Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Welcome to Year 7 of our Pan It! Challenge ElleElleG_0-1704168084184.gif

ElleElleG_9-1704168647118.jpeg

The "Rules"

To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections.  For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.

Getting Started (please share the following)

  • Which item(s) you would like to work on
  • How long you will work on said item
  • Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
  • Starting photo of item

Please Use This Thread To...

  • share what item(s) you are working on,
  • provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
  • ask questions,
  • encourage others,
  • motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)

Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:

Spoiler
  • Take photos!!  When you think you aren’t making a dent in anything look back at those photos, I’m certain you’ll see some changes 😃 *this is the number one recommendation for everyone, regardless of how long you’ve been panning! Those photos add up and can help you realize progress you might otherwise overlook.
  • If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
  • Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
  • Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades you’re not fond of).
  • Have shadows with a ton of fall out?  Use water
  • Watching the progress of others’ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs.  We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
  • Don’t restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.  It’s more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
  • Makeup should be fun….if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!  Do not force yourself to use up something you don’t like.  Move on to something else!  (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)

Ideas to Help You Pan Those Items:

Spoiler
  • Roll the dice: number your items and use a random number generator to pick what you will use each (day/week/month/etc.)
  • Layer/Mask: items you are less fond of under things you like
  • Pan a Look: at the beginning of the week pick a look that you can wear everyday
  • Recreate: a look worn by a fellow BICer, celebrity, etc.
  • Spice up an "everyday" look by adding subtle pops of color (in the crease or on the lower lash line, mix lip products to make shades wearable, etc.)

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@itsfi I'll be breaking it out this month I think!  Someone made way too many purchases at some point and needed to finish off some open bottles to keep things a bit less overwhelming.  This person will likely not learn a lesson here, and be doing panning projects for life to get through open products lol.

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Lol @missjeanie. This person should not be so hard on herself/himself/themselves. These things happen - with some frequency around here it seems. 😆 Just have to reset. Working on panning projects for life isn’t that bad a thing. There’s good company on the Pan It! - 2024 Challenge thread. 😉

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@itsfi I think I'm  she's pretty adjusted to it at this point.  lol

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

As you she should be, @missjeanie! lol

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

I would try @missjeanie I've seen many folks talking about the EADEM Milk Marvel Dark Spot Serum with Niacinamide and Vitamin C 1 oz/ 30 mL being like HG and I decided to pick up a sample size set because I feel like all the popular items are kind of a miss for me! But now I'm kinda sad I didn't get the full size LOL

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@jaaayp, wow, amazing results!! 100% understand wanting to work through what you have. You like the Eadem moisturizer too? That and the Eadem serm 💗 will be ready for you come fall!

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

I do like the EADEM Cloud Cushion Plush Moisturizer with Ceramides + Peptides ! It feels oddly like the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid , doesn't it @itsfi ??? 🤔🤔🤔 I think I go through the cream a lot faster than the serum (my winter skin is so dry 🫠)

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@jaaayp, I've never tried the CT moisturizer, but the name of the Eadem moisturizer is pretty accurate - it does have a cushiony feel, of sorts, to it. Yeah, this winter has been colder than past ones (not that our California winters are that cold compare to most other places). Have you tried a face oil for the dryness?

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Yesss. I've been using Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Firming Oil 1.01 oz / 30 mL pretty religiously this winter and the Beekman got milk face oil has been good to me (I reeeeally like this Beekman oil) been also using LANEIGE Cica Sleeping Mask because the dryness is bringing out red patches 😭 You're also in California?! I feel like it's been colder this winter here.. LOTS of rain. Record breaking apparently. In socal anyway. Are you using the EADEM Cloud Cushion Plush Moisturizer with Ceramides + Peptides religiously @itsfi ??

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

That's my favorite Laneige sleeping mask @jaaayp. I have a mini of the newest one to try still but I do love the Laneige cica sleeping mask. Yes, I'm in the Bay Area. Weather has been strange of late, especially for this time of the year. It's been very cold at night - as in I had layers on, then had a couple of layers of blankets on top of me, and still had to turn on the heater because I couldn't fall / stay asleep because I was so cold. There was also an earthquake the other day.

I finished the Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin™ Skin Barrier Moisturizing Cream last week and have been working my way through the mini Eadem moisturizer and a mini of the Biossance rose oil - they're helping with dryness from overdoing it with a new-to-me spot treatment I was using to try to take care of some unexpected breakouts. Also incorporating a Dr. Jart Ceramidin moisturizer (that's exclusive to the Dr. Jart site).

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Ooh. Yes. Socals been "cold" too which is nuts all things considered (april, socal, ya know) @itsfi oooh is it really? I've been really enjoying the LANEIGE Cica Sleeping Mask which surprised me since it's like... so slippery/thick?? My skin calms down like crazy! Have you tried the LANEIGE Bouncy + Firm Radiance Boosting Sleeping Mask 2 oz / 60 ml ?? I've eyed it during the sale but fought so hard since I have multiple masks..  🫠

Did you enjoy the Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin™ Skin Barrier Moisturizing Cream ? It's my first time using anything barrier related (beekman) and I definitely can see the difference (my redness is nuts!)

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@jaaayp Great is an understatement!

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Thank you @Samtian hehe 🥰

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Excellent job!!! That's dedication 🎉 @jaaayp

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Thank you @lmaster 🥰🥰

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

You made a lot of progress, @jaaayp!  Any standout favs in the bunch?

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

I think Verb Ghost Weightless Oil to Fight Frizz and Enhance Shine is pretty much a continuous purchase for me.. I REALLY hate the Glow Recipe Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser 5.41 oz/ 160 mL (I don't understand the hype) but the standout really has to be EADEM Milk Marvel Dark Spot Serum with Niacinamide and Vitamin C 1 oz/ 30 mL by far @CookieGirl1 !

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Going on a mini hearting spree ... apologies in advance for all the notifications 🙃

Q1 progress! I have used up half of my small samples. I think I’ll be able to finish the other samples in Q2, which was my goal!

I must say that using these small, plastic rollerball samples really makes me appreciate my regular-sized, higher-quality metal rollerballs. These were such a pain to get anything to actually come out onto my skin.

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@Cissy63 @caitbird Thank you!! I’m excited to share my next update in Q2!!

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@KeriCherryDee  awesome job! You've made some great progress!
