100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

@faeriegirl and the TF formula was pretty hydrating and faded nicely today too. Still have it on and it looks even.

I’ve already done my skincare and am ready for bed but I wanted to participate today so I threw on MAC lipglass in Impassioned cause i thought it would match my sleep sweater:).

Tested Bobbi Brown Crushed Lipstick in Cool Beets today. 

Compared to my favorite glosses (Lancôme’s L’Absolu Lacquers), Cool Beets is less shiny but equally non-sticky and weightless. I applied 2 coats this morning and the color built up nicely. It was streaky when I applied the first layer, but that might be partly because I had to get used to this particular doe foot. The second layer was better, and I had no application problems when I reapplied a single layer after lunch.

2 layers held up well (except for the innermost side of my lips) to several cups of coffee and water. The post-launch single layer didn’t hold up as well, but left a lovely stain as it wore down. Unfortunately it was a patchy stain that cracked a bit on my lips. It also feathered all along my bottom lip as I drank coffee. The double layer feathered just a tiny bit in one spot during a cup of coffee. This tells me I should always apply at least 2 layers, rather than do a single semi-sheer layer. I’d probably always do that anyway because I love the rich beet color. 

Overall, I’m impressed! I still prefer the L’Absolut Lacquers, but Bobbi Brown’s no slouch. Might have to try my other Crushed Lipstick (Mango Mood) tomorrow. 🙂 

Huh, I just realized that photo pulled a bit cool/magenta overall. The lipstick shade is accurate so I won’t bother color correcting everything else.

I've been waiting for either you or @RGbrown to compare this to your favorite Lancome. Thanks so much for all of the detail @WinglessOne! The color looks amazing on you and I'm curious how the coral one will look and perform for you.

Oh you found it streaky?  What?  Aaaaand it was patchy on your lips as it dried down?  I had the exact opposite experience.  It faded beautifully on me.  I think it looks gorgeous on you even though you had to apply two layers:) 

Ouhhhhhh the name mango mood has me all excited!  I hope it’s as awesome as it sounds!

Thanks @heartsmyface ! Yeah, I do think the initial streakiness was part user error. I don’t have any other liquid lipstick (that I can think of right now) with a doe foot shaped and angled like the Crushed Lipstick one. The patchiness only happened with a single layer of lipstick, after a cup of coffee. And honestly, I’d normally do 2 layers of that gloss anyway. 😂 I just wanted to see how well a single layer would hold up. 

Mango Mood is... coral pink. “But you hate coral pinks on you!” 😂 True, but this one could be a rare exception, just like a certain L’Absolu Lacquer coral. We’ll find out! There’s a third Bobbi Brown shade I almost bought. I think it was either Main Squeeze or In A Jam. Might have to use another Nordstrom Note on one more shade, if I don’t already have a Lancôme dupe. 

Can’t wait to see what you think of the Lancôme gloss!

Main squeeze is soooo bright!   It’s going to work so well into summer!  

I ended up ordering three shades of the Lancome.  It looks like they’re selling well cause they were low  in stock in near everything! @WinglessOne

Ahhhhhh, excited to hear a comparison of the two! Is it weird that I'm kinda relieved Lancome won your test? Hopefully I don't have to collect all of these like I do the Lacquers 😛

My order from the 21st hasn't even shipped yet, so I dunno if/when mine'll ever arrive 😕
