100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

Fri, Sat and today’s lewks. Day 19- Mac’s Love me Lipstick in Give Me Fever. Satin finish and a true red. I’ll have to try this as a lip stain instead. It is comfy but it’s slippery even with lip liner. Day 20- MAC Matte in Heroine. The name alone just gets me so motivated...lol. I created this look for an 80s themed party. Day 21- Revlon, Pink in the Afternoon.

Lipstick 230: Illamasqua Liquid Lip Lure in Nebulus. Today’s the first time I’ve ever worn this formula. This might be the closest I’ll ever get to a well performing blue or black (or almost black) lip gloss without needing to layer 2 or more different lip products. Hooray! 

It’s a no makeup day, except for lipstick: Illamasqua Lip Lure in Nebulus.

Lip Lure is a liquid cream formula with a gloss finish. I think Illamasqua discontinued this line 😭 but I’m gonna check places like Amazon for other “unconventional” shades. Nebulus is a blackened midnight blue. It looks black in certain lighting. I’m wearing 2 coats in my photo, though a single coat was quite pigmented. Application was smooth and even, with no streaks or patches. It’s not MAC Lipglass sticky, but I won’t call it non-stick. It’s kinda like sticky note tacky. Smacking my lips together causes no gumminess or color removal. The formula is definitely not transfer-proof: there were bold dark blue stains on my coffee cup. But 2 coats held up nicely through several cups of coffee, water, and a beer, with a little wear-down on the inner side of my bottom lip.

It has a smell-taste I can’t quite describe... it’s not yucky, but I did notice it for the first 20 minutes of wear—until I had my first sip of coffee for the day, which overpowered the smaste.

It also feathers more than I’d like: 

No lip liner or primer used, so I could see how much Nebulus would feather/bleed. Photo taken in beauty lighting.

Hopefully a liner or lip primer barrier will prevent feathering next time I wear it, because I love everything else about this lipstick. I wish Lip Lures were still available, and that I’d known about them long enough ago to have bought more shades. Sigh.

@CheekyKeek you look gorgeous! I don't have a studio-esque closet but locking my husband out of the bathroom and playing with makeup is also my favorite past time hobby.  I'll have to pick up that Fenty shade at some point, I love a good berry shade.
