100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

@Mellmars1185, thank you. 5/100 is probably the color family I have the most shades of in my stash. @Sunnysmom 

mellmars1185, Sephora Canada had a different assortment of nude lipsticks for the Sephora Favorites set? That typically is the case when there's a brand that is sold in the US but not in Canada but I feel like that the ones in the set are also brands sold in Sephora Canada. 🤔 The kit included lip products from the following brands:

• Haus Labs
• Laneige
• Lawless
• Make Up For Ever
• Merit
• Tarte
• YSL

Is there a brand that's listed there that isn't carried in Canada? Off the top of my head, none of these products contain sunscreen so it's unlikely due to a difference in SPF regulations between the two countries or labeling requirements as a result of those regulations. 🤔

@itsfi What a pretty set 😍! The Sephora Favorites Nude set is not available on the Canadian site. All of the brands you listed are available to buy individually. However, I do not see that set. I bought this lip set. It is currently the only available lip set for Sephora Favorites.

@Mellmars1185, we have that set in the US as well with those brands but ours also includes item from Dr. Dennis Gross, Lancome & YSL. Interesting. 🤔  The DDG & YSL are plumping products and probably contain ingredients that may be subject to different regulatory requirements in Canada. I know the YSL one has a noticeable sting; I've heard the same goes for the DDG so maybe that is it. I don't recall that being something in the Lancome product though. Hmmm.

@itsfi Very interesting! I wish this set came with the additional 3 lippies. The DDG lip plumper has grown on me. I like the minis of the YSL lippies because the full sized ones are quite pricey. U love the Favorites sets because they are a great way to try new products and can be a good deal. I feel like I am missing out a bit 🤔

100% agree @Mellmars1185; it's nice to be able to try out products - and have a good amount of product to try out too. The YSL was the only product/shade in that nude lip set that I already had (in a full and deluxe sample size) - all the other products were either new to me or in a new shade for me. That rarely happens anymore so I was excited to pick it up. It's no longer available in the Sephora stores but I just checked Kohl's and you know what else is interesting?!!! The kit there only contains 6, not 7 of the lip products - it doesn't include the YSL product (which I think I heard about on the Forum at one point) and it (the one at Kohl's) is $3 less ($42) than the one that was available at Sephora ($45) - somehow I think the YSL deluxe sample is worth more / costs more than $3.

@itsfi Hmm, it is very interesting that there are different variations of the same product. I would love to know the reasons why. Thank you for sharing these findings! $3 seems like a good price for a ysl lip mini

$3 would be a steal if the mini's were actually sold at that price point, @Mellmars1185 . How great would that be if they offered mini's in all their shades at that price?! Ha! I'd break a lipstick low buy for that. 🤣 YSL does have some amazing gwp's that include the mini 44 Nude Lavalliere and it shows up from time to time in the promo gwps at Sephora as well.

@itsfi Thanks! I will keep an eye out for the GWP. I want to try shade 44 but I can't justify buying a full size.

@itsfi Thank you! I will have to test this liner out more and get back to you on this waterproof claim. I don't reach for this liner often. I found that that it feels like a long lasting lipliner but it didn't last very long.

@itsfi Hehe yes you are right about that. It is the shade that I am not drawn to. I find it leans cool and I really enjoy warm shades. I am also wondering if the lipstick I applied over it had any impact on thr longevity of it. I find that putting glosses or certain lipstick formulas over almost any liner can change how it wears?

💯....@Mellmars1185 .  Usually the glossy component makes the liner un-waterproofed.  There was a good explanation on reddit that went into this,  and the remedy was use gloss just in the center or a small amount.

I sometimes set my liner with powder, but that doesn't always work, it'll usually keep it from smearing a lot on the cupid's bow, but not so much the bottom lip area.
