Beauty Ice Breakers

BIC is the place to talk about beauty!  There are lots of fun threads, from mask to makeup (and even photo A Year of Beauty- Photography Challenge ) challenges all the way to pet paradise.  In my early days, I kinda wanted to talk to everyone, but I didn't know what to talk about, I just knew I loved makeup and had found my people.

With threads like Monthly Favorites: May 2024 Edition! or
Community Favorite Concealers: Tag your Holy Grails!  , Beauty Pet Peeves 2 I feel the most comfortable when chiming in because I can talk about makeup.  I figured, hey, let's open up some discourse amongst ourselves; a thread with getting to know you questions could be kind of fun.  (And, I still get to talk about makeup.)

I'll post a question and a phrase with a blank and change it weekly? periodically. Answer one or both.

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

I agree with @danielledanielle! Pictures or it didn’t happen @heartsmyface!

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

What did you get for Christmas?

Since I just got my ears pierced, I asked my wife for something that represents her and our girls. She got me a mismatched set with a trio of flowers representing us and a star and moon representing our girls.

My goal for this year is _______.

Weight loss. I have been saying this for a while but I’m the type that just doesn’t find the gym mentally motivating. I need to be out and about, moving and doing something mentally stimulating.

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

Awww, the story around your gift is really touching @JoSometimes

A good way to be physically active is to take up a hobby if you aren't a gym person.  I eventually became a gym person, but I started off with jogging (hated it), then dance classes and yoga.

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

@danielledanielle It took me FOREVER to give her ideas. I’m the type that’s hard to shop for because if I want something, I find a good deal and get it myself before there’s an occasion like my birthday or Christmas.

And thanks for the tips. I have a bike that I bought during COVID. I cycled in front of the TV and pushed myself while an episode played and took a break during commercials. I need to start it up again. All my other physical hobbies are warm weather things.

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

Heh heh, I'm like that and so is hubbs @JoSometimes .  I've egged him on to give me 3 things (this is what my mom started doing with me as I got older) and I pick one, so that it's what he wants and it's a surprise.  HE NEVER DOES IT.  This year he gave me 2 things, and then (thankfully) recanted on one that was ridiculously overpriced IMO, so it kind of worked out

Oh, that's a good idea with a bike, and another way to be active that you essentially did -- gamify it.

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

What did you get for Christmas?   beautiful ski sweater.

My goal this year is - to climb the Manitou Incline ( I have been talking about this for years).

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

@CorgiMommy, maybe get dolled up (relatively as much as you like) and take that beautiful ski sweater on that incline!!

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

@danielledanielle that is a good one

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

I was kinda serious @CorgiMommy , 🤣 I feel like fashion can be motivational

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

What did you get for Christmas? (or if you don't celebrate, Boxing Day/End of year sale?)

My favorite things were a cold brew maker and eyeshadow palettes from some indie brands.

My goal for this year is to get a faculty job 🤞.

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

@haleyvvvv Good luck with your goal for this year! I hope you get something!

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

@haleyvvvv, sending all the vibes for the job!

And yes to cold brew coffee, it's almost like a delicacy.

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

Thank you so much, @danielledanielle!!

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

Happy 2024, everyone! 🎉

(I wasn't lying when I said I'd periodically update this, now was I ?!! 🤣🤦🏽‍♀️)

What did you get for Christmas? (or if you don't  celebrate, Boxing Day/End of year sale?)

My goal for this year is _______.

For Christmas, I got a few books, GCs and LoveShackFancy Forever In Love Eau de Parfum 2.5 oz / 75 mL Eau De Parfum

My goal for this year is decluttering my living space.

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

@danielledanielle  Ahhh you got the pretty bottle!!!  Yay!!

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

Yes! You know I was plotting this @heartsmyface , and the bow is so pretty.

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

Oooh, what a cool thread idea, @danielledanielle!! 👏👏👏

What lipstick do you carry in your purse/coat pocket?

Whatever I'm wearing that day. I don't usually keep anything in there permanently.

Signature Look

I feel like I mix it up a bit, trying to rotate through the collection. Something colorful/sparkly on the eyes. An orange blush. A velvet matte lipstick.

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

What lipstick (s) do you carry in your purse/bag/satchel?

this definitely depends on the day, but I have a rotation of “everyday” lippies in my daily bag, so it’ll definitely be one of those. I’ve attached a photo, but my current heaviest rotation products are KVD Beauty Epic Kiss Nourishing Vegan Butter Lipstick Shedefined , Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer Fenty Glow HUDA BEAUTY Silk Balm Hydrating and Nourishing Lip Balm Blush

NYX also seems to be a heavy rotation item for me. I love the  Lip Lingerie XXL in Caramelo and Candela Babe, and the Lip Lingerie Push-up in Teddy and Seduction. Honourable mention to the Essence Wet Shine Clear lipgloss that lives in my car ❤️

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

I agree that HUDA BEAUTY Silk Balm Hydrating and Nourishing Lip Balm Blush is highly underrated @cianni. I tried it for the first time last year when it was offered in a Sephora Favorites set. I even purchased a back up just for that item when it came back in stock.

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

@Loretta55 such a great product on its own or layered! i love the texture of it. not sticky and not too thin or thick. as much as i love my Fenty, if i'm in a rush i sometimes find i apply WAY too much because of the applicator

Re: Beauty Ice Breakers

I prefer it on its own @cianni
