Mask of the Week Misc. Info & Previous Year's Links:

To Post:

Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas.

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi  That packaging... looks so chic!  I've got to say though, the idea of a bubble lip mask is intriguing.  I'm still on the bubble fence, but dang that's got me thinking now!

And I hope you know how thankful we are to have you here as well.  I love seeing your gorgeous flat lays, even if they make me hungry 98% of the time!!!  lol.  Hope you enjoy your holiday.  Much love.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Awww, @missjeanie! ๐Ÿฅฐ Thank you for your kind words; they mean so much. Hahaha! Masking and eating are two of my favorite things to do! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I guess Iโ€™ve found a way to combine them. ๐Ÿ˜‚

โ€œbubble fenceโ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚ I wouldnโ€™t say a bubble lip mask is a must have but itโ€™s fun.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi I'm all about your food and masking combos!  I love the creativity. Makes me smile. ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi @Thatโ€™s adorable packaging on the sheet mask! It sounds like a winner - itโ€™s always great to have a good morning mask around!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@Kim888, completely agree! The packaging on this one is super fun! I love that the mask itself also gives excellent results! โ™ฅ๏ธ

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

E for Vitamin E

This is the last mask for the 3 pack I tried. Out of the 3 this one is my least favorite. The sheet was fine, same as the others, the scent was horrendous,,,๐Ÿคฎ an absolute deal breaker. To me it smelled foul, that's the best description. Wear time was 15, I wanted to give it a fair shot despite the scent. It completely was underwhelming!! It claims quenching,,,I felt very minimal hydration, nothing screamed soothing and nothing felt moisturizing about this mask. Major fail.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Ack!! ๐Ÿ˜ซ Sorry to hear this 3-pack was underwhelming @lmaster. ๐Ÿ˜Œ Appreciate your thoughts on each of the masks. Knowing masks that are not worth picking up is just as helpful as knowing the good ones.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi the experience is worth the price ๐Ÿ˜† usually

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

I just ordered one. Ugh. The smell is going to be a killer for me too.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@Danielle103 I'd love to know what you think of these masks, we can compare scents โ˜บ๏ธ

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Too bad only the one was a good one for you @lmaster .  Good on you for giving it a fair shot after a nasty scent though!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

It literally reminded me of the smell of a poorly kept pond @missjeanie

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@lmaster  Aww, dang. Sorry to hear this one didn't turn out so well! A bad scent and unimpressive results definitely sound like a fail to me. ๐Ÿ˜•

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85 ughhhhhh major fail ๐Ÿ˜’

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@lmaster  Ewwww. Do you like the smell of aloe? Seems so weird it wouldn't smell like that.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

I never had an issue with aloe @PrettyPaint but this is not what I have experienced aloe smelling like ๐Ÿ˜†

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Major shame on the scent for this one, @lmaster. Too bad it didn't work out!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@quspork at times I can let a scent go, but the overall claims were not even met here ๐Ÿ˜ฃ

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Same, @lmaster - for totally wowing results, I can look the other way on a less than desirable scent, but if the mask doesn't perform that well, then it just gets added to the list of reasons to not repurchase haha.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

I meant to use this mask last week for G is for Gotu Kola (aka centella asiatica aka cica) but didn't get a chance to use it so I used it this week, which means it's a U for ummm.... and unsure (if this is bio-cellulose).
KNC Big Chill.jpg
KNC Beauty Big Chill Face Mask with Aloe + Gotu has the same fit (small, but malleable), adherence (great) and wearability as the KNC Beauty Big Drip Face Mask with Irish Sea Moss + Marula Oil. I pick up a clean, fresh, almost signature sheet mask scent to it. Performance-wise, this Big Chill version, as its name would suggest, felt cool on my skin while worn (though that could have also been due to it being cold the other night). Like the Big Drip version, my skin felt lightly hydrated with this mask. My skin was pretty calm to begin with so I can't really speak to how soothing the cica in this mask might have been.
Now, after having used two masks from this line, I'm still not certain that this is as claimed, a bio-cellulose mask. This time I took a pic and tried to get the pic to show up (see spoiler). It looks less bio-cellulose and more hydrogel to me. What say you? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts. I have one more mask in the set and I think I may compare and contrast it with what I know to be a hydrogel mask, specifically, the discontinued Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Jelly Sheet Mask.
Does this look like a bio-cellulose mask?

Ingredients: (from kncbeauty (dot) com)
Aqua/Water/Eau, Glycerin, Chondrus Crispus Powder, Trehalose, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Mica, Allantoin, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Helichrysum Italicum Flower Oil, Bisabolol, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi  Hmmm, I'm not quite sure what I think this looks like, but I not so sure I'd say biocellulose. Maybe it's some kind of hybrid - like a cross between both ๐Ÿ˜‚ @quspork made a good point about the slip - I think that's a great way to distinguish between the two!
