What and in what order...ESSENCE!!!

Iโ€™ve been seeing and hearing everyone suggesting to use and essence in my skin care. My question is: What does it do and how beneficial is it? In what order does it fall into my am/pm skin care? Also, whatโ€™s the best one to get. Mind you Iโ€™m not looking to spend a small fortune on this.

@HoneyKin essence primes the skin to absorb serums & creams. cleanse, tone, then add essence, serum, eye cream, moisturize then sunscreen ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: What and in what order...ESSENCE!!!

I have sort of fallen in love with CosRX Galactomyces Tone balancing essence. It's thicker than a toner, so I use it after that with my serums: after a thin pH dependent one like Drunk Elephant Framboos, but before an oily or thick one like the Ordinary Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate or Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum.

Re: What and in what order...ESSENCE!!!

@HoneyKin, there are a lot of essences out there and some toners can be used as essences. In addition to the brands @SportyGirly125 mentioned, you might also want to look into one or more of these items:

Under $25:

  • Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner - it comes in 2 formats - a mist which is targeted for those with normal / oily / combination skin and a bottle for those with dehydrated or dry skin
  • Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence
  • CosRx Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence
  • Secret Key Aloe Soothing Moist Toner - there are a few different varietals from this line that are good and economically priced

$26-$50:

More than $50:

  • FRESH - Black Tea Kombucha Antioxidant Essence
  • AMOREPACIFIC - Vintage Single Extract Essence

Like @Jackieex9 and SportyGirly125 mentioned, essences are applied after toner and before your serum(s).

RE: Re: What and in what order...ESSENCE!!!

Thank you so much I have ordered a few of these to try.

Re: What and in what order...ESSENCE!!!

@HoneyKin an essence helps add moisture back into your skin and can plump it up. You would use it after your toner. Good ones I have tried are From tatcha, SKII, and Caudalie.

Re: What and in what order...ESSENCE!!!

@SportyGirly125 tatcha is great!

RE: What and in what order...ESSENCE!!!

The purpose of an essence is to help balance and prepare your skin for treatments such as serums, moisturizers, oils, etc. It helps put moisture back into the skin and acts as a primer for your skincare routine. I would suggest using an essence right after your toner!
