mist. I'm planning to use these exclusively until they are finished which hopefully will be a couple of months from now.

5.2024 Pan - Fable & Mane.jpg

Don't be fooled by the photo - yes, there's no more product left but I didn't actually use up all the Fable & Mane Pre-Treatment Hair Oil. I must have knocked it over one day because by the time I got home the other night, the open bottle was lying atop my bath rug and the bath rug was soaked in it. 🙁 I'm just glad the glass didn't shatter. It was a struggle to get the hair oil to work so no more struggles now, I guess? I feel bad for wasting product, but there it is.

5.2024 Pan - Body Care.jpg

And finally, the exciting panning news of the month! 🎉

  • I've hit pan on the 54 Thrones body butter - woohoo!!! 🙌
  • All done with the Phlur Vanilla Skin and hanni water balm. Yaaaay!!! 😍 I liked the Phlur but not enough to repurchase. On the other hand, I've already started on a new bottle of the hanni, but the second bottle won't be part of the pan it! challenge. I'll bring in another product.
