100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

Both lipsticks look great on you @WinglessOne ! You can rock any color girl! I love unconventional colors and conventional ones also but I prefer bolder ones!

@WinglessOne  Wow, Hi Striker is incredible on you. What a great red!  I really like Perversion on you as well, but if you have better dupes...

@WinglessOne actually the worn-down Perversion looks quite interesting. I thought at first it were a different lipstick.

@Krysa13 Perversion definitely shows its deep purple base once it starts to wear down, which looks pretty cool. But it also wears off a lot in the middle, and starts to noticeably crack when I smile. And it starts to pill a bit. 😞 I think I just talked myself into decluttering Perversion.

Today’s selection is Shiseido VisionAiry Gel Lipstick in 204 which is Scarlet (Something, I cant remember). I do like the texture of these lipsticks and they glide on beautifully and last too. But is anyone else a little miffed at the difference between the way the colors are shown online and what they really look like on? It seems like IRL they all lean way warmer than shown. I was expecting this to be a bit cooler when it reads almost a little rusty on me. I like it, but it’s not what I thought I was buying. Shiseido VisionAiry 204

@jozkid Scarlet Rush looks BEAUTIFUL on you, but absolutely does not look like the online swatch 🙂 Shiseido is notorious for inaccurate color swatches, I always guess based on color description or try to look for IRL swatches on blogs or instagram. It's annoying for sure!

Ok, for giggles I did a screenshot of Scarlet Rush from Shiseido’s site on their palest model (I’m light). You guys tell me

LOL @jozkid. Its like they used a mismatched lip liner that changes the color completely. It's still a great color on you 🙂

The difference in color swatches vs real life is astonishing @jozkid ! They look completely different!

Thanks @Krysa13. I do like it, it just annoys me that in reality it’s leaning orange because generally speaking oranges are not good on me

@jozkid Heh, mine wasn’t even the actual shade I thought I was buying—and I bought mine in-store at Macy’s. 😄 (Salesperson bagged the wrong shade.) I’m so used to shades of all kinds of makeup looking different on me, this kind of thing doesn’t phase me anymore. But now I’m curious enough to look up product photos of my VisionAiry Gel (Firecracker) to see how true-to-color it is. And this reminds me that I still haven’t bought another one. 

Anyway, I do like how warm this one looks on you. It suits you quite well!

It’s brighter in person than it is in this photo. I used a deeper red shade at the corners to tone it down. Firecracker was definitely a happy accident. 

Edit: For the hell of it, here’s me vs. Shiseido’s model photo... and yep, there’s a difference. But again, I’m not surprised. 😄
