Mask of the Week Misc. Info & Previous Year's Links:

To Post:

Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas.

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@lmaster  Hooray for another winner! I hope to see the Bombee Fruitables masks return to retailers soon... really hope they haven't been discontinued. They're such a nice line of masks.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@WinglessOne I agree!! These are excellent!!

2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

My masking from last night. I'm not using this Cryo mask for the multi step theme since it only has two steps, but I'm using it for I = Irritating. Irritating not because the rubber mask was a pain to keep in place on my face, but because this sadly irritated my skin ☹️ These Dr. Jart masks have great reviews so I was excited to try. My cheeks and chin were red and I could feel it after 15 minutes. I couldn't leave this mask on for the 30-40 minutes it said to.

My go-to mask for when this happens is the First Aid Beauty FAB Pharma Arnica Relief & Rescue Mask 3.4 oz/ 96.4 g . R for Relief and Rescue. Soothes and calms redness almost instantly for me. I use a generous amount and leave it for 15 minutes then massage into my skin before bed. My skin is back to normal this morning.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Oh no, that's too bad about the Dr. Jart+ mask, @ladyassassin!! I've only tried the older formulations, but I'll be wary now of this yellow brightening one. I do love the FAB mask, it is excellent!!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

I have a DS of the FAB, and agree, it’s a nice calming mask @ladyassassin. Thankfully you had it on hand to help ease the results of the Dr. Jart!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@ladyassassin I really don't care for those Dr jart masks personally, sorry it was so irritating

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@ladyassassin  It's too bad you experienced irritation, but I'm glad the FAB mask could help out! I've heard the scent on the FAB isn't the greatest - I'm curious, what do you think it smells like?

@Shosh85 that's a good question! It's hard to describe the smell, which I think is very faint and not a bad smell at all. Almost smells a bit minty in the tube, but disappears when applied to the skin. Hard to describe what that smell is though 😜

@ladyassassin  Good to know! Thanks! 😃

@Shosh85 agreeing with @ladyassassin here. I am very sensitive to scents, and I find that this mask has almost no scent and what it does have, it isn't too irritating/overpowering/bad.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

That's a shame the Dr. Jart didn't agree with your skin, @ladyassassin. Glad to hear the FAB mask helped with that though.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Oh no @ladyassassin! I am so sorry to hear the mask irritated your skin. Ugh 😩. Good you had that FAB mask on hand - I’ve heard good things about it!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Hello lovelies!
I decided to try the Hourglass Unlocked Mascara and on a whim, I picked up a mini DE A-passioni to try again and see if I can tolerate it this time.   I also grabbed the DE Sili body lotion.  Though its a body lotion and not really a mask I thought I would just quickly mention my experience --I'm not a huge fan of the smell but it does dissipate fairly quickly.  With sensitive skin sometimes it is hard to find an alternative to Vanicream or Cerave that works well without aggravating.  I do find a little goes a long way and has been definitely hydrating and non-irritating for my skin.

At present, I've stepped back from my Herbivore Prism 2.0 and Bakuchiol for the last two weeks.  I combine it with DE Lala Retro and use some Biossance Squalane Oil after I apply the combo.  I've used it once a week so far without any reaction. Next week I'll add the Prism back in mid-week and use the DE combo on the weekend and see how that goes.  I tend to use F-Balm a few times a week but to be honest, I'm not sure if I notice a difference from that.  I am still on the fence about the A-passioni so I'll give it more time.  Glad to have my evening masking routine back.  It's so soothing.
 Drunk Elephant Sili™ Body Lotion 8.0 oz/ 240 mL
Drunk Elephant A-Passioni™ Retinol Cream 1 oz/ 30 mL
Drunk Elephant Lala Retro™ Whipped Moisturizer with Ceramides 1.69 oz/ 50 mL
Drunk Elephant F-Balm™ Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask 1.69 oz/ 50 mL

Biossance 100% Sugarcane Squalane Oil 6.76 oz/ 200 mL

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@MCSSavvy Great information.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@tjffc - You're welcome and thank you! 🙂

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@MCSSavvy, always love to hear about your routines. Hope A-passioni continues to work  for you. The products you are using with it sound like great complements to it - the hydration and moisturize from DE Lala and the Biossance oil would make a nice buffer for the skin, to help keep it from becoming irritated.

DE F-Balm has a big fan base; Like you though, I didn’t notice a difference. I’ve heard it makes a better serum than mask for some folks. Have you tried it as a serum? I have a mini of it and plan to use it that way to see how it performs for me.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@itsfi -- Thank you, that's so kind!   I've used it fairly regularly either alone or as a serum.  For me personally, it doesn't feel very hydrating on its own (particularly during the winter) so occasionally I apply it by itself at night but more often than not I usually use it as a serum.  I incorporated it back into my skincare about a month ago and haven't noticed any real benefit that I can see.  I think I'll finish it but won't get a second bottle.  I definitely had hopes for it... if something changes between now and when I finish the bottle, I'll let you know.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Thanks for sharing, @MCSSavvy ! Are you still using the Biossance Squalane + Glycolic Renewal Mask? I keep going back and forth on that one.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@eshoe  -- Most definitely.  I like to put it on 5-10 minutes before I hop into the shower in the evening.  I apply a thin layer, wait and then rinse and use the Peeke bar to cleanse my face.  My skin doesn't feel irritated or tight when I get out of the shower and i apply Lala and Biossance's Squalane or DE Marula oil right after I get out.  I used it about twice a month during late winter /early spring and with the trial run of the A-passioni I've used it once this month.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Thank you for the feedback, @MCSSavvy! That’s definitely one I need to try.
