Working Towards Wellness: May 2026 🌸

Hey there, BIC! 👋 May is often recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to increase awareness and understanding, reduce the stigma and support mental wellbeing.

This month's wellness bingo board includes some self-care avenues to looking after our mental wellbeing. If this is something you think may be of interest to you, we'd love to have you stick around a bit and give our little game of wellness bingo a go, playing along at home or on the boards here, as you feel comfortable. Whether you're starting your personal wellness journey,  looking to refresh your self-care routine, working towards maintaining or further refining your wellness practice, welcome!

May 2026 BWell Bingo (final).jpg

What is '"wellness bingo" about?
Simply put, it's about focusing on our personal wellness (in its various aspects), in a fun way, à la a game of bingo.

Self-care can be a very personal thing - what works for one person may not work for someone else. Practicing wellness is a process - it takes time and effort. We have our good days and bad days - moments when we are thriving; and others where we need to pause, take a deep breath (or multiple ones, for that matter) and reset. But even as our self-care journey is a personal matter, support, encouragement and just knowing there are others there working through it with you, doesn't hurt.

FAQ / FYI:

Re: Working Towards Wellness: May 2026 🌸

Thank you everyone who participated or stopped by just to check out the monthly wellness bingo threads. There's a post (a few posts) below with a bingo card for June if anyone is interested. Even though the Forum will no longer be active, I hope you continue to find ways to get in some self-care, in big and small ways.

For my last check-in, I have one activity to share - practice gratitude. Grateful for this Community. Grateful for all of you. Thank you for sharing your wellness habits and activities, your struggles and triumphs, and for giving this a try, whether it was just once or every month since we started. Appreciate you and wishing you all the best. Be well.

Re: Working Towards Wellness: May 2026 🌸

My final wellness post on BIC!!

IMG_3276.jpeg

I made an effort in May to complete the square knowing that it would be our last go round!

There was lots of gardening, lots of time spent with family and lots of time spent really trying to unplug and focus on myself more consciously.

I found some packets of crystalized lime from the brand True Lime that have gotten me to drink actual water!  As a Diet Pepsi connoisseur, this is a major step for me.

I'm also very thankful for BIC and all of you who've helped me along the way to stop, realize that beauty isn't all about the products you use and what you haul, but about who we are.

Big thanks to @itsfi for facilitating this thread and pushing us all to be the best versions of ourselves as we can every month.

Best of luck to everyone on their wellness journey going forward!

Re: Working Towards Wellness: May 2026 🌸

You cleared the board @missjeanie!! 🙌 Woohoo! Congratulations!

It has truly been my pleasure and an absolute joy to have hosted these wellness bingo threads.

Arts & crafts - have been making cards with pressed flowers.

Exercise, soak up sun, audiobook - Kept up with my gym routine and this month I did walk outside while listening to an audiobook which helped a lot with making the time go by.

Seasonal fruits and veggies and quality time with loved ones - My younger brother and his girlfriend came to visit so we went strawberry picking one day and the couple that runs the place told us about a produce hall / farmers market and we stopped by on our way home and got some veggies. “We”, but mostly my brother, made a yummy veggie lasagna (healthy meal) and strawberry ice cream the next day, not healthy but also very yummy 😋

Change it up and body care - for this one, I tried the cycling class at the gym, and omg, I have never been so sore. 😣 I was all sweaty after but thought I’m fine hard but good workout but then after getting home, showering and sitting down to dinner, it was really really hard to get up from the table after dinner - so sore! 😅 Body care box was to soak in epsom salt bath for half and hour.

I just saw the news about the threads. 😢 I’m totally bummed this is prob my last wellness posting. I wasn’t on here long or much, masking when I was in school and then nothing and then back on with this self care challenge that has been a lot of fun and very helpful and good for me. Tons more than I thought it would be when I started at it. Thanks for this self care game @ itsfi and always being welcoming and encouraging and open, and knowledgeable, about masks, skincare an and all these self care things.

Re: Working Towards Wellness: May 2026 🌸

That's awesome you've kept up with your exercise routine @nuinui933, that is no small feat! And yes, spinning or cycling, especially your first couple of go's, will make you sore. But you did it!!

Re: Working Towards Wellness: May 2026 🌸

I love a good farmers market @nuinui933 sounds like you guys has some yummy treats!  Thanks for being here!  Hope to see you on other forums!

Legend (May 2026).jpg

Butterfly is for spring. The take-out box for Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month - there's so much more to AAPIs than food but food is a big part of our culture and it's a big part of my childhood. The green ribbon is a symbol for May's Mental Health Awareness Month and the cluster of flowers is meant to go with the saying "April showers bring May flowers".

  • Quiet Time: I've spent more time being offline during my downtime and being more reflective, with some breaks in between to check up on and check in with a few friends, as well as meet my friend's baby for the first time - it really is so entertaining and joyful to watch someone so small just sleep. 😍

  • Hydrate & Exercise: Getting back to a better routine/habit/schedule with hydrating and exercising after falling off for a bit.

