Thank you @Aaliaa for starting this thread, and giving us a place to share our love for masks💗
@Shosh85, that was the mask (it was an avocado and broccoli mask) that made me start giving more attention to the instructions. 😀 I've noticed that many of the masks manufactured in New Zealand include instructions calling for you to rinse off the serum, but I think I've seen it in other sheet masks as well. Having broken out from something in that particular sheet mask was enough for me to pay more attention to the instructions. @eshoe Good to hear neither of you experienced any negative reactions.
I love those masks, @eshoe ! I'm happy you like them too 😊😊
I did, @l8totheparty! Thank you so much for sending this to me; your description brought a smile to my face every time I saw this one in my drawer☺️
L is for #LightUp
bioBELLE #LightUp Face Mask
Material:
Tencel
Serum:
Clear, watery and kinda slightly sudsy
Scent:
Not really much of a scent - maybe a sweet-floral kind of scent - but it was super light and hardly noticeable.
Fit:
Too long at the chin and a tad to wide at the temples
Wear Time:
Half hour
Tack:
None
Results:
Hydrated, soft and smooth skin with a nice glow. Didn't really notice much brightening - my skin may have looked slightly brightened, but it really was just very slight.
Repurchase?
Meh, probably not. It's a good mask and will gladly finish the others I have, but it just wasn't very stand-out to me. For a brightening mask it didn't do much brightening.
@lmaster Yeah, it wasn't bad at all, just nothin' special. I feel like they put more effort into the packaging than they did with the actual masks. 😬
@Shosh85, “meh” sounds right with this one. I didn’t think the results were bad but there was, as you said, nothing standout about the mask. Other than the Tencel material maybe. I feel like more sheet masks find their way into the “good but not great” or the “not bad but not standout” or the “would use but probably wouldn’t repurchase” categories. I suppose that’s better than having masks fall in the “ohhh, heck no!” camp. 😆
@itsfi Yup, I think now that I'm so far into the masking game, there are less and less masks that impress me and fall into the categories you mentioned. It's not very often I have an "ohhh, heck no!" mask... so I guess that's a good thing. 😉
I think what annoys me the most about these masks is that the star ingredients are always last or near last - even fragrance is higher in the list 😐
Completely agree with everything you said @Shosh85! I’m also happy there are few “ohhhh, heck no!” masks in my bin. Yes, yes and yes to how frustrating it is to find the star ingredients near the end of the inci list! These days, with new-to-me masks, I usually put a mask back on the shelf or take it out of my cart if I see fragrance listed before the star ingredient, or if the star ingredient is so far down the ingredients list that it means there’s barely anything there. The few times I don’t do that is if I’ve just overlooked it, or I’m unable to find an English translation for the ingredients list, or maskers I trust have raved about the particular mask.
Appealing for sure, especially when you are on day 34 of 40 days without sugar @Shosh85 😂 Thought I would catch up on masking but instead I’m just getting hungry, ha!
L is for Lacto SaccharomycesGolden Rice MaskThis is a two step mask containing avena sativa, rice extract, saccharomyces rice ferment and lactobacillus in one packet and a hydrating essence (hyaluronic acid and hydrolyzed collagen) in the other side. You pop the two essences together (popping the packet took multiple tries) and massage until mixed. It’s supposed to support the natural flora on your skin and create a stronger skin barrier. Sounds good to me.
The mask smells strongly of sake upon first opening but then the scent fades but is still noticeable throughout the masking session. The tencel sheet is thin and conforms well though it bunched a up above my lip a bit. My skin feels soft and plump after wearing this. I would most certainly purchase this one again!
This brand seems to work well for you, @heartsmyface - I remember you enjoyed the turquoise one with the Pearl, too! The sake scent makes me a *little* hesitant, it seems like that can go off after awhile. But this reminded me of the fun sake-beer combos with cheap happy hour sushi 🍣
