100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

Fenty Pose Queen, Scholar Sista & The MVP

Lipstick Nos. 6, 7 & 8 for this challenge are from the Fenty Icon Semi Matte Lipstick line that I've been reaching for as part of this week's Capsule Makeup Collection Challenge 2025. These Fenty lippies may be on their way to being discontinued, or already discontinued. Figures that I would be just now getting to the sample pack. 😔 I can't even be said to be fashionably late. Sigh.

3/100 - Fenty Pose Queen (top right) is a warm-leaning, dark pinky-peach shade (that looks a lot warmer and peachier in the sample blister packet up close). This is typically a very disagreeable color family for my lips (e.g., usually too warm, leans too orange, etc), but, for some reason, Pose Queen doesn't look so bad. So it makes complete sense that I would discover this shade after it appears to have long been discontinued. =P I'll have to sift through my bin of refills at some point as there is a sliiiight possibility this may have been a shade I picked up when it was heavily marked down before being entirely removed from the brand's lineup. 

4/100 - Fenty Scholar Sista shows up as a neutral-to-warm leaning medium rosy-mauve pink on my lips (it looks more like a muted red-based pink in the blister packet). I have a full size of this shade. 

5/100 - Fenty The MVP, a cool-toned, medium-dark, blue-based red, is the type of red that scares me the most because (1) in the tube, these types of red look like they are meant for grown-ups (and I'm pretty much still in training wheels as far as red lipsticks go, notwithstanding my profile pic, lol) and (2) blue-based reds have a tendency to turn fuchsia on me, which would be fine if I were looking or hoping for a fuchsia-hued lip color. Of the three lip shades, this was the fussiest. I applied 2 passes of Melt Ivory before applying the actual lipstick and once after to clean up the areas where the product had migrated.

Other products* used:

• Melt Makeup eye liner Ivory to contour my lips
• Merit lip liner in Bespoke to softly line lips, blended/diffused color with fingers - for Pose Queen and Scholas Sista only
• Lip brush to apply color to lips
• Fenty lip oil - Cherry - I didn't end up using the lip oil for any of these swatches as the product was pretty creamy on its own - surprising (in the best way for me, someone with drier lips). This is described as having a demi-matte finish but based on my experience, it feels more like it leaves a creamy, satin finish.

* Merit lip liner Bespoke and Fenty lip oil Cherry are still available on Sephora but I'm unable to tag them at the moment. Melt eye liner is no longer carried at Sephora online but can be purchased through brand site directly.

I'll continue to reach for Pose Queen and Scholar Sista as they are; I can see one or both being part of a future Lips on Lock 🔐: List Your Lip Combos 💄👄 post. I don't see myself wearing The MVP without some modifications, but I'm not quite ready to declutter it. I have a feeling that I will end up mixing it with one of my many lip balms for a DIY tinted lip balm, possibly with another color added to the mix. We'll see.

Playing some catch up here - lipstick nos. 2 thru 5 - neutral brown, pink, rosy brown and a mauvey-pinky rose 💋

2/100 (top left)

• Peptide Lip Shape Contouring Lip Shaper - rhode | Sephora - Balance, a creamy, caramel brown - I used this shade to line my lips and diffused the color with my ring finger
• MERIT Signature Lip Lightweight Lipstick Slip, described as a "warm neutral" - it's a soft caramel brown, very similar in color to Rhode Balance.
• Facile Lip Jelly Hydrating Glossy Peptide Treatment Rouge - in the shade Champagne, which isn't available through Sephora. Clear base with nude shimmers

3/100 (top right)

• DIOR Rouge Dior Contour No-Transfer Lip Liner Pencil in shade 100 Nude Look, a nude pink, not currently available at Sephora
• Yves Saint Laurent YSL Loveshine Lip Oil Stick 44 Nude Lavalliere, cool toned light pink - I have a mini size from several promo gwps and the now sold out Sephora Favorites It's Giving Nude Lips Kit

4/100 (bottom left)

• Beauty Bakerie Lip Whip Liquid Lipstick Syruptitious, a mauve rose liquid lipstick
• Juvia's Place Coffee Shop Lip Gloss Mochaccino, a warm mocha brown gloss
• To help give my lips some extra hydration and moisture, I laid down a coat of the Juvia's Place lip gloss first, then the Beauty Bakerie liquid lipstick, directly from the wand and then smoothing product out and cleaning edges with a lip brush. 

5/100 (bottom right) - color is much more vibrant, glossy & pink IRL

@Mellmars1185, thank you. 5/100 is probably the color family I have the most shades of in my stash. @Sunnysmom 

mellmars1185, Sephora Canada had a different assortment of nude lipsticks for the Sephora Favorites set? That typically is the case when there's a brand that is sold in the US but not in Canada but I feel like that the ones in the set are also brands sold in Sephora Canada. 🤔 The kit included lip products from the following brands:

• Haus Labs
• Laneige
• Lawless
• Make Up For Ever
• Merit
• Tarte
• YSL

Is there a brand that's listed there that isn't carried in Canada? Off the top of my head, none of these products contain sunscreen so it's unlikely due to a difference in SPF regulations between the two countries or labeling requirements as a result of those regulations. 🤔

@itsfi What a pretty set 😍! The Sephora Favorites Nude set is not available on the Canadian site. All of the brands you listed are available to buy individually. However, I do not see that set. I bought this lip set. It is currently the only available lip set for Sephora Favorites.

@Mellmars1185, we have that set in the US as well with those brands but ours also includes item from Dr. Dennis Gross, Lancome & YSL. Interesting. 🤔  The DDG & YSL are plumping products and probably contain ingredients that may be subject to different regulatory requirements in Canada. I know the YSL one has a noticeable sting; I've heard the same goes for the DDG so maybe that is it. I don't recall that being something in the Lancome product though. Hmmm.

@itsfi Very interesting! I wish this set came with the additional 3 lippies. The DDG lip plumper has grown on me. I like the minis of the YSL lippies because the full sized ones are quite pricey. U love the Favorites sets because they are a great way to try new products and can be a good deal. I feel like I am missing out a bit 🤔

100% agree @Mellmars1185; it's nice to be able to try out products - and have a good amount of product to try out too. The YSL was the only product/shade in that nude lip set that I already had (in a full and deluxe sample size) - all the other products were either new to me or in a new shade for me. That rarely happens anymore so I was excited to pick it up. It's no longer available in the Sephora stores but I just checked Kohl's and you know what else is interesting?!!! The kit there only contains 6, not 7 of the lip products - it doesn't include the YSL product (which I think I heard about on the Forum at one point) and it (the one at Kohl's) is $3 less ($42) than the one that was available at Sephora ($45) - somehow I think the YSL deluxe sample is worth more / costs more than $3.