  • Aromatherapy has been a welcome activity because despite the cold and wind, my allergies are still present. But I had a reprise and could smell and found a candle I forgot about (oops) - Byredo released a limited edition chocolatey gourmand and woody scented candle a year or so ago - ahhhh!

June 2026 Wellness Board is in the spoiler. Apologies for the slight delay; I had meant to post it Monday evening.

Re: Working Towards Wellness: May 2026 🌸

This month I’ve been trying to focus more on simple wellness habits like taking daily walks, sleeping on a better schedule, drinking more water, and spending less time scrolling at night. Small routines honestly make a big difference for mental wellbeing and energy levels. I also liked reading the BetterMe article https://betterme.world/articles/how-long-will-it-take-me-to-lose-40-pounds/ about losing 40 pounds because it talks about realistic progress, healthy habits, motivation, and staying consistent instead of rushing results.

Re: Working Towards Wellness: May 2026 🌸

@milanamiss Less time scrolling... I need to take that advice at bed time!  Thanks for mentioning realistic progress... it's something we all need to keep in mind!

Re: Working Towards Wellness: May 2026 🌸

All great wellness activities to work on making a habit of; nice work @milanamiss.

Body care, exercise and stress management  go together for me. I workout 6x a week to keep fit and healthy and also to manage stress.

Hydrate and seasonal fruits and veggies are everyday things I check off my to do list. I have oatmeal with berries of some kind every morning and a salad for lunch during the work week and am really good about drinking water.

Toasted myself for cutting back on some spending. I really wanted to buy a few perfumes but decided to wait because I had just bought a bunch of clothes and makeup last month. Like I know it’s good for me in the long run but it’s not easy. Anyways I toasted myself with a Frappuccino at Starbies - I had a gift card so I’m not counting it as spending. 😆

Arts crafts and aromatherapy - went to a candle making workshop with my sister and her daughter and my boyfriend’s two girls.

Mental health awareness, quality time and mask time - did a self assessment over masking with my boyfriend’s oldest daughter. Good bonding time. We had pizza and ice cream so can't mark off the healthy meal box for this one, lolz.

Inspired quote  “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” - Anne Lamott - I didn't know who she was but I like the quote. Sorta a nice reminder to give myself a break, like a real one.

Movie - had a girls night out with some girlfriends - Devil Wears Prada 2 (my second viewing of it so I could just gawk at the clothes) and dinner afterwards.

OMG, I came back from some time off for a family reunion / wedding / extended vacay time and saw that this is shutting down? That sucks. I was only on here for a short time, but got a lot out of this. It was what I needed and in a fun and gentle way to go about it. Awe, gonna miss this. Well now I"m gonna have to try to hit all the boxes this month. 🤣

Re: Working Towards Wellness: May 2026 🌸

@adamsev A candle making workshop sounds so fun!

Re: Working Towards Wellness: May 2026 🌸

Those are some great wellness activities @adamsev; congrats on your bingo! That candle making workshop sounds fun - something unique. Love your girls night out - The Devil Wears Prada 2 was a fun one! Ahhh, yes, it's sad to see the forum retirning (and so soon too) but it has been good for so many, whether you've been here from the very start or just found it in the last few months or weeks or days.

Re: Working Towards Wellness: May 2026 🌸

@itsfi  My dear friend, I’m gonna miss your threads so much. 🌹

Re: Working Towards Wellness: May 2026 🌸

Yaaaassss, totally agree!!! @blackkitty2014 @itsfi

Re: Working Towards Wellness: May 2026 🌸

Awwww @blackkitty2014, very much appreciate you; and thank you for your kind words. It means a lot. I will miss you as well, but, we have until the first part of June on this Forum so I'll be checking back in here every so often before then.

I have a few approaches I've been playing out in my head as far as getting a couple more wellness bingo cards to folks who may be interested. I need to make some adjustments to the June wellness bingo card and I will post it here in advance of June (probably a week before) so that anyone interested can have it in advance.

May 2026 BWell - Week 1.jpg

change it up has been two-fold, both involving my my morning routine. Spring allergies have left me more easily dehydrated more often, even more so this spring than in years past. My change up has been to switch my AM routine to focus on getting my hydration levels up before I get to my first cup of coffee/tea and to try to incorporate a quick, under 10-minute facial lymphatic facial massage "wake up" routine that I try to do 2-3 times a week through Labor Day. Ideally, I'd do it every morning but, baby steps, folks; baby. steps.

seasonal fruits and veggies and healthy meal - getting back into more salads so that's my check for healthy meal and veggies. For seasonal fruits, it's berries. Just a smidge early for strawberry season but I had strawberries and ice cream so somewhat seasonal, not so healthy. 😅 But delicious all around!

prioritize sleep - yes and it's been paying off. I've been trying to get to bed at least an half hour to an hour earlier than before. While trying is the operative word there, it has been happening more times than not during the week so I'm happy with that.
