100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

Day 43! So close to 50... but I think I’ll keep posting because I definitely have more 😂 this is the benefit benetint. It says the shade is rose but there is only one shade so 🤷🏽‍♀️ It’s funny because I liked the milk lip + cheek only for cheeks, and this is the same concept but I only like it on my lips. I’ll have to try it again on the cheeks, it just dries down fast so you have to really move if you want to blend it. Gives a comfy natural flush. Zero staying power on its own, so next time I’m going to layer with a sheer gloss and see how it holds up. I didn’t expect it to last long of course given how liquidy it is but it still says it’s a stain so...

I think I had a DS of the benefit at some point and remember the same thing. Also, the brush applicator just drives me crazy! Sidebar, I love your hair here! The loose waves are so pretty @cianni

@scott1201 thank you! I’m working through some sea salt spray as part of the pan challenge, and I’m realizing how much I like what it does for my hair 😂 I feel like the applicator doesn’t really pick anything up LOL. Especially for a DS, the bottle is sooo teeny!

I like the idea behind the benetint @cianni but even when I just tried it in store found the staying power dismal especially for something that says it's a stain. I'm curious how it will hold up with a gloss. Let me know when you test it. Thanks!

@ShortErica yeah I definitely will! If it doesn’t work I’ll just have to try one of those ph glosses instead haha, I think it’ll give the same type of flushed look.

Day 83, lipstick 98: Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme in Editrix. I’m very love-hate about this one. It looks very brown on me, which isn’t a bad thing... brown lipsticks just aren’t my usual thing, but I like this shade. Each time I wear this, I wish I could see more of the dark oxblood color MJ claims is in there. It looks more like dried blood to me. 😂 But again, that’s not a bad thing! And it’s very comfy when first applied. But throughout the day, it dries my lips out. I have that problem with all Le Marc Creme shades I’ve tried, which is kinda weird. Anyway, Editrix also gets streaky and stripey as it wears down, so I find myself reapplying often—even if I haven’t had any food or drink. I really should ditch this. I know I have at least one better performing brown, and definitely better performing oxbloods. 

It’s a no-concealer/powder/etc. day: giving my skin a break.

Day 2 - Laura Mercier lipstick in Audrey

This color lasted really well throughout the morning and left an even stain on my lips after lunch. I didn’t even reapply!

Very pretty, @scott1201! I love lipsticks that wear well and leave a nice stain behind as they wear down. 

And okay, you can’t say “long story” about that squirrel without telling us the story. 😂 I wouldn’t have thought odd things about it, but now that I know there’s a story behind it... I need to knooooow!

Haha, @WinglessOne! Okay. Long story short. 

My partner and I are notorious for naming all the outside animals around our house - squirrels, rabbits, lizards, cats, etc. We even make up stories about their lives (the blue jays in our backyard are at war with the squirrels right now, for instance.) Our friends think it is (hopefully) equal parts hilarious and insane. So, two christmases ago, we get a random Amazon package without a gift note or indication of sender. It’s this fake stuffed squirrel! 🐿 None of our friends would fess up to it but it’s a hilarious thing to have randomly perched on windows in our house

@scott1201 😂 Now that’s a great random mystery gift! Did you name that squirrel? 

During my suburban stint, I named all the surrounding animals and also had stories about them. That was nearly 30 years ago, but I still wonder if the neighborhood gang of squirrels ever settled their longtime beef with the crows who pretty much owned every bird feeder on my block.

Agreed, @cianni! I think I got this mini in a Sephora Favorites set a couple years ago. I definitely need to use it more. I really loved how it looked throughout the day 🤗
